This place burned down :(it was great when it was open. Really sad that it hadn’t reopened.

Food is overly bland and barely edible. The place always seems dirty. Not sure where the rave reviews came from — we left and ate somewhere else on the way home — it was that bad!

Ambience was great. Service was decent/friendly. Food was unimpressive. «Homemade» pie was a frozen deal. «Fresh» vegetable was canned. Chicken pot pie was not homemade– tasted like stouffers or something pre-prepared. If you want to make your hunger pains go away and not wash dishes, this place works. If you are looking for great homemade food in a «real» country restaurant, this place disappoints.

When I think about rating this restaurant I really want to give it a 5 star rating because of what it is I mean for where it is located and what I around to compare to compare ther is nothing like it — it deserves a 6 star rating real down to southern chicken fried chicken their fried okra is YUMMIE whatever you order your gonna love it —

I’ve heard a lot about this place over the years, so we stopped in while driving through. The server was friendly and helpful, but maybe we didn’t ask the right questions. She did inform us about a vegetable being pre-breaded, and I overheard her tell another table about not having something because it «came that way». Huh? I thought this was supposed to be a home-cookin’ kinda place with scratch-made everything? The food appeared to be something that had«cooked all day», as in it was cooked and sitting all day staying warm. My sides(turnip greens and new potatoes) were pretty good, but the best part of the meal was the rolls.

Great chicken fried steak, meatloaf and chicken fried chicken. All veggies are good. My wife and I always split the luncheon special and have never been charged extra?

Friendly staff, good not great food. The daily lunch specials are good but lunch are dinner do not try to split a meal with your significant other… $ 3 for a plate on a split. Your kidding me? Has a sand volley ball pit for the younger set and yes, they still sell snow cones on the side of the building.

Very friendly staff, country home cooking. Huge portions! Good chicken fried steak, cold crispy salads, good veggie choices. Quick service. Good for families, elderly people, and groups. I remember when it was a functioning cotton gin. Wide open interior space, I wish they had made it a little more intimate, interesting mural. Have not tried the bar or been there when there is an outdoor event. There is an outdoor deck and sand volleyball that looks like it would be fun. They also advertise karaōke.

Friendly staff, generous portions, and possibly controversial mural what more can you ask for. The restaurant is a remade cotton gin that has 2 levels. The food they serve is southern comfort food, Paula Deen would be proud. When you are seated they bring you a basket of rolls and cornbread, the rolls are ok a little tough but the cornbread is delish. They have daily specials which i opted for something that ended up looking like beef stroganoff, not impressive. My other dinner companions both got chicken fired steak with broccoli casserole which was awesome. The décor is your basic table and chairs or booth but the décor on the walls is rather interesting. There’s pictures and equipment of times when cotton picking was predominant, overall it’s historical. AS for the mural well I might have exaggerated but it does show plantation owners and their fields, how bout I let you see for yourself.

I’ve been here many times since they opened. My dad tries to go every Tuesday for lunch to get his beloved cabbage & stuffed peppers. Their burgers are good and so are the salads, fish, and everything else I’ve ever had. It’s home style cooking. The staff is always nice — and my dad reports that when they see him, they bring his tea without asking. He loves this place. I’ve noticed that they also fold up and move his walker and return it promptly when he’s ready to leave — this makes me feel good to know they watch over him even when I’m not there. It’s good and reasonably priced.

Something for everybody… daily specials or the same steaks you get at the high-priced«chop houses» in Dallas… we’ve gone on the weekends and listened to the live music«out-back» when the weather’s nice… mostly Texas country.

Been coming here for years. Atmosphere is homey and nostalgic, menu is extensive and the food respectable. Nice selection of pies. If you are a non smoker you will want to avoid the booths immediately to the left when you enter as they are too close to the bar area and the smoke smell is strong.

Good, simple country cooking in an old cotton gin. Service was quick and food was good in a unique atmosphere.
