Normally, I like my appetizer prior to my meal, but I still give them a 5 star rating! Service was a little slow and I still give them five stars. It is a great atmosphere, and the margaritas are made with fresh lime juice. We had ahi street tacos, yum! And enchiladas, super yum! My husband is still trying to figure out what super yumminess was in the chili relleno! He keeps talking about it since we left. There were 4 of us and we had a wonderful time; everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. Walk there if you stay in town… you will want more than one margarita!

Service is amazing. Food is amazing! We had the salsa flight(the pineapple one is the best salsa we have had), queso flameado, street tacos and Jack fruit enchiladas. Best food we’ve had in a long long time. Drinks were … You guessed it, amazing. Great happy hour deal!

We loved it! DIY guac was delicious and fun. Super sweet waitress was great with our wild toddler. One of our favorite CB eateries!

I’ve been looking forward to eating here for awhile, and finally did with a group of girlfriends. FYI we are not picky eaters. The house margaritas were fine. DIY guac was bland. The queso(which was what we looked forward to MOST) came out AFTER our entrees. Please make note of this on the menu if that’s the case. We asked the waitress where it was and she said it was still baking(20+ minutes)… After much baking the manager brought it out, poured 151 on it, and lit the queso on fire. With no direction on what to do with the«fiery» queso, we were confused and blew it out. The queso was ruined by the taste of crappy alcohol. We asked for the manager and he mentioned that we needed to let the fire go out by itself(uhh but it was already baked for so long). They took it off our tab and offered NO substitute(how about that queso blanco?) other than terrible tequila shots. The fajitas were dry and bland. Service was not so great either. They seemed confused and overwhelmed even though the restaurant was practically empty(looked like most clientele were at the bar drinking). Overall, poor experience despite the really cool décor. You’d expect this place to be a trendy and delicious restaurant. Not so much. Not coming back. We were very disappointed and left dinner hungry and unsatisfied.

Fun restaurant. A different atmosphere than most of the others in CB– a younger feel. Nice ambience and lighting. Food was good– fish tacos, corn chowder. Corn chowder was excellent. Staff were good, friendly. The margarita was okay. Something was off. We are accustomed to Zarela’s margaritas and recipes we obtained from a trip to Mexico. We detest recipes with syrup, pre-made mixes, etc.

WORSTOVERALLRESTAURANTEXPERIENCEEVER. I have never given a one star review before, but wow does this place deserve it. My friends and I arrived around 7:00 pm on a Saturday night and Bonez was less than half full. The restaurant itself is nice enough and the atmosphere is fine, but that’s where the positives end. After sitting down, we waited about 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that we were there. Somewhat annoyed, we were ready to order some appetizers and margs, so we got the DIY Guacamole and the Salsa Trio with chips, plus some house margaritas for the table. We also asked for water because 15 minutes into it we still hadn’t been served. Flash forward a few minutes and we are brought our DIY Guacamole, which just happened to be the best thing we ate all night. A few minutes later our chips and salsas came. The three salsas we received were the worst salsas any of us have ever eaten. I would have rather had salsa out of a jar than that. When we told our waitress we didn’t like them, she said they are«hit or miss.» How can salsa be hit or miss at a Mexican restaurant? The chips were gross also, Tostitos would have been 100x better. When you dipped them in the guacamole they just broke in half and they had no taste. After the disappointing appetizers, we ordered dinner. Two of us got the fish tacos and two of us got the chicken enchiladas. Don’t come here if you’re looking for a cheap meal because all of the entrees are $ 16 – 17. Meanwhile, we got another round of margaritas. When our waitress brought them to us, we were told they were out of limes. HOWDOES A MEXICANRESTAURANT/TEQUILA BARRUNOUTOFLIMES?! Flabbergasted, we drink our margaritas anyway, now knowing that they are made with lime concentrate. Our food comes about 30 minutes later(slow service, slow kitchen is the norm around here, even when it’s not busy). My friend and I who ordered the chicken enchiladas immediately notice that something is off about them. They looked very flat and when we looked inside of them, we noticed that the only thing in there was a little bit of cheese. We said something to our waitress and she told us they must have forgotten the chicken. HOWDOYOUFORGETTHECHICKENIN A CHICKENENCHILADAFORBOTHOFOURMEALS? She apologized and said they would make us a new one. 25 minutes later(no, they didn’t expedite our meals they messed up) we got new ones with chicken. By that point, we were so frustrated that we barely even wanted the enchiladas and our waitress did not take either of the meals off the bill. In fact, we were charged a $ 1 extra each for the chicken. My friends who ordered the fish tacos said that the fish was disgusting and that the beans were the only decent thing on the plate. Overall, Bonez has terrible food and terrible service and I would recommend avoiding this place. I would rather eat Taco Bell than ever step foot in here again when I’m in Crested Butte.

We were a group of 8 that headed in there for Happy hour. The service was terrible. The server was not into it and he took forever in every step. And the food was worse. The carne street tacos were terrible. Poor quality of beef and it was in a strange marinade. We were given 3 salsas and none were good… Just alright. We were very disappointed as we had high hopes as the décor was awesome… hence the 2 stars. It has potential but the service and food need to take a big step up.

