We stopped in here after a delicious lunch down the street. This place is an independently owned, no frills, used book shop. There’s a huge selection of fiction titles and a nice mix of everything else. The basic pricing system is that books are 50% off of cover price. I believe that there is a membership program, and I’m guessing that it bumps the discount to 75% off(since there was a sign in front that said 50−75% off). You’ll have to discover the benefits of the program yourself. I also saw that you can get store credit if you drop off books for them to sell. The ambience is very casual and there are seats so that you can take your time browsing for exactly what you want. The only downside to the store is that other than book categories(i.e. fiction, self-help, travel, etc.) there is no sort of dewey or alphabetical organization. I understand why, but it can make looking for a specific title time consuming. This could also be seen as a positive for those who don’t have something in mind and are just looking for whatever catches their eye! The woman working was friendly and patient with us. I know we’ll be back next time we’re in downtown Crystal Lake.
