Kids menu isn’t much at all. I’d like it if they let you pick up McDonald’s or something for the kids and let us bring But, I go there for the crawfish and shrimp. It’s the best on the east side of Houston if not all of Houston. So, aside from those minor gripes, this place is damn good.

#1 crawfish spot in the Houston area for sure. Hands down, claws up ! Great place to byob and eat like a champion. The owner of the shack is pretty cool, we showed up right at closing time and they still let us in. Everyone i know likes this place and recommends it.

This place is beating all the crawfish places I’ve ever had in my life. Perfectly cook. Perfectly season. Fresh as if could be. The special price isn’t show online but it’s $ 4.95/lb on Wednesday. You can bring ur own beers/alcohol but no other outside drinks. Gigantic crawfish or I guess lobsters?

Just had dinner here tonight with my girlfriend. The wait service was fantastic! Truly. The crawfish, shrimp, and crab legs are sold by the pound and also in specific combos. We got the Shack Trio which consisted of 2 lbs of boiled crawfish, ½ lb of boiled shrimp, ½ lb of crab legs. The crab legs were arguably the best(but I am biased towards crab coming from the north). The shrimp were fantastic as well. Truly amazing shrimp. This was my first time eating crawfish, so it’s hard to be a critic here, but the waiter explained how to eat the crawfish and they were pretty good. I am not sure that crawfish is going to be a regular item for me, but this place is definitely top notch. They also have sides. We got the corn on the cob and the potatoes. The corn had a great flavor to it. We will definitely be back! Also, they sell t-shirts that are pretty cool looking for only $ 10. Make sure to bring your own beer(such a cool concept). Wish they sold Abita brews, but the BYOB is a nice option too!

We drive 45 min to eat here. It has never disappointed us yet. You have to try the Étouffée. The spice is spot on. The size and quality are perfect. Looks like select crawfish. No field run at this joint. The service is great and they love Jesus.

Service is great, fast. Food was fresh, hotsl, fast, and tasted amazing. I ordered the Shack combo which was 2 lbs. of crawfish, 1 lb of shrimp, corn and potatoes. Everything was great. Got the Meaux spicy and it didn’t let me down. The seasoning on the table is good also. Will be back REALSOON. Laci took good care of us. Definitely worth the drive

Given the good reviews I decided to take a long drive for crawfish! Only to come home and realize they’d given us 3 lbs of shrimp instead. which I initially ordered only half lb. At the price, I’d expect decent sized shrimp not the case! Overall the shrimp small, potatoes we’re dry, no juice at the bottom like others not much flavor… Mediocre. To be fair the staff was friendly and responsive when I called. I definitely won’t be back. Not worth the drive if you don’t live in the area.

I live in Katy and while we do have our favorite crawfish places that we frequent out there, we came to Crawfish Shack to celebrate my BFF’s birthday(who lives in Humble). It’s the first time I’d been there. Simple place, nothing fancy, perfect for eating some good food. I have to say… this place had absolutely the BEST crawfish that I’ve eaten in Houston so far(and I’ve been here almost all of my life). Now, I’m not saying a better place doesn’t exist… if it does… I just haven’t found it yet, BUT… the crawfish were fantastic. great size and spiced perfectly. For four of us, we ordered 10 lbs of crawfish(usually $ 5.99/lb but if you order 10 or more lbs it’s $ 4.99/lb) and 1 lb of shrimp(did take some leftovers). We ordered the crawfish mild and the shrimp spicy. Both great flavor, I would probably order the crawfish spicy if it was just me. I will definitely put this place on the list from now on during crawfish season!!!

I’ve been to this place a few times. Sometimes there is a wait(about 45 minutes) and times we just walk in. It’s a BYOB facility. Very comfortable and lively at times when full. ;-) The crawfish taste great! We order the medium spice. Can’t handle any spicier than that. Red beans and rice, shrimp all taste great too! Will definitely return.

