Great hot dogs. I loved my Chicago Dog. There was a nice large portion of fries. I wish you guys had fry sauce. I loved the soda options.

Very tasty and the owner was friendly and asked how our food was. My chili dog was good but my husband hasn’t stopped raving about the meatball sub.

Best Hot Dogs in SLC hands down! Chicago is authentic and hits home every time. Fries are great! My friends love the Italian Beef but I can’t order anything but the Chicago Dog. They have all variety of toppings to choose from so something for everyone. Owner is always there and super nice.

So for all of you vegetarians out there that think you can never eat a hot dog again… Think again. They had an amazing vegetarian hot dog. The owner said it took him a long time to find the perfect vegetarian dog. The fries were also amazing. The toppings for the hot dog were fresh as well as the bun was amazing! You can tell the owner puts his heart into his restaurant. I’ll be back.

Great food, the owner is usually behind the counter working his tail off. I had the Chicago dog, authentic and delicious. They’re in a small building so it can get packed but it’s worth it.

Just had another incredible dog at Johnnie beefs. I usually go with the Chicago dog, but this time I went with the owner’s suggestion when I asked for something different to try and had an incredibly tasty California Dog. Great dogs, sandwiches and you feel like an old friend when you go in. Great place! Best dogs in Utah

I feel like this place is getting more hype than deserved. We went to Johnniebeefs late one night and got the Chicago dawgs. They were average hot dawgs at premium prices. The restaurant was a bit dingy and the employees weren’t very much help. Asked them for suggestions and all they could say was everything is good. My friends from work went the other day and seemed to enjoy it. I just don’t think it’s worth 7 or 8 dollars for their hot dawgs. Just go down the street to 5 guys if you want a hot dawg with everything on it.

My search for a good dog place is finally over! I’ve tried Icehause and Red Hot, but this will be my number 1 for sure. From a perfectly done Chicago Dog(after all the owner is from the windy city) to a great German Brat with the onions and kraut and oh my… Down to a grill dog which is nothing more that mouth watering onions and tomatoes. If you still believe what the great outdoors said about hot dogs being made of lips and a**holes then Johnnybeefs will change your mind forever. Finally a dog place I can love!

I’ve been looking for a good Chicago dog and boy did I find it! I noticed a lot of people complaining about the price of this place. I think the pricing here is great! My wife and I ordered a two Chicago dog combo and the hot beef sandwich combo. Two hot dogs stacked with topping, hot beef sandwich stacked with meat, huge portion of fries in each basket, and drinks! My wife didn’t touch the fries I ate most of mine but we were stuffed. For all of that it was 20 $. We both thought this place was very reasonable! The food is great and the man behind the counter makes you feel like you’re in Chicago eating a dog! Love this place!

Big fan of hot dogs so I decided to give this place a shot. Very impressed with the menu selection with over 30 dog styles. Service was amazing and food was delicious. Will absolutely come back to this place for another dog when the craving strikes.

I always get the Italian Beef sandwich — hot, wet, and sweet. It is the most amazing flavor! I’m crazy about it and can’t get enough. I’m always thinking about it. I get the combo, which comes with delicious fries and a drink. (It’s in the parking lot with Trader Joe’s.)

When you are craving a fast and delicious meal and your 3.5 year old says she wants a «Hot Dog at a restaurant»…There is ONLY one place that should come to mind… JOHNNYBEEFS! With half a gazillion ways to please you palate and hunger pangs, the menu doesn’t disappoint. All Beef dogs for«Go To» favorites like the Chicago Dog with Nuclear green relish, MUSTARD(Ketchup…are you **Bleepin** nuts!), Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Sport Peppers, Pickle Spear and of course Poppy seed Bun and Celery Salt… The New Yorkie with Kraut, Mustard, Picked Spear and Celery Salt… Or the Coney Dog which is a classic Chili Dog with Mustard, Onions and No Beef Chili with Celery Salt… These dogs along with numerous are others are sure to hit that sweet spot! With all those dogs, it’s almost easy to overlook another Chicago favorite as you sit at the bar height tables looking out over Ft. UNION area, such as the Italian Beef. This Sammy has it all… Salty, Kick, Tenderness and Savory… but…Ya to get the maximum Flavor Town potential of this classic; I suggest ordering it with Extra Hots(hot peppers) Wet(entire sandwich dunked in the braised Beef juices). My only other suggestion that choice, is to eat it fast and eat it over your fries so the can catch those drippings and all that Italian. perfection! Prices are reasonable and the Owner has never failed to greet me as I walk in, as he does to everyone that graces this establishment. Get into a chat with him about the Jordan(Michael)era Chicago Bulls when they went back to back against the local favorite Utah Jazz of the Stockton/Malone duo and you have some entertainment to match the memorabilia on the walls. This is definitely a chill midday eatery to supplement the local shopping bonanza you and a pal or girlfriend are likely to explore as you return Xmas gift or run to the trendy Trader Joes for something out of the norm.

They do a good chicago dog, although slightly different than the ones I had in Chicago(missing diced onions) and relish tasted a bit different. However, I still enjoyed it. The combo meal was about $ 11 which I think is a bit overpriced but certainly an enjoyable meal. I would go back!

Love the Chicago Dog and Tucson with Mac n Cheese Wedges. You know it’s a good dog when you don’t even need to add any ketchup or any other toppings. The owner is very nice and interacts with all the customers. Most of the customers are happy repeated customers, they are very friendly people as well. I know I will be back very soon to try other items on the menu.

Visited there again just this weekend with the better half… and had a killer Chicago Dog(jumbo), and some great fries. I really need to go there more often and try all the other assorted styles of dogs, but I’m just such a sucker for their Chicago Dog. Great fries too. Keep up the great work, and glad to see the store back into a real storefront now… instead of that 7 – 11 or whatever it was.

