We had a fabulous evening for dinner here. It was not terribly busy, we did make reservations though based on others experiences. Bruce was our server and he was just great. Attentive without being at the table every other minute. We received our drinks and bread promptly with enough time to linger before the apps came out. Hubby got the pear salad, but wasn’t a fan. We totally expected to pay anyway, but they removed it from the bill without us asking. I ordered the pasta fagiolo soup which was very tasty… the $ 5 bowl was a meal on its own. It had bacon in it that was still crispy, even after being added to the creamy soup base. My husband got the lasagne and I tried the pork bolegnese special over rotini. Both were excellent. Again, you could feed a village on the portions, so be prepared to take some home. I will say the only negative at all would be the parking. We have a truck and it was rather a tight squeeze to navigate the parking situation. Otherwise, no complaints.

Had a great meal. True NY Italian. The pasta was perfect just enough salt and cooked al dente just like my grandma Terrasi. Everything is cooked fresh to order an more than ample servings. The owners come from 3 of the 5 boroughs and know how to manage a small restaurant in order to serve everyone without having to turn people away. When away from Carmies, Tony D’s and the Rao’s community, this is a great family owned place that hits the spot.

worst restaurant i have ever been to. food was awful. the service is worse then id get at a mc donalds. no refills even after we asked. the waitress took are utensils and said she would bring us new ones. those never came, even when we asked. all seven of us got rushed out during their easter sunday buffet. i tried to send this place a email. got sent back as an error. this places email address doesn’t exist. this place is my first ever Unilocal review and probably last. this awful place should be closed.

If I could give zero stars I would!!! We went for Sunday brunch and my friend has a medical condition where she can’t eat quickly and drink quickly and we were forced to leave early. The manager said, «if I would’ve known of your medical condition, I wouldn’t have reserved you a table.» If they have time constraints, they should tell people this. I’ve never witnessed a manager discriminate so openly and publicly. My boyfriend wanted a mimosa and they said they couldn’t do it and he waitress said how about sangria and I said«he doesn’t like wine,» she then said, «but he drinks champagne doesn’t he?» The comment was completely uncalled for, rude business and rude waitress. Don’t go here because you will be mistreated

Food used to be awesome but they must have a new chef. Food isn’t what it used to be but it’s still decent. Service is usually pretty good. Parking can be a nightmare if it’s busy. Still a little pricey for this area. Atmosphere is cute, very small inside but quaint. Portion size is on the small side. Drinks are expensive. I give it 4 stars since I’m hoping it goes back to how it used to be in the near future. Used to be a favorite place of ours.

It’s the Poconos so that should temper expectations and it has a cute setting, but it’s way overpriced and I wasn’t impressed with the food. Pet peeve for any place that calls itself Italian is mushy overcooked pasta — ruins every pasta dish. Combine that with bland sauces(for me, the picatta) and small potions of meat and I’m left wishing we had stopped for pizza.

We had really high hopes for this restaurant. The menu appeared very extensive, it’s got great curb appeal and it had some really great reviews. Unfortunately this restaurant didn’t pan out. At an hour and ten minutes the only food to appear at the table was bread. When we inquired about our salads we were told the kitchen was running behind because the restaurant was full. We had to speak to two different servers before getting salads 12 minutes later. When we inquired about how long our mains would take, the hostess told us «it’s going to be a while.» We asked for a check so we could just leave. Amazing enough, we had to chase down a waitress to pay the bill. On the way out the hostess argued with my wife and claimed that we should have noticed how busy it was and expected to wait a long time to get served! One would think as opposed to arguing the right thing to do would have been apologizing and not charging for the two salads and two glasses of wine, but once you’re on the fail train I guess it’s hard to jump off. In summary, only go here if you’re into long waits and an obnoxious hostess.

Very good food. Pricey but not too much of a difference than a decent Italian restaurant. Service is friendly and attentative.

Great food and service but slow kitchen. Not sure if I just need to slow things down when I’m in the Poconos, but 40 minutes for appetizer calamari to show up at your table is a bit long. At that point, we decided to cancel the appetizer as it was getting late. Staff was extremely apologetic and comped a drink and our side. Our entrees arrived shortly thereafter, 50 minutes after our order was placed. Once the food arrived, it lived up to the expectations delivered by the reviews here. Thank goodness for the free wifi as it provided our kids with the entertainment needed to keep them from unraveling sitting hungry for that long.

Best Italian food in the Poconos! Love it here. This is our third visit since we discovered it which was only about two months ago. Thank you, people of Unilocal,we would never have found this place without your reviews.

Good food, nice ambiance and friendly staff. Didn’t have a reservation so we were seated at a high top in the bar. It was surprisingly comfortable given that I’m short and usually find the chairs uncomfortable. Unfortunately a very boisterous group soon came in and made conversation near impossible. The food was good. The bread is served with two dipping sauces and the house wine is good. I ordered shrimp scampi which came with four large shrimp and perfectly cooked linguine in a pleasant garlic sauce. My husband ordered a few sides. Biggest complaint was the timing. We were seated before 8:00. Took 15 minutes to get wine, another 15 to get bread. Salads came 20 minutes later and main course a good 35 minutes after that. All in all, a nice place in the Poconos but be sure to make reservations and come prepared to wait a little time.

Hidden gem, close to our hotel. The food excellent, drinks even better(I can’t remember what the waitress recommended, something like Lemon Drop? it was delicious and we had several… that’s why I can’t remember the name ;)). Pasta alfredo and meatloaf outstanding. The staff was incredibly nice, we will be back!

Who’d have thought you could get such great food in the Poconos. A few highlights … — baked stuffed clams which were sooooo delicious — frutti di mare: comes in a trough and wonderfully flavorful — fillet mignon: generous 6 oz portion cooked perfectly Basso is not cheap, especially by Pocono standards, but if you’re looking for good food, you’ll be hard pressed to find better.

I just held my future sister-in-law’s bridal shower at Basso. Staff could not have been more friendly, especially Kim, Val and Christine. Thank you! Special thanks to the owner Gracie who help customize a wonderful menu for our event. Everyone really went the extra mile. The food turned out great. All of the guests were really pleased. I highly recommend the calamari with capers and the eggplant rollatini as appetizers! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ll be back when I’m in the area!

We are vacationing in this area. The food and drinks are delicious. The wait staff is very friendly. The hot fresh bread came with delicious olive oil with garlic and fresh parsley. The pear walnut salad is just perfectly coated and is not drown in Dressing. They are willing to accommodate my son who«does not eat anything». They steamed some broccoli for him. The onion soup is that perfect saltiness. The main dishes are like the typical giant size. The place is clean and the atmosphere is causal but dressy enough for a romantic dinner. They do have large table for bigger parties.