Me and my boyfriend grab a 6 packs on the way(more if we are with friends) and that’s all I need! They are seasoned perfectly and the spice is just right!!! Yummy yummy! I am in Sugar Land, so driving all the way to Crosby, Texas in Houston traffic for a meal is a pretty big feat. Well, I heard enough good things about this place to make the journey. I will honestly say that it is worth the wait and the drive. The food is quite flavorful and delicious. My friend and I showed up and struggled pretty hard for parking. Of course, I had never been there before, so I was in the To Go line looking for a spot. It was very chaotic and took more than 15 minutes to get a parking spot. After that, we had to wait outside of the restaurant for about an hour. There aren’t a lot of seats available for their soon-to-be patrons, so most are standing. There were some obvious regulars with ice coolers and folding chairs. Smart! I will be doing that next time for sure. Fortunately for us, the weather was good and the wait for a bench while we waited wasn’t too bad. Once we were inside, we were greeted with warm smiles and super fast service. We ordered 4 lbs of their spiciest crawfish along with some corn and potatoes. It was finger licking good!!! In fact, it was so good that we ordered another 2 lbs. Unfortunately, the second bowl of crawfish came out really small and most of it was just the legs of the bugs. I think we got the bottom of the barrel. I don’t usually send things back and hate complaining, so I just sucked it up and ate it. Though, if I had that as my first bowl and first impression, I would be writing a completely different review. Not to mention, there wouldn’t have been a second bowl. The environment wasn’t the most comfortable, but it was enjoyable. They play loud music(not too terribly loud — you can enjoy conversations) and they switch up the types of songs. We heard country music, pop music, rap, etc… They really do try to please everyone. Unless you come in a large group, you will most likely be seated with other people. It wasn’t awkward though. Everyone is so dang happy to finally be inside and getting their amazing crawfish, that it’s a really friendly environment. Overall, this was a fantastic experience. my only two complaints are that the second bowl that was served to us, should never hit a table. My other complaint is that they are SO far away from me. Whaaaaahhhh!!! :) I will definitely be returning. Next time, should I get another bottom of the barrel bowl of bugs, I’ll speak up.

Overrated! Service was fast and friendly but the crawfish is not the best I’ve had. We ordered spicy and we had to pour on a ton of seasoning to get enough flavoring. I think this place is a hit because of the whole byob thing because it can’t be because of the crawfish. I still prefer Hank’s Crawfish at 1960⁄45. Crawfish Shack has nothing on them when it comes to flavorful Cajun crawfish. All and all I still enjoyed the outing but the crawfish, not so much.

If you’re out there thinking this place is still as amazing as it used to be a few years ago, don’t bother waiting for 1 – 2 hours, their quality is no different from any other crawfish place in Houston. #WasteOfTime #NeverAgain #NoMeaux #Bye *UPDATE* The comment below references an issue with music which has nothing to do with my review of the food. The issue with music was due to poor/rude management.

We were putting off going here, because of the drive. What a mistake!!! Been going to all the best places that GOOGLE told us to go to(for crawfish) in the Houston and Clear Lake area for years, and this place has them beat«hands down» Waitstaff helps each other out to keep up with the buzzing crowd, and I mean buzzing«people are happy to be here» Our waitress Clara was probably the best waitress I’ve had in years, friendly, informative and responsive. The owner even came by and sat with us for quite some time and gave us the scoop on the whole operation. Definitely going back«new favorite crawfish hole» OH, and P. S. if you like old school Louisiana Red beans & rice, Étouffée, and Gumbo, I can’t think of anyplace that can top his. It blew my mind that these items were so good, we were just happy that we found someone who actually knew how to prepare the«bugs» I’ll be bringing gumbo and étouffée for the guys at work. There are several different levels of spiciness to choose from when ordering your crawfish and you can even get them«LA style» I’ll let you go yourself to find out. It’s BYOB, so pack a BIG ice chest and bring the family.

I love this place for crawfish. I love how friendly the owners and staff are. Sometimes the owner will walk around and greet you. I get the Meaux spicey, its spicy! Red beans and rice are a favorite! Its BYOB, bring a cooler but if you dont, the staff will bring you a cooler with ice. Very nice! I made it down here during the drive thru only days, on Saturday morning. So organized, so quick. I brought a cooler to keep them hot. It is great for people watching when its open for dine in. You will see ALL kinds of people here. It can get crowded but everyone has a great time. Sometimes you might share a large table with people you dont know but that has never been a bad experience here. The more the merrier. They keep restrooms clean. They also have a play area for kids. You can keep an eye on them while you enjoy your meal. Oh! They also have a kids menu. So dont let that deter you from stopping by.

My favorite thing here is not the crawfish, although they are awesome! What I love most are the red beans and rice! The bowl should be shared, because it’s a big portion, but I swear I could probably eat it all by myself. The main attraction are the crawfish. They are always the biggest crawfish found in the greater Houston and surrounding areas, in my experience. Lots of tasty, spicy seasoning and you decide how spicy you get them. I like eating the Meaux Spicy, but sometimes when I want to cut back on the sodium and heat I’ll stick with the Mild. One of the cool things about crawfish shack is the environment. Lots of people watching, good music, laid back atmosphere, and it’s BYOB. You are guaranteed a fun experience.

