I had a terrible experience at this store today. I went to the store with my mom(I am 26 and she is about 50) and she wanted to buy a bottle of wine. The lady who checked us out was beyond rude and said to my mom«I don’t need to see your id but I need to see YOURS and YOURS» while pointing to me and my sister verociousely. I asked her why she didn’t need to see my sons Id, and she stated it was due to her judgement and she is following Washington state law. I said that my mom would be drinking the wine herself and it isn’t fair that a mom isn’t able to buy alcohol simply because she has kids. The lady was raising her voice at us and caused a scene even though it was clear we were kids with their mom(my son was even there!). Overall I would NOT recommend this store and will never return due to rude customer service. My mom was able to buy her wine because we are both over 21, but I think it isn’t fair that this store discriminates against moms.

I passed by this place without stopping for quite awhile thinking it was only alcohol. When I wanted some alcohol, I stopped and was pleasantly surprised. Not only is there a large selection of decent brews waiting for me in a nice cooler, but it’s a mini grocery store. I’ve been able to save a few meals by running down and grabbing random forgotten ingredients. They’ve had items I was sure they wouldn’t(like jalapeños, fresh baguettes, and soy milk). I also keep a few bucks with me when jogging in case I want to stop for something to drink. The employees are kind, the bread is soft, and the beer is cold. Sounds like five stars to me!

We love and appreciate having this little market in town for the basics. It’s a bit on the spendy side for some things but its worth it for the convenience. Great prices on Green Smart Living ECigs. Wonderful bread delivered by an Italian bakery. Nice folks work here, and they discourage loiterers hanging around, so I don’t get panhandled like I do at most convenience stores.

Glad to have a little place in town that has the basics. Decent fresh options and some veggie and gluten free stuff too, if you know how to look. Plus pet stuff in a pinch. Very handy to have.

The prices are a little higher because it’s the only convenience store in town. It’s not that terrible. They are open every single day from 7am to 10pm(I asked today, I didn’t know). They have a little of everything, hey I don’t mind having them close by instead of driving far away… plus I support small businesses.

Yes the prices are a little high. So is the price of gas trying to drive to Pinole or Hercules for one little things when you live in Crockett. They are always open on holidays. Most of all the people are very friendly.

Needed ant spray at 9:55 pm and they were still open and saved me a trip to Martinez. Look forward to stopping by again soon.

Yes this place is nice and I appreciate you being in Crockett J & L. J & L has a decent beer selection and the beer is cold. They carry my favorite beer, Arrogant Bastard by Stone Brewery, so that is a big plus. If it is Thanksgiving morning and you don’t have milk to make gravy J&L will save your turkey neck. I often shop here for odds and ends. I don’t mind paying a little bit more and supporting a local business.

I love to have J&L down the street. We always forget something and they usually have it. Pricey though but lifesaving. They do not accept credit cards or checks but they have ATM machine. My bank charged me $ 4 for that transaction. Boy, those were expensive jalapenos…

I agree with Megan D on nearly all points. They do mark up the prices because they do know they are the only store in town. You can chose to pay the price or drive further down to Rodeo and save money. Time is money here people. A very large selection of items, except of the alcoholic variety, so don’t come here for that. Thankfully they do take credit cards and is probably the only establishment in Crockett that’s open til 10pm. Minus the bars of course. So yes, J&L is the place.

J&L is the bomb… and other than being the only gig in Crockett to go get something close when in a bind, they sell MAGGIORABREAD. Now, I am a bread fiend… and want a baguette put in the coffin with me when I go… I did not have this great stuff until I moved«east» and its some mighty tasty carbs. I love their take and bake ciabatta. Slice it and put a piece in the toaster… hmmmm baby! The clerks at J&L are usually locals, always nice and sometimes the line is 5 or 6 deep so while some of the items are more pricey, they provide an invaluable service to good olé Crockett. Beats cro$$ing the bridge to Vallejo or driving the«scenic route» down to the Rodeo UnSafeway.
