Worst service ever! Went in placed an order to go. After 40 minutes of waiting and the person who came in 15 minutes after me received their food I asked for my money back. The lady ran to the back, yelled at the waitress that took my order and came back in less then 2 minutes with my order. And of course through all this not one appology. She did repeat many times that they were busy. I left the food and took the refund. Still no apologies. Never going back.

I used to come here a lot, great food, I think they changed the chef recently, food is still good just not what it used to be.

Really wanted to like this place, especially because it got other great reviews… the breaded almond chicken is just okay. The crispy orange chicken had a decent flavor but very fatty meat. Fried BBQ pork was terrible… inedible :(Fried rice was very bland. Total was expensive for what it is. Would not recommend and will not be back. :(

Been here three times now and have not had a bad meal yet. Service I guess could be a little quicker but the food was good. Get the chicken w/garlic sauce. You wont be sorry.

Really wanted to like this place after reading other reviews. We went for dinner the day after Thanksgiving. The service was terrible! There were maybe 4 other tables and 2 servers. We sat for about 20 minutes before having our order taken and then one of the three items was wrong. The actual meal was good. We had the sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef and pork fried rice. Not sure we’ll go back.

Pretty good, a little greasy. I had the Mongolian Beef and it was good. I would go back. .

The food is mediocre. Chicken chow mien is tasteless. Honestly I’ve had better tasting food. The service is just plain rude. I was still eating my crab Rangoon and the server came by to take the plate. So needless to say my appetizer got cut short. I actually had to get up and find napkins myself. The server decided we didn’t need any even after asking for more five times. My husband ordered a $ 20 plate and five minutes after of it coming to the table the server started sweeping underneath him.

Good location. Good service. Got the Kung Pao tofu — it was tasty, though I’ve had better elsewhere. But I’d go back.

Ordered bbq pork fried rice, got the combination meal version, the mass jail house version, cheap skate version… Dont expect freshly made one. Not the one shown in the picture, not even close. Very disappointed, very. Didn’t offer to make one fresh, rudely took it away.

Place was clean. Not a lot of people were there. Service was good. Did the dinner specials, that came with a soup. I did the sweet and sour chicken and beef and broccoli that came with pork fried rice. I thought my food was ok. Egg flower soup lacked salt. My husband ordered the General Tao chicken with chicken teriyaki stick, that came with the fried pork rice too. His sweet & sour soup was far better than my soup. His food was a little tastier, not nothing that blew our taste buds minds. I probably won’t come back.

Last time I wrote I said this chinese food was the bomb and so of course this was the only place I wanted to eat for my bday :) i had free offers to applebees, Jonny rockets, red robin ect. because yes i am that cheesy and cheap i sign up for all that. lol but thankfully my fiancé knew I wouldn’t be actually happy with any of that food, only that it’d be free :/anyways we came a little earlier at about 2 so we could catch the lunch specials. I got my favorite of course the garlic chili chicken and my fiancé got the Gen taos like he always does(we stick to what we like :). It was busy and jenny was the only one tending to all like 6 of the tables but still she came over took our order quickly, brought our tea(which i usually hate tea but it’s a blend and sweet if you add sugar) and we got our food pretty quickly. Food was bomb like it has been each time and we both ate under 20 bucks which never happens. This is officially my and my fiances go to spot any time I’m spending money to go out to eat :)

I’ve never had good service here, yet I still come back for decent Chinese food with a decent price. So I came in got seated right away. Took about 10 minutes for the lady to came back and to take my order(the house was ha. I’m on a time crunch because I only have half an hour to eat lunch on my break. I asked her I’ll get it «to go». She said abruptly, «then why you sit down?» Told her cuz I didn’t think it’d take that long to take the order. Felt a tad bit better when the cashier apologized about the long wait time. That’s my rant for the day. Cheers!

My family and I came in to eat today, we got the general toas chicken, Mongolian beef, pork fried rice, and of course the bbq pork :) all very delicious, except the Mongolian beef was a little more spicy than I’d have liked. Best Chinese food around, still needs to work on the décor tho

