My grandparents love to take me to Cracker Barrel and take me along with them. So I’ve been to this Cracker Barrel a few times, and each time I have been disappointed. While the service is always very good, the food has been overly fattening and the taste underwhelming. To my surprise, this trip was different. We were promptly seated and a gander at the menu revealed that a new portion of their menu was dedicated to healthier eating(mostly salads). I decided to give one of these new options a try. I ordered the grilled chicken salad with the vinaigrette dressing on the side(~500 calories). The salad was quite large and the highlight was the grilled chicken that tasted like it was marinated and was very delicious. I didn’t need the dressing because the cucumbers and corn were already coated in some type of dressing and were also full of flavor. My grandparents ordered a side of cornbread and I had to have some. Cornbread is hard to make well because it is often too dry or tasteless. Unfortunately, this cornbread was not as good as the salad. While the texture was perfect – somewhat crispy outside and moist inside, the outside tasted a bit too salty and the inside was flavorless. While I won’t try the cornbread again, I must say that I am no longer afraid of entering Cracker Barrel and having an immediate heart attack.

My very first time at a Cracker Barrel. The place was packed but we didn’t have to wait for a seat. I got the chicken and dumplings which is one of their quick meals so it was in front of me in no time. I really liked it. Our waitress was super friendly and kept my lemonade topped off the entire time. I will definitely go back the next time I see one of these chain restaurants when I’m on the road.

It was good! My son and I ate here after he had a soccer game. It was 5PM on a Sunday, and I thought for sure there would be a crowd. Lucky for us, although far from empty, there were plenty of open tables. We ended up being seated next to a teammate and his large, extended family and they were so sweet they invited us to join them. So, we added our little table to the end, and the staff had no problem with that at all. Our food came out pretty much with their group, even though they’d ordered ahead of us. i had a vegetable plate(southern veggies, NOT healthy) made up of green beans, corn, hashbrown casserole and grits. Yum I think my son snarfed his chicken and dumplings, but I did notice most of his okra leftover. All in all, a lot of empty plates on the table, and there seemed to be a lot of satisfied bellies. My only problem was that before I could do anything about it, the teammate’s grandfather had paid our bill as well — UNBEKNOWNST to him! Our server just added to theirs, and I’d never met him in my life! Anyhow, not sure why she would take it upon herself to do that.??

This place is not awful, but it’s certainly not great. I guess for the area it bubbles to the top of the list, which is a little sad for the sake of the locals. It was clean, the staff was very polite and it was quite economical. The fried chicken breast was disappointing, the meat texture was good but the only flavor was in the breading. I’ve had much better fried chicken in New England and in the Pacific Northwest. The catfish has good flavor but was certainly nothing to write home about, and the sides were all bland. And of course the clincher, I’m pretty sure Jesus must be the regional manager because you can’t get a drink. What’s worse than having to endure a kitschy place full of mass produced Americana trinkets if you can’t even get a buhr(a beer).

Had chicken and dumplings dinner with wife on way to gatlingburg. Was standard Cracker Barrel food, only issue was I wasn’t happy with the fried okra. Overall service was nice and fast, and a great place to stop at for lunch half way from Nashville!

I don’t think CB is all that good. I was going to give it 1 star, but decided they are a little better than all the fast food restaurants in the area. As my husband puts it; their food is like eating grandmas’ leftovers(grandma wasn’t a very good cook).

If you’re ever moseying along I-40 and see this Cracker Barrel coming up at the next exit, stop in for a sec. I’ve been in and out of this place a lot(partly because I live here and we don’t have many options ;) partly because Cracker Barrel is just plain GOOD!). As with all Cracker Barrels, you get a good amount for your money and it’s delicious :) Personally, I’m a fan of the Cracker Barrel Sampler. You get meatloaf, chicken n dumplings and ham(country/salty or sweet) as well as three«vegetables»(sides) and biscuits and corn bread. This will feed me for the whole day! And lets not forget that Southern Hospitality. You will get one of two hostesses: a normal hostess and a sweet-as-pie hostess. And the waitresses are all nice, I haven’t had a bad experience yet(I recommend going for lunch or breakfast though, the nicest ones are there at this time, but you didn’t hear that from me ;)). Another reason to go earlier in the day is, for such a small town, this place is always busy! Not too busy to turn you away(unless it’s a weekend night! but you rarely have to wait long), things work very well around here! The only thing that bothers me, is when things get busy, your hostess may take you to wait in the dining room for a table to either get cleaned, or for a table to get up! I don’t like this, and I understand it helps with flow and being fast… but it makes me, personally, feel uncomfortable. And I don’t like to see the table I’m going to eat at, all dirty… But all in all, it’s just a lovely place. Sweet people. Great food.

Whenever I’m in the area, I live for the Cracker Barrel. There is no better«southern cookin» anywhere. I can have all the things here that I just can’t get in California. My favorite meal is Grandpa’s country fried breakfast. I get it with chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs with cheese, cheesy hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, grits… and to top it all off… double chocolate fudge coca cola cake! Don’t forget the apple butter! God Bless America!

This is a very pleasant CB that follows the formula perfectly. The usual store out front with two sections of restaurant seating. It is now all non-smoking, which I appreciate. Plenty of staff(and customers) for a late weeknight dinner, I was seated immediately and my waitress(Morgan) took my drink and dinner order. The food was brought out promptly and was exactly what I ordered. A very large salad that was more«stuff» than lettuce with the dressing on the side. Delicious and just what I wanted. My water glass never emptied with several servers stopping by to refill it, even though I was not in their section. At $ 10 including tip, I received great value for my money. This could just as easily have been the Cracker Barrel in Deerfield Beach, Florida, Springdale Arkansas or Fenton Missouri. Excellent!
