This is an interesting bar, with an even more interesting history. Apparently this bar has been around since 1928. I can only imagine what it was like back then before St. Tammany was the suburban mecca it has become. Currently it is a weird cross between a dive, and a fancy bar. It is smoky, dark and loud which leads me to believe it is a dive. Then I noticed the fancy décor and great selection of liquor and beer which led me to believe it is a fancy bar. I would have never found this bar if it wasn’t for some of my friends who grew up in Covington. After a long night of partying, they took me here. The bar was small and filled with smoke, but the bartender was very friendly. The beer selection was very good. The liquor selection was even better including probably ten different types of bourbon. The later the night went, the younger the crowd got. The music also changed from classic rock to heavy metal. None of that bothered me, but the smoke was overwhelming the later it got. I would recommend coming here earlier in the night. In closing, I liked Tuggy’s, but would prefer less smoke.

I was really surprised when we visited this place. It is very small, but they had good music and a surprising selection of good beer on draft and in bottle. The prices were out of sight as well. It got a bit loud with some rude characters after 10pm, but for an early drink it was very enjoyable.
