Crown Point Community Library

I am only giving the Crown Point Library 1 star due to the beautiful brand new building. I would have rated it higher if the front desk staff was more friendly and not so rude. My daughter and I went to renew our library cards on Halloween. The African American woman behind the counter was extremely rude to my daughter, treating her like she was an idiot. We went in the donation room to buy a couple books. When we went to pay for them our total was $ 2.50. I handed the young man behind the counter named Nick five dollars and he started to walk away. I told him I had $.50 and he said «no I don’t need your quarters». This is when I realized their behavior was unacceptable. The staff hired needs to actually want to be there and be more friendly. It’s scary to think if they treated my daughter (who is 25) and me this way how they treat young adults and children.

What a great library! I believe it has been in it’s new location since October of 2012. I took the boys for the first time a few months back and we’ve been going at least 3 times a months since then. The exterior of the building looks great as it should since it’s new!
The interior is wonderful… lot’s of room and the library does not waste any of it. They have community meeting rooms, quiet room (s), an internet café room, independant study rooms, children’s section room (s), teenage section room, and even a game system room… and plenty of computers in each section (adult, teenage, and children) of the library. I know, Wow! I’m certain that I am forgetting one or two other rooms. The library also has wi-​fi throughout the building, no issues logging on.
My boys love the children’s section of the library. They have computers with specific software/​programs for children, puzzles, legos, and nice section to sit and read. Great view of DT Crown Point from this part of the library as well.
The library also hosts a number of great events for children of all ages and even adults, I know I’m looking forward to seeing Astronaut, Jerry Ross next month.
The staff has also been very kind and helpful each time I’ve asked a question or for help.
Last note… the Crown Point and Winfield libraries operate seperately from the Lake County branch libraries.