So in love with this place. I used to go to their old location once at week when it was at the gas station that is now closed down. The owner is very friendly and so cool. Love the many choices of dogs on the menu, I got a windy chili to go last night after eating my two dogs in the restaurant. I loved the fact that it is made from scratch and has just the right amount of heat in it. Can’t wait to come back.

It’s been a year but made the pilgrimage back to JohnnieBeefs for an Italian beef sandwich. I was not disappointed it was as good as ever. Had it double dipped to get it nice and wet and added sport peppers. The perfect sandwich accompanied by perfect crinkle cut fries. Place was spotless as usual and service fast. A little on the pricey side but unlike most places you get what you pay for. Thoroughly enjoyable experience again with an expanding dog and sandwich menu it’s even better than before.

It was really smokey in the restaurant. The burger was made from a frozen patty that looked like it was bought at Costco or some warehouse store. It tasted okay, but I was really hoping for more given the reviews. My wife got a hotdog with pineapple, expecting fresh ingredients. It was canned pineapple, nothing special. I’m not sure if we will go back or not. But, I think it maybe a step up from wienerschnitzels. Maybe I’ll give it a second chance in a year or two. We’ll see…

I was very excited to possibly have an authentic Chicago Dog while on my trip to SLC. My excitement was dashed when I arrived at the storefront at 7pm only to see a sign saying«Closed so we can clean the exhaust hood» I would think that’s a job that could have been done after hours. I remain neutral for now.

I came here on a Unilocal recommendation. It is a local boy’s description of a Chicago Dog(for whetever its worth, ive never been to Chicago) but best Chicago dog that I’ve ever eaten. The thing that I loved more was the Dytka burger. My picky brother and I will be back to try something else soon.

A solid 3 ½ stars for me. First time visit since it’s close to work. I had the Wisconsin Cheese dog, regular size and I’ll say, it’s pretty good. I didn’t get the combo since it was a whopping $ 3.59 for fries and a coke which I think is outrageous. The dog was $ 3.99 so it would be nearly $ 8 for a combo meal and I wasn’t about to pay that. I’ll come back since there are other menu items I want to try.

After three visits with no dissatisfaction I can safely say this place is an American gem. My last visit I had the Maxwell St, a fried Polish sausage with grilled onions and peppers. What a treat! The crisp, fried, natural casing sausage had a pleasant snap when first bit into, and was cooked perfectly. The sautéed onions were sweet and balanced the spice of the sausage well. The Classic Chicago is awesome as well, but grab some napkins because this pile of deliciousness is a messy one. Don’t forget to ask for your sandwiches wet, the jus they dip it in makes the sandwich.

Been to Johnnie Beefs a couple of times now. First time I had the Italian Stallion with fries. The stallion comprises a large Italian sausage topped off with roast beef topped off with some hot pepper mix topped off with some mozzarella cheese and dipped in au jus. It is very large. I am large. I couldn’t finish it. The sandwich was hearty and good although the beef was a little dry and not as flavorful as I would like. Nonetheless the sausage was really good. In my most recent visit, I had the Stan Mikita special. It was an all beef dog with kraut, pepper mix, deli mustard, celery salt and a large pickle wedge. Somewhat like a Chicago dog but with kraut and without the tomatoes or nuclear relish. I also added the side of chili cheese, scratch that, chili mustard and onion fries. The Mikita dog was really good. Kind of hard to eat without making a mess. The dog casing had a nice snap to it and like a good beef dog should, had nice full flavor. The fries were surprisingly good. I would have never put mustard and chili together but they made for a great combo. All in all, this is a good place with good food. The owner is friendly and likes to chat. Nice casual atmosphere. I will also try out the other hot dog styles and sandwiches he has on the menu in the future.

My review from the original location— Incredibly good Wisconsin Cheddar dog. I’m not particularly a fan of this kind of menu too often. Really great. However, it was the superb treatment and attention of the good man running the shop that warrants a top rating. Despite being distracted with our toddler and unsure what to try he took extra steps to accommodate us and ask if we were happy with the food. Fantastic way to practice appreciation for your vital customer but further than that, value them as people!

This is definitely an overdue write up for Johnnie. The new location is much roomy than the previous one at the gas station. Despite having less soda choices here, I think they were able to expand their regular menu significantly with the new kitchen here. I also like the extended dinner hours now. Everything else seems to be the same, and Johnnie was just as cool as before. Aside from the old favorites like the Chicago Fire dogs, I really enjoyed most of the new beef dogs with beef chili in it such as Coney Island and Dirty Dog. Fries with chili just made great comfort food that can turn around your day. Those little peppers really do enhance the overall flavor, and I would like to try all the dogs with peppers in them or add to all of my dogs. Aside from dogs, they also have grinder and hamburgers. I believe there are no better places other than JohnnieBeefs to grab a nice hotdog in this area.

It seems almost a crime to just call these hot dogs. They’re so much more(and he doesn’t limit the menu to dogs). Oh sure, you’re going to find a few simple hot dogs on the menu. But you’re going to see it go so much further. Let’s keep with the simple: the guys is from Chicago. So if you’re looking for a good starter, get that Chicago dog. It’s nice. Then branch out to other flavors – the chili, the Hawaiian, and so on and so on. You may also want to grab an Italian Beef. It’s not my top favorite, but it’s a juicy sandwich piled with beef and sauce. Beware the grinder. Or anything with horseradish. They have a couple of different suppliers or sources, and the stuff I tried knocked me out. Such sinus sensation that I had never ever sensed before. I couldn’t breathe. Not spicy, per se, but aromatic in an arresting way. Yikes. The guy is nice as can be. The food is great, cheap, and memorable. Plenty for the kids to eat, and plenty to keep you coming back to try.
