This is the 4th river I’ve done a 4-day paddling trip on(6th trip). I called and spoke with another outfitter who was not helpful and only interested in scheduling shuttles. However, I needed more information to know if the New River, NC would even work for my purposes. I was looking for something like 40+ miles over 4 days /3 nights, and I wasn’t quite sure of the size of the group, yet. Susan quickly put me on the phone with her husband, Terry, and he was more than willing to help me talk through an arrangement that would work and to answer any questions I had. He also walked me through information regarding put-in and take-out spots so that I could map them for our group. Riverside Canoe even helped us out in the middle of our trip when one of our paddles(not from Riverside Canoe) broke — let’s just say that you shouldn’t try to straighten a bent aluminum shaft of a kayak paddle — it snapped. Terry and Susan had someone bring a paddle to us at our campsite, the next morning, as we had left them a voicemail after hours, the evening before. While there is no camping, they do have bathrooms(and I believe showers, a s well). They also keep up with your keys for you, so there is no risk of losing them in the river — nice touch! I will be back on the New River, in NC, again, and I will use Riverside Canoe exclusively. They are the best outfitter I’ve used, so far.
