Way too pricey for food that quite frankly is mediocre. I was hesitant when reading some of the negative reviews that ALL said the same thing. I should have listened. 50 $ for a steak– all fat, nothing trimmed off. There was very little actual meat. Picture attached. Very expensive sockeye salmon– sockeye is the cheapest cut of salmon yet they pass it off as rare and flavorful. It’s rare because restaurants don’t use it because it’s cheap. If you’re charging 30 $ it better be king salmon. Want farm to table or organic food? Whole Foods in Clark will honestly deliver better for wayyyy cheaper.

Sitting outside on this cool June evening was heavenly. I started with flash fried chick peas with an aioli drizzle. The homemade dinner roll was superb! Then I had cream of fennel soup that was creamy puréed fennel. It was a thick consistency like pea soup and tasty. For my main meal I had a ribeye steak that wasn’t as tender as I had hoped being that it was organic and locally sourced. Everything is locally sourced, by the way. The food is good, service great, and atmosphere very comfortable. It had a beach house feel and I like that – especially in NJ. I’d come back!!!

I visited A Toute Heure for their Second Saturday menu this past Saturday, going for the first time on a vegan diet. I spoke to Crystal, who handles the reservations, and she assured me they served vegans regularly. When I arrived, Andrea, the head chef and co-owner, was in the process of handwriting a beautiful menu just for me! That’s right — a custom menu with choices for every course! Everything I ordered(grilled green tomato salad, sourdough toast with pureed sweet peas, and flatbread salad pizza with potatoes in place of cheese) was as beautiful and delicious as could be. As usual, the service was also lovely, and I knew I didn’t have to be wary of any hidden ingredients. My only regret? I forgot to take pictures! Thanks, ATH, for another memorable meal. I will be back soon!

The salt sprinkled bread with fig butter was really good. The mussel pot was great with garlic butter. The service was very friendly and professional. The fish of the day was my least favorite. Overall, enjoyed the dinner very much.

first time here here with fam; cozy, warm atmosphere, extraordinary service, and great food. after being seated, we were immediately greeted by the owner who eagerly gave us a quick description of the different order options. the waitress was also very open to questions and the attention we received throughout was very appreciated by us. something that catches people’s attention here is the fact that everything here is fresh. their food certainly lives up to the exceptionally fresh flavors they are thought to yield. their menu is filled with unique dishes and supposedly changes every month, so I will definitely be paying another visit here. and yes– the ath muscle pot IS just perfect.

Food: I had dinner with my wife and we split two«bites»(smaller than app) to start. The first was a small bowl filled with hummus, goat cheese, beets, some other veggies and a soft boiled egg. I liked it, but my wife wasn’t big on it. It is certainly a unique dish, but I’m not sure I’d get it again. We also split the fresh mozzarella. It was served with some type of green sauce and toast. This was pretty delicious and probably something we’d get again. Main courses included the tomahawk bone-in ribeye for my with with fries on the side and I ordered the scallops which were served over quinoa cakes and a yogurt purée with root veggies on the side. Both were delicious and something we’d order again. To finish, we had the peach and apple cake with vanilla ice cream and we added a scoop of salted caramel ice cream on top. Awesome. Might double up on this next time. Service: well above average. You’re greeted by the owner after you take your seat. He goes through the menu and just makes you feel very welcomed to be there. The servers are polite and know the menu. Atmosphere: small, most would describe as cute, clean, welcoming, tight, but not stuffy, fair amount of Windows, comfortable, good for a date night or dinner for four, but not larger groups. Misc: BYOB. It’s easy to see why it’s near impossible to get a Saturday night reservation. We’ll definitely be back, but only for special occasions. $ 150 after tip.

Favorite restaurant! Menu changes monthly and the food is incredibly fresh and delicious. Always a good variety to choose from. It’s farm to table and they make veggies taste good. It’s BYO and the service is relaxed yet attentive. I would selfishly want to keep this gem a secret as its already hard to book a table. However they truly deserve the 5 stars!

