I don’t have a ton of experience with hand guns or gun ranges for that matter but I am fairly comfortable with guns considering my limited experience. I enjoy shooting for fun and to relieve some stress and hope to do so much more often in the future. I recently had the pleasure of going shooting with my team of Tastefully Simple consultants who just so happen to be all women, about half of who had never shot at all before. The staff at Openrange made our group feel welcome and took the time to assist those who needed help and directions all while being sure we were safe. As many other reviewers have said you can adjust your target to any distance you prefer which is nice and is very easy to do. They do provide a basic target to you with your lane rental(at least for our group they did so I assume it’s the norm) I can’t speak to how their prices compare to other similar facilities since my experience is limited but I didn’t feel they were terribly high. We didn’t rent anything gun wise or purchase any ammo(with two police officers in our group we had an abundance) so I can’t speak to that aspect either but I absolutely wouldn’t hesitate to shoot here again and I actually look forward to getting to do so!

Nice facility and friendly and helpful staff. Bf and I shared a lane for an hour for $ 33. They’re very safety conscious and keep a staff member on the range at all times. They’ve got great hours and it makes a fun date night. They were really busy tonight. I guess Obama and the tragic recent events has got people thinking. Seemed like there were a lot of newbies and people buying their first gun(good to see). :) Aside from the wait, which was out of their control and really a good thing in general, we had no complaints. We’ll drive back again from across the bridge.

Love this place! Great reball range! Have played there multiple times. It’s best if you bring a group, because you never know how many people will be there and it’s usually more fun to have decent sized teams. J.T. Jackson is a great CCDW instructor! Extremely knowledgeable! Made the class fun and easy to learn in. Very patient with all questions and didn’t move on till everyone got the lesson and STILL made it enjoyable for the people who understood quickly. The firing range is beautiful and clean. State of the art. They have a nice selection of weapons, ammunition, gear and supplies. My only tweak is that the prices are a little high, but then you get what you pay for.

Moved to Louisville from Nashville, tried a range off Newburg Road in Louisville that was junk. Drove north to this place to check it out. Important upsides to Openrange: Very clean facility inside and out. Firing lanes are well ventilated and well lighted. They walk through range rules and target operation better than any range I’ve been to. The target system is intuitive and adjustable down to the one foot increment. Dividers are clear so you can see if anyone is muzzle flashing you, not that you look laterally a lot when shooting but I had never seen clear dividers and liked knowing what was going on beside me when I did look. Less important upsides: Staff is friendly enough, no ‘doing you a favor’ vibe to do their jobs. Ran 200 rounds through a new gun less than :30 minutes $ 13 midday special, reasonable. About as nice as a firing range as you’ll find.

Top Quality Range and employees! Having recently moved to the area, I had been searching for an indoor range and I have found it. I stopped by last week to check it out and Adam showed me around and was very professional and informative. Returned early this week with my wife and used the rifle range to zero my new AR15. RSO’s were great! Professional and Safety conscience without being condescending or rude. Joy was very helpful at checkout and also assisted my wife with a Sig .380. I’m looking forward to many more visits to my new range!

This is a clean well managed place with good instruction and supervision. Exactly what you need when firing live rounds! Great place to take your concealed carry permit class. JT did a great job!

Love this place. Electronic pistol range with preset programs. Does not get much more fun than that. Fantastic shop, if you want it they either have it or will have it. AR bar(yep) pistols(yep) rifles, shooting glasses, clothes, and so much more. Always my first stop and then I end up spending all my money.

After Barry L’s reply this reinforces the fact that I will NOT be back and I will NOT recommend your business. Basically I am being called a lair with comments such as: «you were correctly charged $ 43(not $ 53 as you state)» By the way… My name is Jim not Joe… so how did you: «we reviewed your invoice to see if we made a mistake» I am more than willing to post a picture of my my credit card statement if you would like proof that I was charged $ 53. The bigger issue is that when I asked if your business offered military discount I was made to feel like I was asking for a hand out. I usually never ask for a military discount but when I was surprised by a such a high price for using your establishment.

