We have been going here since its opening but have not eaten here in several months. Got food to go tonight and was shocked at the quality. The beef and broccoli was not the usual high quality beef or sauce, the miso soup was still good but seemed like there was less miso and more seaweed and mushrooms(only complaint on that is it needs the miso back), the veggie egg rolls were soggy and tasted like a different kind or maybe the oil it was cooked in was not the usual. So sad and worried we may have lost one of our favorite eating establishments.

Service was great but food was ok. What i didn’t like is that tips did not go to the waitstaff. They went straight to the owner. Don’t think I will be back.

Sadly, after being customers for many years there seems to have been a shift in the ownership or management in the past few months. Our most recent visit was our last visit. We have never ever sent food back here. But the most recent time, the soup was good, but other than that the experience was unfortunate. Our appetizers and main courses came out together. Soup was good, egg rolls were cold and dripping grease. The main food was ice cold when they brought it back. The manager or owner thought it was funny, laughing and saying nobody ever complains. We even asked if there was a change in the kitchen, and they said a few months ago. At that point we paid for our soup and drinks and left.(We did not eat the other items) While service had been slipping the past few months, nothing was really bad. Based on our last visit, they have permanently lost a long time regular customer. Most of last year we were here every week or two. I gave them a second star based on history.

I usually come to Japanese restaurants for the sushi, and this place was no exception. Having tried the shaggy dog before, I expected the rest of the sushi to be equally good, I was sorely disappointed. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody looking to eat actual sushi.

From sushi to their appetizers and main dishes, Charming Café is the best there is in Crosby. No need to drive all the way to Houston when you have a good local spot. I’ve tried several dishes and haven’t been disappointed. Good portion size too.

Have eaten here many times and ehhh, it’s alright. Do not order the chicken & broccoli… it is this weird white gravy, definitely NOT your classic chicken & broccoli dish. The mongolian triple delight is the best dish we’ve had so far, except it was a bit on the salty side. Fix that and it’d be perfect! Sesame chicken is pretty good but a bit too sweet. Egg rolls are pretty good and all the soups are good too. I absolutely love curry, but have been a little afraid of ordering that at Charming. Since I live in Crosby, I’ll definitely eat here again, but if this were located in Houston where there are MANY options, I’d probably find somewhere else.

I love this place. I am trying to lose a little weight and there are many options here that will work on a low cal diet. We were there today and I had a large egg drop soup and steamed dumplings. Food and service is consistently good.

This is one of my Crosby favorites! Crunchy maki, pan fried dumplings, shaggy dog! Delicious! And it’s got to be the cleanest place in town. Very friendly, attentive staff as well.

My family has been going here for the last 7 years. The food is very good and consistent in preparation. I enjoy the Tokyo Maki roll with extra sauce. The staff is exceptionally friendly and several remember us and make a point to greet us. The restaurant has always been very clean.

We walked in and were seated at a corner booth. Before we could even order, my daughter was crawling to my side of the booth because a roach was crawling from the wall to her bench seat. I took care of it and threw it away in the bathroom. My daughter ordered sushi and it came to the table warm. She ate one piece and couldn’t eat anymore. It took forever to get the bill and I had to walk the payment up to the register because they never came back. We won’t be back.

This place is gross and the portions are SMALL! I order the orange chicken and my chicken comes out with some very thick sticky sauce… which comes on like all the food, it’s gross! The stuff seems as if it is leftover from the nights before and just warmed up!

Being that I live in Crosby and there are just days that I don’t feel like driving into Houston when I have a sushi craving I go to Charming Café. I’ve been several times since they opened this little café in a strip center. I know what you’re thinking… STRIPCENTERSUSHI… NOWAY!!! But don’t let the location fool you. The sushi is pretty good. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve ever had… but I can say with 100% uncertainty that it’s the best I’ve ever had in Crosby. ;) I am kind of a wimpy sushi eater… most of the items that I order are cooked. Once in a while I’ll go for some tuna or salmon. And I always order soy paper. My order usually consists of a shaggy dog and a California roll. Both have been spot on every time I order them. I even have special requests and they’ve always gotten my order right. I usually also order a appetizer of the pan fried dumplings which are also very good. I cannot speak for the other items on the menu because all I ever order is sushi, but my husband has ordered off the menu and hasn’t ever complained about anything he’s ever ordered… but that’s not saying much because he’s not a picky eater at all. I’d say… if you’re ever in Crosby and have a craving for sushi, give this little place a try. You’ll get good food for a decent price.

I really like Charming Café! This is a hidden gem — tucked away in a shopping center on 2100 in the small Texas town of Crosby, you wouldn’t expect to find such a good Asian restaurant! But Charming is always good. It’s not the best Asian food I’ve ever had, but I am glad that the only Asian in the area is actually really yummy. I almost always order the Charming spicy with tofu and vegetables and am never disappointed. You can dine in or you can get take out. The people are friendly, the place is clean and the food is solid. Never too packed any time I’ve been here, but I am really glad that it’s lasted for a few years because when it first opened I wasn’t sure if Crosby would give it the business it deserved over the crawfish and barbecue around town. But they have and I love it!

They never have fatty tuna. That’s my only Complaint! They have amazing miso soup, amazing sushi and great employees. This is the best sushi place in Crosby!!! Don’t be afraid to stop in and try it! You’ll love it!

The food has always been on spot, but their choice in staff is damaging the reputation of this delightful hole in the wall restaurant. Our waitress today looked like she had just got back from a track meet wearing oversized black sweatpants roles up at the waist so they wouldn’t drag the floor(which didn’t help), messy hair, and faint smell the cigarette smoke.

Love Charming Café! It is just that. Charming. The sushi is pretty good considering we are in Crosby. The soups are good, the dumplings are pretty good. The service is usually great. You will see all sorts of people you know there if you’re local. A small quaint local spot that has yet to disappoint me.

Food is always great. I would not recommend getting beer as it’s never been too cold. But there cheese puffs are great and so is there orange chicken.

Chinese and Japanese food in a strip mall in Crosby, Texas? Sounds like a recipe for failure. So, when my shift partners suggested here, I came in a bit reluctant. The menu was an interesting hodgepodge of Chinese and Japanese entrees as well as sushi. The service was friendly and efficient. My very pedestrian entrée of sweet and sour chicken was perfect. A great tempura batter crust, some pineapple bits, and the sauce on the side made an ordinary dish into a surprisingly good rendition of the food. My partners both had a variety of entrees, all of which came out hot, fresh, and looked significantly more upscale than the standard strip mall Chinese place. This place isn’t Asian Fusion. It’s a great small town restaurant that seems to execute both Chinese and Japanese well. I’ll be back.

I’ve had great experiences with the food here. My favorite roll is the shaggy dog roll with cream cheese. The fried rice, and the steamed dumplings are pretty great as well. The only bad thing is that the restaurant is very small, but the service is pretty fast.