I understand why it’s so difficult to get a reservation here! I have been twice and each time was delicious and charming. The service was relaxed yet extremely competent. Everything we ordered was amazing. They start you with amazing fresh warm rolls and a compound butter(not sure if the flavor changes, but my last visit was Rosemary). Both visits I had oysters to start which were fresh and well shucked(not surprisingly as One Hundred Steps is also their restaurant). The entrees I had each visit were flavorful and perfectly cooked; I believe the menu changes frequently based on what’s fresh but I’ve had chicken and steak options in the past and they were high quality and a generous portion. For dessert we chose their homemade ice creams and my husband’s coffee came with a warm cookie– a perfect way to end the meal. A Toute Heure is BYO and has nice glassware for whatever wine or beer you choose to pair with your meal. I’m looking forward to my next visit

The farm to table, locally sourced, idea is always a refreshing find in a restaurant. The location is very small and incredibly popular so make a reservation well in advance. I hear they add tables outside in the warmer months so it’s a little easier to get a table. Service was top notch from the moment we entered. This is a BYOB place so plan accordingly. The menu is a little eclectic so if you are, or are dining with, a picky eater check the menu before you go. Everything we ordered was delicious. This is one of the few places I’ve seen affogato on the dessert menu and it was presented so nice. Overall really nice atmosphere and great food. It is pricey and ridiculously loud inside. The crowd is a little on the uppity side. Go at least once.

We came because we had a gift card, but will return because of the awesome experience. The warm rolls with special butter(I have no idea what was in it, but it was amazing) had me hooked from the beginning along with the burrata(mozzarella) and a fresh, flavorful salad. My fiancé’ had an excellent red snapper entrée with some creative tasty sides and I had the ribeye steak dinner(18 oz) that was as good or better than most of the renowned steakhouses in NYC or elsewhere. Special note regarding Gluten Free … the chef and our server were genuinely«in tune» with my fiancé’s GF situation and provided sound recommendations from a menu with extensive GF options. Staff and service very professional and attentive throughout the evening, from the moment we walked through the door to paying the bill.

First I have to say that I was excited to try this restaurant. All my excitement was quickly squashed when I arrived. Andrea the manager was terrible. I had called prior to move the reservation time. Andrea the manager claimed I did not call. Because I was late due to traffic she cancelled my open table reservations and did not allow me to get points from open table even though I dined at her restaurant. Food is marginal and over priced. Completely over priced.

My first foray into North Jersey was a pleasant one, getting brunch at A Toute Heure in Cranford. It was a rainy Sunday morning so it was super easy to park and walk in right as the restaurant opened. A Toute Heure holds brunch on the last Sunday of each month. Apparently reservations go fast but we were lucky to be seated as a walk-in with no wait. I had the Croque Madame, described on the menu as a «grain croissant, topped with mustard, prosciutto, gruyère mornay sauce & a sunny-side-up egg, with a side of ATH frites and roast garlic aioli.» Delicious! Probably the best brunch I’ve had since moving to NJ. We also had the beignets and duck croquettes. It’s a cute little bistro worth the nearly hour drive to get to.

The service was great the mussels were amazing. Nice brunch spot. We took our banker here and he enjoyed it. I don’t think it did the trick with him because he didn’t give us the answer we wanted on more money for bigger projects lmfao.

