While not as amazing as Hollywood Forever or Self Help’s offerings to the world of Dia de los muertos celebrations. The sad part is that it’s often on the same day as the other celebrations in the city. Though, for you folks east of the 605, this is probably your closer and better option. You can get your arts and crafts and sugar skulls on with the many vendors here. Kids have a lot of options at this one as it’s a bit more kid friendly than Hollywood forever. And of course, there’s a ton of food options from various booths. Some more expensive than your typical stand. Some priced about right. It’s nice to wander about and look at the many alters that are here. You may not have known who they’re honoring in them, but it’s a great way to pay your respects to the families and spread their story a bit further.

Went to it just this past weekend(Oct 27th), what a treat! Lots of vendors, lots of food, entertainment, Arts & Crafts for the little ones(emphasize on children & perhaps young teens/adults) but come on folks ages 30s, 40s & my age, don’t be selfish & greedy! Leave the crafts & freebies for the children, besides if you want something, just buy it. LOL, I’m dead serious when I say I saw a man that looked like he was in his 50’s making a skull neclace, He Had No Kids…& this big baboon that grabbed about 5 necklaces & ran…(GEESH!!), aside from that, it’s really cool thing to do w/the family, couples, friends, or even by yourself… My daugher really enjoyed herself, she’s a photographer &took lots of pics… Lots of parking too… Definitely coming back next year if they have it.

It was a fun evening with great vendors and some delicious food. The kids craft/activities area closed early and supplies ran out too quick. Altars were beautiful… just wish the judges had used the contest rules as guidelines. Altar size was not to exceed 5ft. X 5ft. and no taller than 6ft. Some contestants(including the winner) exceeded these boundaries and lacked the traditional elements of real altars. Next year, the emcee should be someone who can pronounce Spanish words and names such as, «Dia De Los Muertos.»