I love Open Range. They may be a bit more expensive but you can always go at a different time and take advantage of their specials. They have lunch specials, Ladies night specials, date night specials, etc. The guys are super nice and always willing to help. Just ask! I love that my gun skittish girlfriend finally went with us a few months ago and now LOVES going. My hubby took her for the first time and taught her about gun safety and how to shoot. Then we went out as couples for a date night and had a blast. Definitely a fun and different date night! They also have a rifle range which a lot of gun ranges do not have. We have been a few times to shoot at that too. I know if you go farther out it is less expensive but you have to haul your ass an hour away. I am super happy there is something that is 15 minutes from my house and I can figure out a time that is convenient and less expensive. Yay!

Great indoor range. The facilities are professionally run. The customer service is always friendly. I’ve been coming to this range on monthly basis for close to 10 years. They have even helped me sight in a few rifles/scopes that I was having issues with. I would recommend this range over any in Louisville metro area.

Open Range is the benchmark facility for indoor shooting ranges! It’s the only range my wife will use. The folks are all professional and helpful without being intrusive. I really appreciate when they offer assistance. The entire facility is clean, well lighted, and well appointed. Nothing bad to say about it at all — it’s first class by every measure! I just wish it were closer to home!

Totally first rate staff & facilities! Like very much the range safety measures & how the staff is always willing to help. I shoot there often & took my CCDW there as well. My wife really likes it is woman friendly with woman only events. Sent several to the range to shoot & all came away thrilled with the experience.

This is really a great gun store. I came in to check out their handgun selection and I was really pleased to see that they have a nice selection of used guns also. They also have more Kimbers than I have ever seen and a great selection of nice and other accessories. The staff here is really great. I think the guy that helped me was Andrew. Knowing that I recently relocated from CA to KY, he showed me all kinds of greats toys I can now own. He spent a lot of time answering questions and he really provided some great customer service. This is my new gun store!

I have limited experience at indoor ranges, admittedly, but this one sets the bar for me. This review is for the 25 yard pistol range only, as I have not yet used their 100 yard indoor rifle range, or their paintball area. First — the ventilation is terrific. You can see and smell the difference if you’ve ever been to a range without adequate ventilation. Any range is going to have some lead in the air, so it’s a health issue as far as I’m concerned. I have a son that I bring with me, and I wouldn’t take him elsewhere in the area for this reason alone. Second — the range equipment is excellent. The targets can be set to exact distances(within the nearest foot). And you can run shooting programs, which present your targets at different distances, within your lane. And the equipment is well-maintained. I have never personally seen a lane down due to equipment failure. Third — and I saved the best part for last, is the staff. The folks are friendly, and most are knowledgeable. A «range master» is always in the area to monitor all shooters to ensure they(we) are observing their safety rules. I have been to other facilities where other shooters have muzzle swept me, a new shooter fell off her feet while shooting due to her boyfriend/husband pushing her to shoot something she clearly wasn’t comfortable shooting, and other funny and not so funny«incidents». This just doesn’t happen at this facility due to the ever-present«range masters». I am totally comfortable bringing my 10-year old son to this facility. I can’t say the same elsewhere. They have a small/medium selection of rentals, in the most popular models, if you want to try something new. They even have fully automatic(small caliber) rifles if you wanted to try something more adventurous. The prices reflect the top-notch facility that they are. But the price difference from nearby indoor ranges isn’t that great, while the difference in experience is like night and day.

Two things bad keep this from a five star… They do not allow steel or aluminum casing target ammo(huge downer) and the prices are high. Facility is great and people are friendly.

I’m a fan of OpenRange. I first encountered them when I was looking for a CCW permit: The class was great, the people are friendly, and the facilities are amazing! Their ammo prices can be a bit high(I think that’s a trend everywhere these days), but the service is wonderful. I went in looking for a CCW weapon and they were happy to take me through each popular model they had in stock, explaining the pros and cons of each. If you’re looking to start carrying, or just need a place to hone your skills, OpenRange is a great place to start!

As far as gun ranges go this is the crème-de-la-crème. I know that is a strange comment for the description of a shooting range, but you only have to step into Open Range to see what I am talking about. Once inside you wouldn’t even know that people were shooting guns inside. It looks like a very trendy, elegant boutique that happens to be selling deadly weapons. :) I am a 26 year old very girly female and I enjoy heading out to Open Range on a regular basis to blow off some steam! I feel comfortable, welcome, and safe inside this top notch gun range. CHECKOUTLADIESNIGHTONTHURSDAYS!!!
