Upon recommendation of the chef, we came in for lunch. I am so glad that we did, the food was amazing. I’m ruined for other pizzas now. A hidden gem in the heart of Coupeville.

This restaurant is fantastic! Was on vacation in the area and ended up eating at Ciao two days in a row! Tried five different pizza’s and they were all delicious! All the staff was very friendly too! Highly recommended!

We stopped by here after a quick Unilocal search, looking for a moderate place to eat that was good for kids. We were very impressed! There were six of us, and amongst us we had the spaghetti, baked ravioli, magherita pizza, fettucine alfredo, and mussels diavolo. Everything was delicious, and even though the pizza was clearly freshly made, everything came out at the same time and very quickly! This was not for lack of customers, however. We did not realize how popular Ciao is, and arrived without a reservation — and with no available table. However, they quickly considered for a moment and managed to arrange a table us. It was in a bit of an awkward spot, but we were quite happy to occupy it. Everyone at the restaurant was pleasant and friendly, even the gentleman working the pizza oven who was pestered by my smallest children. Service was prompt and friendly as well, and the food excellent, including the delicious gelato and tiramisu cake! The parking lot is a bit of a disaster, and I was quite sad they were out of chianti, but neither of those put much of a damper on the excellence that is Ciao. We live a few hours away, but definitely hope to visit again!

The Ciao Down pizza was excellent… wood– fired with fresh ingredients. The homemade sausage was very flavorful. Hubby had Spicy Garlic Shrimp which was amazing!!! Great spot! Glad we stopped!

I lived in Florence for a bit and had a local spot I’d frequent for Margarita pizza. Ciao is the first place Margarita pizza that rivals that Florence pie. Authentic sauce, brick oven baked crust, and yummy fresh mozzarella. Inside Ciao was quaint and clean. Our server was attentive and inviting, as we came in rather dirty and hungry post hike. My husband had Fettuccine al Fredo. Delicious! My pizza and homemade minestrone soup was amazing.

Great food! Truly rustic Italian pizzas! 5 stars for the food, 2 stars for everything else. Only the décor keeps it from being a 1. Décor is cute but uncomfortable and utilitarian. The patio upstairs is NEVER open!!! Why have a water view patio and never use it! Service is lacking but kitchen guys are always super friendly! The food IS worth it though, I keep coming back

Amazing food and excellent appetizers! Service is not awful but not great. Ciao is a refreshing mix of both casual and quality

Food was over the top amazing! Prices were spot on for the quality received. Only down fall was the waitress. She never introduced herself to us, she acted like she was bothered by us. They were not that busy and we didn’t ask for much. Being personable with patrons should be a top priority. At the very least please introduce yourself. Would have been a 5 star otherwise.

Yummy antipasti platter and all of the bread(ciabatta, pizza and flatbread) is deeeeelish. The meatball sandwich is divine; the sauce and the meatball taste just like my Italian grandmom’s! Servings are generous, so if you’re a light eater, plan to share or take home the other half of your sandwich. The only so-so dish was the mussels, which needed some pancetta to balance the herb broth. Otherwise, they were cooked perfectly.

Surprisingly delicious and authentic Italian food. Between the six of us in our party, we had pizza, lasagna, fettuccine, and soup. Everything was excellent. Service was great too. Ciao is now in my bookmarks, will be back for sure.

Pizza was good, salad was good, although the Goddess dressing was flavorless. The mussels were just okay, the broth was overly sweet and the focaccia was basic. Nothing special.

The gelato is some of the best I’ve had — the fruit flavors are intense. I loved the grapefruit, lemon, and strawberry. It’s a fantastic place to stop on a summer day. There is another ice cream place in town, closer to the water, but Ciao’s gelato is the best.

Service was great and everything came out in a timely manner. We started off with focaccia with a spicy tomato dipping sauce. The sauce had a little spice but not enough to leave the mouth burning. Quite good. I got the ciao Penn cove. The pizza was alright but for 20 I was expecting a clam pie, this was not the case. It had a scattering of clams and a few mussels. What took over the pizza was the bacon. I love bacon more than most, but if I wanted a bacon pizza I would order one. My wife enjoyed the cheese pizza. Life hack, we saved what was left of the appetizer sauce and used it to dip the pizza crust. Overall the pizza is good and I would return but make a different pizza selection.