Best Houston Area Restaurant Crawfish Ever! Let me get the important stuff out of the way. BYOB! OK, now this is the best crawfish I have had in Houston. Only crawfish better is at my buddies annual crawfish boil(shout out to BGrave!) The atmosphere is awesome and the dipping sauce is great. Go ahead and skip the mushrooms. Corn, potatoes and sausage have just the right amount of spice. One of two places(breakfast club) in the Houston area that rivals the wait lines at Austin eateries. The place I bring out of town guest(when in season.) It’s always a blast coming here.

We went on Mother’s Day and OMG I can’t wait to go back. It took us about 40 minutes to get from the Houston Galleria area to the Shack and it was more than worth the drive. Best boiled crawfish I’ve had in the Houston area ever. Seriously. We each ordered 5 lbs — the crawfish were all large and there were no straight tails at all in either one of our orders. Their seasoning is so yummy I could just lick it off of my finger. Yes, you can buy bottles of it. However, if you have a problem with MSG be careful because it does contain MSG.(MSG makes me retain water a bit but let’s face it MSG allergies are mostly BS.) We ordered medium spicy and at first he thought it was a little too mild. We like spicy but trust me, after we ate about 5 – 10 crawfish the heat did build and he ended up being grateful that he ordered medium spicy. With that being said, only get hot if you really, really enjoy searing, intense heat. Oddly, the best crawfish in the Houston area was not pricey. It was about $ 1 – 2 less per pound than anywhere else we’ve had it this year. A really nice surprise was their red beans and rice. It’s the best I’ve ever eaten anywhere and that includes New Orleans. Not. Kidding. It was so good we ordered two bowls to go for dinner the next day. I think the key to their red beans and rice goodness is their seasoning(which is the same seasoning they use in the crawfish boil) and the sausage(again, the same sausage they use in the crawfish boil). The service was outstanding. Our cheerful waitress checked on us frequently and there was never a mess or trash on our table for very long at all. As we sat there we could see how much the entire wait staff hustles and pick up every little piece of anything off of the ground that doesn’t belong on the ground. Tips: It is BYOB(beer or wine, any other beverages must be purchased on site) but they’ll give you ice and you can borrow a cooler. However, it’s probably best to bring your own cooler because they do run out of coolers when they’re busy. It really is a shack-style place with the eating area outside but it’s covered and they have lots of fans. The whole place is very, very clean. There is a drive thru and you can also buy live crawfish. If you get there after 2:00 pm on a weekend expect to wait it a while. Check their FB page for specials and other information. Bonus: They have a play area for kids.

I LOVETHECRAWFISHSHACK! Every time we go here, there is some wait time, but the larger the group, the longer the wait, so, we decided to just go here for dates(so romantic sucking crawfish heads and looking into each others eyes lol). The best thing about the Crawfish Shack is the BYOB policy. Although there are some people getting super drunk, just learn to focus on your crawfish, company, and you are set. Now, the food: OMG– delicious delicious delicious! These are boiled crawfish, not full of oils like the LA crawfish place in Bellaire. The mama meux seasoning is my favorite! Paired with a nice cold beer, OMG! Worth the drive and wait time, for sure! Service is always on point and the owners are so nice and courteous. I have never had a bad experience here!

I cannot say enough good things about Crawfish Shack. Best crawfish I’ve ever had in my life. The meaux spicy flavor is the perfect balance of spice, salt, and flavor. I visit this place at least once a week from Houston and it’s SO worth the drive. Not to mention, it’s BYOB, so that’s easier on the checkbook. Wait staff is always attentive here and the owner is always present mingling with diners. It’s apparent that this small business appreciates their customers and takes pride in their product. HIGHLY recommended!

My friends and I came here a half hour before it opened on a Thursday night, and there was still a line! It was torture smelling all the good smells wafting out the door as we waited for Crawfish Shack to open, so once we sat at a picnic-style table, we were starving and ready to chow down. We came specifically for the crawfish, but we added corn, potatoes, mushrooms, and sausages to each of our giant bowls. I say«bowls,» but they’re really more like vats. A minimum individual order of crawfish is two pounds, so that’s a lot of mudbugs to behead, deshell, and go full barbarian on. The spice level is great. If you’re unsure, there’s also a bottle of their seasoning on the table, so you could try a milder spice, and if you wanted more after all, you could always add some yourself. The servers are very accommodating and attentive. Our bowl for discarded shells were emptied regularly, and our waitress was wonderful and chatty. Loved this place, loved the open picnic atmosphere despite being inside, and loved the food.

