Oh, hello FREE rafting trip down the McKenzie River, don’t mind if I do! I follow Travel Lane County on Twitter through my job and noticed a sweet promotion they had going on. Be the first of 13 to call Wild Water and request a seat and float the McKenzie for nothing. Only catch, you had two hours before the boat left. Well, I made the most of my Monday and caught that boat straight out of my office and onto the river. Peace work! Sup beautiful Willamette Valley and former favorite river of President Herbert Hoover! The particular trip that I went on for free actually only costs $ 39 and is over(roundtrip-from Eugene to the river and back again) in under 4 hours. The owner and the guide were friendly, informative and exuded confidence on the water. Only downside: The McKenzie quickie is a little of a bore. Don’t get me wrong, it was super enjoyable and mighty relaxing, but nothing all that much happened with the exception of a level 3 rapid at the end that got the heart pacing. It’s beyond perfect for families and a great way to spend a summer evening with your sweetie, but if you’re looking for some action you may ask about their other trips. Wild Water has social media DOWN too. Their facebook page is loaded with awesome videos and photos. The best part? They even bring a waterproof camera along for the ride and any photos you take while out at the river are uploaded to their flickr account a day later.
