There are certain things that I always go to OceanState JobLot to purchase. For example kitchen sponges, wrapping paper and gift bags, photo albums and calendars, and spices. But I usually always find something I wasn’t even looking for when I’m there. This summer I bought a 2 pack of self coiling hoses for $ 20. They lasted fine the whole summer and I am looking forward to using them again. This store is a little more organized and clean than the branch that closed on reservoir avenue. I was happy to see that a lot of the employees of that store were able to transfer to Elwood avenue. Because I am always in for my regular items I can sometimes get treated to something I didnt know I needed.

Do you need random crap? OSJL has all sorts of random crap. And at a discount. Cheap stuff that I recently bought: roll of velcro, furniture felt sticker thingies, HDMI cable for $ 5, wood furniture polish, mailing envelopes, organic sunblock, New Balance work out shorts for $ 6, generic super glue, Rembrandt toothpaste, Italian leather gloves, crock pot, rash guard for surfing, universal phone car mount. Cheap stuff I was tempted to buy today and now regretting I didn’t buy: steel toe rubber boots, bamboo socks, camping grill and Sternos, organic pasta, reams of office paper, nitrile work gloves, massive bag of Belgian chocolate. I hate shopping, but shopping at OSJL is like a conundrum wrapped in an enigma. I rationalize my visits as an adventure in American Consumerism and the random cheap crap I end up bringing home is actually useful. Glad I missed my exit to another OSJL and accidentally ran into this one. It’s probably the cleanest and best run OSJL’s that I’ve been to.
