Thunderbowl

My first visit here was for a friend of my daughter’s birthday party. We like it so much that we threw her next party there. The pizza was good, the bowling was fun… even had a few people say that they would return to have their next party there.

I have been coming to Thunder Bowl for so many years. The place is clean and well-​lit, and overall I’ve never had an issue with it. Plus, the lanes are always oiled at just the right levels.
During my last visit to Iowa a group of us made it to Thunder Bowl on a Wednesday night for their Quatermania promotion (every Wednesday and Thursday night, 9:30pm to midnight).
The main thing that peeved me about my experience this particular time was that they stuck 6 of us on 1 lane. I was initially led to believe that this was because we had not made a reservation, but for the duration of our bowling (and we bowled until midnight) there were several vacant lanes on the other side of the alley. Also, right next to us one of the employees had a lane all to himself. So we didn’t even get to bowl a whole two games a piece.
The above aside, this is a good 21+ event if you’re looking for cheap thrills with your buddies. The music can be a bit of a turn-​off, but overall the atmosphere is very fun and, keep in mind, very… Iowa. Put your name on the list early in the day for guaranteed placement.