I came in here for my lunch on March 1st2015. I usually eat at the Chinese place right next to Fred-Meyer’s where I work, but being sunday(a religious day for most Japanese and Chinese eateries), I noticed that Golden Phoenix was open and decided to check it out since I was often told their fried rice and crab wontons are good. I walked in, and an african american woman about in her 40’s was ordering her food to go. Nothing really special. However, I’m standing behind her for 25 minutes and the woman taking her order to go sees that I’m there for lunch to actually sit down and eat. Once she asks me, «Can I help you?» I replied«Yeah, I’m here for lunch which is just about over. Can I have a seat please?» She huffed and puffed and put me at a table close as she could to the bathrooms.(Thanks a lot lady. Now I have to smell piss at my table). So as I grin and look at the very mediocre menu of fake chinese food, I decided to get General Tso’s Spicy Chiken with rice and crab puff wontons and a coke. It took them 15 minutes to get back to me to take my order after seating me. Granted they only had 4 people in the whole restaurant. 4 people! Could they not have at least had more waiters on staff except for one older racist Chinese woman who hates white people?(Believe me, I could tell she was racist by the way she was acting to the other white people in the room) So 25 minutes to get seated, 15 minutes to order my food. what else can go wrong? Oh joy the downward spiral of disappointment is just starting here folks. It took them 30 minutes to get me my food. Now I didn’t pay for my food yet. That usually comes after I’ve eaten and I’ve either asked for the check or they give me the check and say«no rush, take your time.» I was seriously considering getting up from my table, going to Safeway, getting their mediocre ‘sushi’ and eat my safeway brand sushi in front of Golden Phoenix just to show them how quickly food should be done. I mean, is it too hard to cater to those who work for a living and only get 30 minutes for lunch? I’m well beyond my lunch being over but I still require food in my stomach. Once the food arrived its portions were tiny. One little ice cream scoop of jasmine rice, one little scoop of fried rice, and the General Tso’s? It was cold, and it was 6 pieces of chicken. 6 damn pieces! It was also chewy which tells me that this isn’t fresh. It’s frozen food they heated in a damn microwave. Yup, Microwaved food. Likely from Safeway. And they had the gumption to charge me nearly 20 dollars for all this. I told the racist woman that the food was cold and to take it back and give me a fresh hot order. She neither took it back nor did she fix the problem but ignored what I told her. What the fu**!? Seriously? You’re going to treat a new customer like this now? So after I finished my cold food, they didn’t even give me a check. Yeah. I could have gotten up and walked right out without paying, but knowing them I’m sure they have cameras and who wants the police called right? So I stood at the front like a dweeb for 20 minutes. Yup, 20 minutes at the front until a young male waiter finally noticed me and asked if I needed anything. I said«yeah I’m ready to leave and pay please.» He rung up my order and when I saw that he was charging me close to 20 dollars I said, «I better get a discount or i’m not paying. That food was cold, it took your female waitress forever to seat me, etc etc.» He said«Oh i’m so sorry if I’d known I’d have fixed your problems for you.» Really dude? I told her, but unfortunately you were left out of the loop for some odd reason. Hmm. I wonder why. Oh that’s right, you were talking to some girl in the kitchen instead of paying attention to customers. So in the end I was able to $ 7 dollars and some odd change. I’ll never be coming back here to eat again, and I hope you heed my words of warning — and stay far from this place. Seriously, eat anywhere else but here. Heck, a new Wendy’s is almost done being built in our town. Save up to eat there where the food is real, made in front of you, and it’s not fu**ing cold! I hope this restaurant sees this message and changes things — or better yet, moves somewhere else. How is this place still in business with rude customer service, cold food, and taking forever to seat customers and give them their checks? Unbelievable.

Today was my second time coming to Golden Phoenix and I must say I was satisfied as I was the first time. First time I came here I ordered the almond chicken lunch special it was amazing, and the crab ragoons which were very fresh and is little hard to understand the waitress but she seemed friendly enough I was little dissatisfied that I was told my order would be ready in 10 minutes and I had to leave another additional 10 minutes once I arrived considering I have a 30 minute lunch it made it a little inconvenient. overall I’m satisfied with their food atmosphere seems a little darker they could use some brightening up at this is typical I found for most Chinese establishments anymore. It seems the ones with the worst record always are the best LOL.

Absolutely love this place. This is our go to Chinese restaurant. There chicken wings with garlic sauce are to die for and I love there chicken chow mien. Did I mention that they have the BEST bbq pork fried rice? Omg, they have the BEST bbq pork fried rice. You definitely won’t be disappointed paying this place a visit!

In updating my review because I promised whoever wrote me about my past bad review that I would come back and give them another try. I believe she said she was the new owner. We were seated promptly by our young server and had waters and tea within five minutes. Everything else with ordering went well. Our appetizer arrived in a few minutes. Decent dumplings. The food was right on time. We were all pleased at how fresh everything was compared to the place we usually go to. My first thought was, somebody’s cooking back there. Very well made! We were asked our star rating for the food and really liked or spicy levels. As we finished up a couple at the table next to us got their food. They got a big beautiful bowl of soup that I will have next time we come here. The décor hasn’t been updated in years so it’s not a place to bring your date to and impress. However, if you want to have a good Chinese meal this is your place.

After my Dr. appointment… we were feeling famished. We hadn’t eaten Chinese in awhile and after looking on Unilocal decided to give this place a go! They had barely just opened so there was only 2 other tables. We were greeted and seated right away. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a wide array of lunch specials to chose from. 26 to be exact! Prices ranged from $ 5.50 to $ 6.75. Each lunch special came with your choice of wonton, egg flower or hot & sour soup and pork fried rice(or sub for steamed white rice). We were also given complimentary tea. After we placed our order we got our soups about 5 minutes later. Both the wonton and egg flower soup was delicious! The restaurant was starting to fill up with the lunch crowd and I could totally see why. There was also a steady flow of people coming in picking up lunch orders to go! Our food came about 10 minutes after our soups. We ordered #2(egg roll, Mongolian Beef) and #23(Fried Chicken Wings, Green Pepper Beef) respectively. We both agreed our food was delicious and a bonus was the price! My Mongolian Beef was really flavorful and had just the right amount of spiciness I could handle. I had a bite of the Green Pepper Beef and that was also tasty, the sauce was perfect! All the while we were there, there was only one person handling the whole restaurant! Considering how busy it was getting she seemed to handle everything on point. She still managed to check in with us and refill our waters. I would definitely say this is a nice gem here in Covington and so glad I found them via Unilocal! If your ever in the Covington area this place is worth a try. especially for their lunch specials! Their regular menu also has reasonable prices and all the main stay Chinese dishes you would look for!
