Love this tea room, the owner, Peggy does a wonderful job of creating an English afternoon tea experience complete with cucumber sandwich, if you like. I’ve been going to the tea room ever since she opened and have brought many of my freind. Whenever we get to gether and it’s my turn the request is always to go to Tea Rose’s for afternoon tea. Thanks Peggy!

This place is a real gem– so quaint, and so lovely. It is like going back in time, and having a good old-fashioned time. I highly recommend the Red Velvet tea which is so smooth, the cucumber finger sandwiches, and the shortbread cookies. The Tea Room has wonderful events, in a really warm atmosphere, like chair massage, reiki, etc that are a great way to get a taste of what the place has to offer.

I have visited several tea rooms throughout the state of Connecticut and even into historic Charleston, South Carolina where Southern hospitality saturates every corner, and none of them can even come close to the experience provided by Tea Roses Tea Room in Cromwell, CT. This is a best kept secret and a true gem of Connecticut. The space is beautifully decorated and has a certain spa-like feel to it with its twinkle lights, cozy fireplace, and quaintness. I have been here several times for the Afternoon Tea service and other special evening tea events. At Tea Roses you are invited to choose your own teacup, if you’d like, which I have yet to experience at any other tea room. The proprietress, Peggi, hands you a cute booklet that contains all of the various teas available and encourages you to «Sit, Sip & Relax.» Each teapot comes with its own candle warmer so that you don’t have to worry about taking too much time and having your pot of tea get cold. All of the food is excellent and perfectly presented. The scones are fantastically tasty and come in the shape of a heart. Sounds silly, but there are even hand bath towels neatly folded in the bathroom for you to use. These little touches really make you feel cared for during your time at Tea Roses. If you are looking for a quiet place to catch up with a friend, have a date night(or an afternoon date!), or maybe a girls’ outing, I HIGHLY recommend Tea Roses Tea Room. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Peggi for following your dream and for providing such a special place for people to come together! I cannot wait until I’m back in the area to visit. Thank you!

My daughters took me here today for my birthday Tea, as always wonderfully relaxing Tea. Such a lovely place. The tea sandwiches, scones with lemon curd, double cream and preserves delicious. And the sweets are out of this world. And the soup offered today was amazing, picked watermelon, sounds strange but it was perfectly balanced, yum. We love this special place

My sister and I try to find fun tea places to check out around the state, and yesterday we made plans to meet at Tea Roses. My sister arrived first, with my toddler nephew, and I arrived shortly afterward. Walking in, I was struck with the charming tea room atmosphere in the front of the store, which(aside from one table) held mostly merchandise. However, walk towards the back of the store, and you find yourself in an adorable, cozy, and away-from-the-madding-crowd tea service room, which features several small tables, a fireplace, and plenty of beautiful tea-ware. The food selection is very limited because the owner and her assistant are the only ones doing the cooking, but that doesn’t mean you are left without variety or wonderful food. On the contrary, even the most basic tea service selection features a variety of delicious finger foods and desserts. You can choose to begin with a soup, salad, or both; we selected the tomato-eggplant and the carrot-ginger soups, so we could taste both, and neither was disappointing. Additionally, you’ll find a tea book on every table, listing the wide variety of teas which are offered at the establishment. We selected the seasonal gingerbread black tea(me) and the green tea with strawberry, apple, and I believe hibiscus(my sister). Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our selections. Following the soup and/or salad is the true tea service course, which is served up on a tiered dish and presents an assortment which includes: sandwiches, mini quiche, scones(SO delicious, especially with the double cream and lemon curds made on the premises!), fresh fruit, and bite-sized desserts. NOTHING was disappointing. And while it might not look like much(in terms of amount), we were both full by the end of our meal. Having mentioned that my sister brought along her(well-behaved) toddler, I do want to add that the proprietor was perfectly lovely about it and treated him well, too. All in all, a very pleasant experience, and I look forward to bringing some of my Anglophile friends in for what the owner says is a true English tea service!
