First, I want to say I have used this CVS minute clinic before because their weekend hours are convenient when your primary care physician is closed. The nurse practitioner I had at this location the last couple of times was attentive, knowledgeable and gentle. However, when I went to the minute clinic for a swollen, red/white throat in February 2015, I had the complete opposite experience with a different practitioner. My throat was so painful and I’ve had strep before so I naturally thought I had strep. Rapid strep test came back negative. I went to the minute clinic because I had been uninsured since January and needed an economical option. Nurse practitioner was nice but knowing I was uninsured told me she needed to swab my throat and test it since my rapid strep test was negative. She said it would cost an additional $ 30. She did not mention at any time that the test would be sent to a third party lab and cost $ 200!!! Had I known that, I would have declined the test especially since she only prescribed water and ibuprofen. What a joke! I was never called with the test results and when I tried calling the CVS Minute Clinic hotline to see when I would know the results, I was on hold for 15 minutes with no answer. Two days later, no swab test results or contact with CVS, I could hardly swallow without crying and had to pay another $ 100 to go to a different express care clinic where a doctor actually gave me antibiotics and wouldn’t you know it, my throat was already feeling better a couple of hours after my first dose. I’m so disappointed with CVS and i will never recommend anyone to their clinic as I’m so disgusted with the lack of information and treatment from this provider. I ended up paying $ 400($ 109 cvs, $ 200 lab results, $ 100 to go to an actual doctor who actually helped me) for strep throat because their practitioner was so inexperienced or just didn’t care. Go to Pinnacle Express Care down the street instead. It’s actually a little cheaper and the doctor knew just by looking in my throat that it was strep. No need to perform unnecessary tests to line his pockets because he knew about my uninsured situation. Stay away from CVS Minute Clinic!

I visited this drug store for the minute clinic, place was amazing. Checked in on the computer which only took a few minutes. As soon as I sat down the technician came out and greeted me. Total time spent there was probably 15 min. Got my prescription and left. I’ll be back the next time I feel under the weather.