So the food here is really good, husband and I ordered crawfish, shrimp, and crab legs with the spicy seasoning. It was all really tasty, it came with corn and potatoes, we also added mushrooms and sausage. There was a lot of ppl when we got there but the wait wasn’t so long(it’s shorter if you’re willing to share a table). The only negative is thing is that since its BYOB some ppl looked like they overdid it on the alcohol. It’s family friendly but I was worried someone would break into a fight. Other than that the place is great, I’ll go back maybe on a weekday.

Came last Sunday for the first time and it was such a good time with great food, and great service. First impression was CRAP thats a lot of people waiting outside. We lucked upon someone leaving and got a good parking spot. As we walked up i wasn’t aware that there was a checkin table by the door(so many people i couldn’t see the table) so i approached some nice people and asked how the check in process worked. So if you haven’t been walk up to the door and check in! ok so it ended up being only a 30 minute wait and i say only because like i said it looked intense from the outside. Me and my husband where definitely okay with 30 minutes. he was a trooper and walked to the nearest convenient store and got us some beer and a cooler to wait it out. Also they have a bottle opener by the front door. My husband only got a little bit of ice so he asked one of the girls working the door of they had any ice. The I’m assuming manager explained that they did but in hotter weather they normally don’t give out any BUT they do provide big community coolers to store your beer. Thats awesome to me! So they did give us a little bucket of ice that was perfect, and they were so nice and accommodating! When checking in they ask if you are okay sharing a table with someone else, and we definitely where since it was just myself and my husband. The wait time was accurate and it might have been even sooner then 30 minutes anyway we were called and sat with two woman at a picnic like table. They have big fans threw out the tent also and the air circulation is good. as soon as we sat down we had a waiter there to get our orders which they have posted menus outside for you to look at while you wait so you should be good and ready by the time you sit down. If not they have menus posted not here napkin holders. Food came fairly quickly. This is what we ordered: red beans and rice, 5lbs of «Mo» spice with mushrooms, potato, and corn. The red beans and rice got to the table first, and as soon as they sat it on the table i smelled it and said«Popeyes» the ladies next to us started laughing(totally appropriate because we had formed a bond by then lol) so i had to try it(my husband ordered it HE loves red beans and rice) and y’all it taste JUST like Popeyes Chickens red beans and rice! So he SLAMMED that, and then here comes our crawfish. Our waiter was great and asked if we needed any butter or drinks, and the ladies next to us asked to turn the fans down so there food wouldn’t get cold and he happily complied and turn them down for them. So the whole table got the Mo spice… i was in crawfish, mushroom HEAVEN!(too spicy for my husband, and the lady next to us couldn’t even really eat them and our waiter again was insistent that he changed them for her even when she said no because she didn’t want to be any trouble. he reassured her that it was fine. he changed them for her and she was much happier) the crawfish were juicy and had a sprinkle of seasoning on top(they also have there signature seasoning on the table for you) The crawfish where cooked perfect, seasoned perfect for me. the way that crawfish are supposed to be cooked where you should not need any extra seasoning and what it was boiled in should be enough and it WAS! ok but let me take a moment and talk about the little mushrooms! OhMyGosh! lol ugh they were soooo good! I had no idea! We are going to be back and since then went to a new spot close to us and i just was so unsatisfied with them because all i could think about was this experience. Next time we are taking some chairs to sit outside and cooler i don’t know maybe some music and make it a party! lol ohhhh and they have a playground INSIDE the tent when you sit down. HELLSYES for the people taking the kiddos. thats genius and if we have to take the kids its cool cause they will definitely be entertained! Go with the mind set of chilling, waiting, enjoying the people around you, and the food… you won’t be disappointed!

You get the whole experience at the Shack. Amazing crawfish(large sized, perfectly cooked, nice and spicy, with a variety of dipping sauces beyond basic butter). Fun, casual seating(picnic tables, bring your own cooler of beer, huge open space). The staff is great if your a first timer, or if you’re a known crawfish lover looking for something new(my waitress recommended her favorite dip ‘red sauce’, which was a bit of cooking liquid, lemon juice and the dry seasoning — so tart and spicy!) I’ve seen the wait lines in pictures but I always get there early and do not have to wait very long, if at all. I do not feel out of place alone there(business traveler), but it is much more fun with friends!
