This place is great. I’m quite envious of the owner Chris. He works very hard… In the morning he cooks all of his guests breakfast. On good days after that he gets a bit of free time where he can hop on the free bus(pick up 1 block from B&B) and ski for a few hours. Then returns to host a beer tasting at 5PM. Pretty sure I picked the wrong career! Great place to stay. The only negative I have is the walls are a little thin. You can easily hear your neighbors but thankfully this isn’t a party place.

We visited Crested Butte for the first time this past week and stayed at The Purple Mountain B&B… wow, what a treat! The B&B is coventiently located in town, with quick and easy access(by car or shuttle) to the mountain. Our room was clean and cozy, and breakfast was alway delicious… the real star of the show here is Chris, the wonderful owner. His love for Crested Butte, Colorado beer(made evident by the daily complimentary beer tasting), and people makes him the perfect host. No doubt about it, we are staying here each and every time we visit this town.

This is a particularly excellent place to stay in CB. The owner/chef is awesome and the breakfasts are GREAT. Nice rooms, nice location. Highly recommended.

We’ve stayed in a lot of B&B’s over the years but I honestly have to say that this place tops them all. Not only is it cute, the location is perfect and Chris is very knowledgable… not to forget a fantastic chef! Every morning at breakfast he cooks something delicious and lets everyone know what is going on around town that day and can provide good suggestions on hikes/trails and also on restaurants. We stayed in the Crested Butte room which was cozy and reasonably priced; also took the cruiser bikes for a spin around town that are provided for our use. We LOVED our stay and absolutely will return the next time we head to Crested Butte.

I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. The set up is well thought out and maintained and the owner Chris is amazing. He pays attention to the little details and knows everything about the town. Winter or summer, he will have great recommendations on how to spend your day if you are looking for them. The B&B is a very short walk from downtown and very reasonably priced. We are already talking about making our trip an annual event and coming back to the B&B. The breakfast is impeccable; a gourmet experience with normal sized portions and it fueled us perfectly for a day outside. We had ham and pepper soufflé with homemade biscuits one morning and Belgian waffles the next. Chris knows all the best places in town, so don’t forget to ask where to go for dinner! There is also a nice clean hot tub to relax in afterwards, a highlight for sure!

Just stayed at the Purple Mountain in September 2010. Great place. Cozy, welcoming, clean. Chris, the innkeeper, is friendly, knowledgeable and a great cook! Yummy breakfasts each morning. He was also a good guide regarding hikes and restaurants in town. Loved that they let our dog stay with us(for no extra charge, mind you… very rare). We’d highly recommend the Purple Mountain and would definitely stay again.

We found the Purple Mountain B&B when another location that was recommended to us(The Ruby) was fully booked. We haven’t been to The Ruby so it’s hard to compare, but the Purple Mountain B&B is great! The place is decorated nicely with warm colors and comfortable furniture and linens. Our breakfast was very tasty(again, not really gluten-free or dairy-free friendly — but they’re cooking for a crowd so it’s hard to be picky…) and the gentleman who runs the Inn, Chris, is really friendly. He’s got great local tips on places to eat, places to hike, and more. The place is dog-friendly. The only drawback is that you can’t leave your dog unattended in the room. Luckily Crested Butte doesn’t get too hot, so we left our dog in the car while we were out to eat. He was definitely welcome as we walked around town — it’s a dog friendly city! If you have a bike, bring it to Crested Butte. You can easily get around by bike(I’ve never seen so many bikes in my life!) and cars are very careful to watch out for bikers as they tool along.
