I always speak out against those who race bait and make everything about a race issue. It is hard to swallow the reality of racial profiling until it happens to you. Some will tell you to get over it and move on — to ignore the reality that comes with the skin you were born in. I’m a former MD Law Enforcement officer of 5 years with a Masters degree in Criminal Justice. I retired and started case management company with over 100 employees of ALL race and creed based in Lanham, MD. The first time I walked into 424 Wine and Spirits located in Crofton, MD. I was forced to ignore all the eye starring. I was dressed in a business attire and assumed that usually helps people feel a bit safer. I picked up two bottles of St Michael’s wine. As I was paying, the gentleman asked me for my ID and I kindly obliged. Curiosity led me to observe the Caucasian guy behind be pull his card out and pay without being asked for his ID. The first time this happened was ruled a coincident, the second time was the following week. As I made my purchase, I was asked for my ID again by the same guy to my surprise. I stuck around and observed two other Caucasian gentlemen behind me pay without being asked for an ID. It became oblivious that this was NOT a coincident. If it can happen to a well dressed former law enforcement, business owner as me, it can happen to you. It’s unfortunate.

Its impossible to park here and everything cost to much. I usually go down the road where the same thing is a few bucks cheaper.

Their wine selection is lacking. I wish they had higher quality options to chose from. They carry decent craft beers and the employees are always super-friendly and helpful. I’ll keep shopping here but only because it’s two minutes from my house.

Parking here is a downer when it is busy. ok, the negative part is out of the way. However, they have a great selection of wine, beer and liquor. It is located in a very small strip mall wedged between a 7 – 11 and a Little Ceasar’s. The staff is really friendly and service is fast. It is an assembly line of alcohol acquisition, and you can be in and out in less than five minutes. So, if you’re in a hurry and need a cold beverage, this is the place to stop.

These guys are so nice and friendly. It’s a small store but the selection is pretty darn good. I mostly buy wine there and they have a decent selection although not extensive. They are super-sweet to my kids(always have a lollipop and a smile). Serviice is great and they give you nice case discounts!

They sell Smithwick’s bottles? Let me repeat: they sell Smithwick’s bottles! This is the first liquor store that I have been to that sells these majestic bottles of magical liquid. I am in love with this store. It’s small. It’s in a dingy strip mall, but this place is clean and efficient. Whatever wall space they do have is crammed full of mixers, alcohol and an awesome selection of beer. I have to say that I was completely taken by surprise. I will never be afraid to step foot in this store again.