This is my favorite restaurant in Cranford! It is on the pricier side, but it is local and organic so… you know. One of the great things about this place is that their menu changes a lot, so you’re sure to get whatever’s in season. The bread is so good and so buttery, and every time I have been here it has come with a different butter compote. The cheese plate is really really good and comes with fresh honey and fruit spreads. The hand pulled mozzarella is okay and really fresh, but very mild tasting. If you come on a Wednesday you will get a little something extra from the kitchen! When I was there last they had this amazing(hear that, AMAZING!) fried goat cheese ball with beets. The main dishes are always really good and exactly what they read like on the menu, nothing more nothing less. The portions are big enough to satisfy you, but you won’t walk away super full. Make sure to get a dessert — the apple cake is delicious!
Cute and home-y ambiance with great food and excellent service. BYOB.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This farm to table French inspired gem is a must visit. Eveverything we had from the dinner rolls, to the fresh mutz, to the stuffed mushrooms, to the oysters, to the Pollack was incredible. But the dish you need to travel far and wide for is the mussell pot with the chorizo. OMG wow. The mussels were fresh, the stock was lick your plate amazing and the chorizo o the chorizo. I think I went to bed that night dreaming of the chorizo. Great for a special occasion and you’ll need a reservation weeks in advance.

This place is amazing! Everything that I’ve had from here has been excellent. The menu changes every month, which gives you a reason to come back and experience the different tastes of each season. On a recent trip in October 2014, I ventured out of my comfort zone and ordered the goat. The dish was served in a large bowl with Brussels sprouts and had a whey broth at the bottom. At first I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I trusted that ATH never fails! When taking a bite of the goat, Brussels sprouts, and whey all at the same time there was so much flavor unlike anything I’ve ever had before. The muscle pots are excellent. Once you finish the muscles you will want to keep spooning out the broth or soaking it up with bread. It’s just too good to leave behind! If you are visiting ATH during the fall, definitely order the apple cake. It’s a perfect ending to your meal on a autumn night. The cake was served warm a la mode style with a delicious homemade berry ice cream. The ambience is romantic and quiet in a little cozy room. They decorate very nicely for each season. ATH focuses on the local vendors for their ingredients which adds to the charm and freshness of the food.

This place doesn’t deserve the hype… The ambiance and simple rustic décor is sort of what you would find in the provencal countryside, but the food is pale in comparison. They flaunt the best local ingredients Jersey/NY have to offer… Griggstown, Tamarack, Happy Valley. But even these ridiculously amazing ingredients can’t make this food good. They feature their mussels and I’ve tried all of them. The mussels are fresh, it is just that the sauces are clunky with no flavor focus or kapow, which is what you would expect for $ 16(half) and $ 30(full) a portion. Kara’s mussel pot with spicy chorizo sausage, saffron cream sauce is I guess supposed to be a southern spain/french/mexican tribute. For me it was inedible with chunks of sausage floating in a miserable take of cream sauce. The ATH steak frites is a marinated + grilled(thank you for doing your job) Happy Valley strip steak(party) with house-made steak sauce(doesn’t steak frites come with bernaise, or red wine or even an au poivre sauce with cognac — don’t reinvent the wheel unless you can do it better) black pepper onion jam(ok) + a side of ATH frites(hmmm — what is so special?) with a roast garlic aioli //42(Really?) The local sea scallops, cauliflower-leek purée, seared onion agrodolce, roasted Tammarack Hollow Farm’s cauliflower, rosemary //34(Boring and heavy at the same time?) Some stuff like the pâté is a value for what it is. But for the most part this place is an attempt at french. if you want french go to Verjus in maplewood. The décor is funeral home circa 1987 but the food will blow your mind. Ok, and my last point is this… don’t name yourself«at all hours» if you need an abacus, calculator and lunar tracking device to figure out your hours. Grr… Wonky hours works in Europe, but in NJ… C’mon. See below if you care… It’s hilarious. When are you open? Lunch: Tuesday — Friday(12 noon — 2 pm); walk-in seating, reservations accepted for larger parties of 5 or more only. Dinner: Tuesday — Saturday(5 pm — 10 pm); reservations recommended. «2nd Saturday»: The second Saturday of each month, we offer extended daytime hours, we are open from 12 noon — 10 pm with our full menu! «Last Sunday Brunch»: The last Sunday of each month, we offer an a la carte brunch from 10:30 am — 1:30 pm. *For all services, except lunch, we recommend reservations!
