The Wash Haus

Why is this place still an operating business.
When I arrived yesterday, a homeless guy was sleeping inside the place. Most machines have out-​of-​order sign to them.
There’s no onside manager/​caretaker.
It’s a shitty business in an otherwise lovely building.

I’m sad. I have been to a fair number of laundromats in my day and this one is just not good. First of all, the change machine Only takes $ 1s. And I don’t have the type of job that provides me with wads of singles. Secondly, I did 4 loads. 1 on cold, 2 warm and 1 hot. I started them all at the same time and they all said they run 30 min cycles. About 15 mins in, one had 3 mins left, one had 6, one 8, and the other 12. When they were all done, steam was coming from the cold wash and the clothes felt hot. The warm load was icy cold. The other 2 seemed fine. A couple of the dryers don’t work which you wouldn’t know until you load your clothes and money and try to turn it on. Then, a drunk guy with a 40 in his hand and another in his pocket saunters in asking me for money to go get himself a cold one as he attempts to engage me in conversation about the same thing over and over again.
That said, the driers are very efficient.

Now, I’m not sure any establishment could live up to such a great name as «The Wash Haus.» That said, this laundry place was pretty mediocre as laundry places go, not that I hold my washing experience to the utmost standards. Everything was fine but pretty dingy. I can’t believe I’m writing about a laundromat. Anyway, just go so you can say «I was at the Wash Haus.»
