We hired Kevin to install new laminate and tile flooring. Initially, he seemed very nice and thorough. They crew was not dependable in terms of times they would arrive or leave. They left the house an absolute mess. The finished product looked great– at first, but within a week the grout between the tiles began to break and the laminate started to buckle. His assistant called and essentially accused us of using inferior products and walking on the tile before it had cured. If our supplies were inferior, Mr. Underwood should have warned us so we could return and buy better products. Unfortunately, blaming the customer and the supplies is a lot easier than taking ownership of a terribly botched job. The laminate was not cut the correct size. It was too large to «float» and the floor began to damage the bottom edges of the drywall cracked. Several panels snapped along the edges of the hallway and in the rooms. I discovered they had glued together a broken tile under the refrigerator. I had to hire a flooring contractor to repair the laminate. I asked him to look at the grout to see if we should be worried or if a simple re-grout would fix the issue. The flooring contractor discovered the grout in the kitchen is breaking up because not all of the tiles had thin set gluing them to the cement board and the cement board is also not attached to the floor. The whole tile floor has to be taken up and reinstalled.