What a happy evening we had at this place. The atmosphere is casual, busy, a little noisy and fun. The owner climbed to the second floor to choose a nice table for us with a water view. Our waitress took a genuine personal interest in us. The Pizza and salad was wonderful. Totally enjoyed Ciao and will return. Probably lots.

Very good Italian food, a nice little view. Portions were just right, fresh house made bread reminds me of bread we had in Italy. They let the ingredients speak for themselves, which the best cooks do. Sit down and relax.

I really love the food here. My favorite dish is definitely the baked ziti, though I also love the moo-ciao. The Gelato is fabulous and I love that they make gluten free so I can lunch they’re with my dad. I’ve found the staff to be very helpful and competent. And the owner, Mark seems very nice and receptive to suggestions. I’ve eaten here several times and will definitely do so again. Especially now that they deliver!

Went during Musselfest this March Musselfest this year had a record number of attendees – and most of the town was caught off guard. Chowder tickets sold out, restaurants were selling out of mussels(apparently the whole town ended up being mussel-less), and restaurants were straight-up running out of all food. Enter Ciao. Desperate for food, any food, we were hoping being a block or two away from the festival would yield results. This place had perhaps the most heavenly garlic aroma I have ever smelled. The owner(I believe?) seemed a little stressed – but I doubt a business owner in town wasn’t stressed. I was concerned due to the crowds we’d have a long wait for our food, but it zipped out – so fast my mom and I were worried it was a mistake! The pizza might have been the best I have ever had. I mean, hard to go wrong with prosciutto and arugula, especially when you are starving, but everything worked in delicious melody. Will definitely be back! I am hoping to try their mussel pizza next time I am in town – unlike Serious Pie in Seattle’s clam pizza, something tells me Ciao’s won’t be drowning in salt!

Solid bet that gives you real Italian cooking, selection for anyone on the menu, great service, and very reasonable pricing. We were told the owner imported a number of ingredients from Italy and blends them with local island produce to create dishes. Pizza probably the main draw, but several pasta dishes(and specials) were being ordered this night. Oh, don’t forget the vino too(which BTW seemed significantly stronger than your normal table wine). Score! Had the caprese, scampi pasta, and diablo fettucine(special). All legit. Each dish served with bread plus some more separately too(fresh baked but heavier type, yes!). Kids would dig this place. Perfect after a day at the beach.

I LOVE Ciao. This community is lucky to have such a great gem; the restaurant reminds me of a great authentic Italian place in San Diego with a downtown setting that I love so much. Ciao is the kind of place I could frequent a few times a week or even daily if I lived a tad bit closer and will always be my number one pic on the island. The service there has always been fantastic, the lady(who is always there) is genuine and always gives the best service with a smile, every single time. The food is AUTHENTIC, if you are looking for a run of the mill pizza joint this is NOT the place for you. The pizza is the real deal, the closest to Italy you’re going to get my friends. Also, you must try the Fruit of the Forest tart, it’s dreamy. The gelato, perfection. The restaurant is clean and the outdoor seating is a nice touch. The reason this is not a 5 star review is simple. They charge three dollars per shot of espresso; in my opinion paying six dollars for a double espresso after my amazing meal is a price I am not willing to pay… again. I am not cheap, and will gladly pay good money for great food and quality ingredients but never again six dollars for a double. Ciao;)

Popped into the small town of Coupeville while driving around on a trip and decided I was in the mood for pizza, salad, and gelato. The food here was delicious and the service was friendly and decently quick. I got a house salad and was pleasantly surprised with the fresh local greens and veggies used. So hard to find a decent salad in restaurants but I was pleased with this one. The creamy Gorgonzola dressing was really delicious on the salad and for dipping my crusts into. Also ordered a pizza which was delicious for a warm meal on a drizzly afternoon. The 5 cheeses on the pie that I ordered were really good and the crusts were even good too. For dessert, I got a couple of scoops of gelato which really hit the spot. You must try the caramel flavor– it’s incredibly yummy. They get the gelato from a place in Seattle called Gelatiamo, which I ended up visiting when I went back to Seattle because it was so delicious.
