Very good selection of popular name brands like Patagonia, Northface, Marmot, Sorel, and many more!

Rented two mountain bikes for 3 hours. Great service for $ 7 per hour for each. The guy was very helpful and friendly and showed us some great trails. We returned after 3.5 hours and weren’t charged any extra.

As I descended my hike in the cool crisp October evening air with my yellow lab, Kibo, I thought… wth…as, …squish, squish,… My hiking boots literally disintegrated on the trail. Luckily, I found Alpineer after a suggestion by an ear spacer wearing lad at Clark’s market. Almost all gear stores are closed since it’s after summer and before ski season! The Alpineer-man helped me find a boot after listening to my hiking needs and made suggestions on their products. I also found a cool jacket to wear around town instead of my bulky North Face hiking jacket. Thanks Alpineer for saving my hiking trip!

My friend and I rented ski equipment and snow shoes here over the thanksgiving break. The service could not have been better. They were friendly and attentive to our needs and skill levels. I would highly recommending going here, if you are in town rather than going slopeside. Thank you.

Went back(grudgingly) in 2011 to get bikes and was happy and relieved to have a much better customer-service experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we did not have all the problems with bike rentals that had plagued us the year previous. Both trips happened over the busy July Fourth weekend, so I don’t think it was a matter of having more time for customers this year. They just did a better job. Hope this continues.

As with the other reviews for this store, the customer service(all they have to offer now with the internet) is horrible and has declined recently. I have been coming to Crested Butte for 18 years and my two recent experiences in the Alpineer have been awful. They want you to shop locally but they don’t have much in stock, unless you want to parade around CB in sporty clothes, and they cannot other any service. I suggest next day with . They didn’t have an item and I was told it is a matter of supply and demand and that most people go to the next town. Remember, shop local!