WIth the same owner as the much-revered Secret Stash, they’ve stepped up their game since my first sampling of Bonez on opening week this year. What was originally a fleet(yes, I tried every single one of them) of astoundingly bland street-tacos(amazing, considering what interesting ingredients they had per the menu) has become a pared down selection with much better flavors. I especially enjoyed the pork and the veggie offerings. Happy hour is definitely the way to go, with a smaller selection but great prices. The smokey repasado margarita washed everything down satisfyingly and the salsa(which must be ordered at an additional cost) was tasty but not cloyingly spicy. Atmosphere is one of the coolest of any Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to, with the building being what appears to be a gutted-barn and bearing an urban-industrial chic with floor-to-ceiling decorative bookcases. Custom welding and repurposed glassware abound. Highly recommend both Bonez and Secret Stash when you are in the Butte.

Come for the self-mashed guac and out-of-this world margys, stay for the amazing décor and laid-back vibe. A true gem.

It’s been over a year since my last review and Bonez has only gotten better. Not only have they built out the building a little more, they’ve built out the menu. I may be late to the game, but now they have enchiladas, fajitas, and more. We went for lunch so we had the option of street tacos and the regular menu. Apparently, they only serve street tacos until 5:00. They are still amazing — meaty and delicious. The margaritas are still solid with an excellent array. If you’re not familiar with Casamigos tequila(and not driving), I recommend the Powerhouse«margarita.» I had the enchiladas and the enchilada sauce was bueno. I liked the red. My wife liked the green. We didn’t mess with Mr. In-Between. They’ve got a new river room which puts you close to the river with the water sounds in the background. It was such a pleasant lunch back there. I’ll go back. You should go. It’s well worth it.

Tequila. Check. Street tacos. Check. You got the two major food groups covered here. Über cool décor, one of the best backlit bars, and an awesome take on Mexican, including Margaritas and pork tacos.

Great décor, nice menu, good portions but entrée’s are bland. The black beans had more seasoning than the enchiladas. Margarita was made with fresh lime but not much of it. This place shined at dessert! Chocolate tort was outstanding. Would come back to sample the other desserts.

Never fails! I have been there every time I’m in town, some times 2x during a visit. I love the food there, full of flavor. Great service always. But I do always sit at the bar, so can’t speak for the restaurant. This visit we tried the spicy mash potatoes, the elk CR, fajitas one night and off-course the guac. Love this place and tequila selection is great!

Oh my gosh, I cannot believe some of the negative reviews I have read here! Perhaps we hit them on a great night, but we had an OUTSTANDING Experience. We found the ambiance of the restaurant really cool. Our waitress, Chelsea, was amazing. Great service, accommodated all of our wacky requests without fail. She had a great sense of humor and kept our table laughing. We had ordered one flight of salsa, but two were brought by mistake, and we weren’t charged for it. The do it yourself guacamole was some of the best I have ever had. And I will be dreaming about their queso until we visit again. My wife and I both had the Scorpion margarita and it was one of the best margaritas we had ever had. I had the Lobster Tacos and they were damn near the best thing I ate my weekend in Crested Butte. My wife had the fajitas, which she enjoyed even the next day after reheating. it was a little pricey, but the overall experience was worth it.

What a surprise. Passionate chef. Creative, inventive and gives a shit. This is sophisticated food in a resort town where steak, pizza, fried foods dominate. Chef is the real deal in town. I had ahi tacos he customized to my particulars after coming out to talk preferences. As a Seattleite I’m finicky about my seafood as was apprehensive. Food was clean, crisp in flavor and balance. I’d come back to crested butte just to dine here again. And the margaritas are dangerously good.

The place itself is worth visiting… something different to look at in each direction. We came in with a group of 12 and they were so accommodating and helpful! Drinks: Margaritas are very strong but yummy. Food: DIY guac was really fun, fresh, and delicious. Fajitas were really good. Burritos were huge and I think everyone loved theirs. Calamari was chewy & had too much breading(but so much other food to go around no one complained).

really quite bland. nothing remarkable about the food except how bland it was. All 4 of us had different dishes and they had no flavor. Bland mexican food? Odd. the chips were the best I’ve had, but the rest of the food was a waste of time and money. Don’t eat dinner here. You will be underwhelmed and disappointed. Service was good. Food was not.

Pretty fun place — I was there on a quiet night where most of the bar traffic was locals. The tacos were good, salsa and chips were as well. The shredded beef in my taco was a little dry — probably because I was there on a very slow night. I heard other comment that the entrees were so-so, but also that this place started as tacos and has evolved to add entrees. Order tacos, ha ha. Lots of tequila behind the bar if you’re into that. Overall, I think a fun place to stop in CB, especially if you have a fun group with you. The décor in this place is really excellent. Interesting places to sit are the bar and the community table.

Amazing happy hour with both food and drink specials. 4.5 star food and drinks– awesome street tacos(and $ 1 off at happy hour). Carnitas, Al pastor, Pollo tinga, Chorizo/sweet potato were all delicious. The cactus ones looked fun too but I was too full to order another round of tacos. Margs were delish(and also $ 1 off at hh). Queso dip($ 4 hh) was probably the best– couldn’t stop eating it and didn’t want to look at any more tortilla chips the entire following week. 4 star service– waiter was friendly and prompt, hostess was just so-so. Hip, industrial feel inside(fairly dark inside when it was raining out and not very cozy– but that’s not really the ambiance they’re going for). Patio by the river to the side too. Would definitely come back for happy hour(8 tacos, 1 bowl of queso dip, 2 sides of beans and rice, and 4 drinks later, we left for under $ 45– a total steal).
