If I could give 10 stars I would that is how much I LOVE Oliver’s. We moved to Petaluma 10 months ago from the Half Moon Bay area, New Leaf Market and Safeway were pretty much the only game in town. NOT so here! I had no idea that little strip mall was back there until navigation took us there when we were searching for a Starbucks on our way to RP to do some shopping. I spied the market and made a mental note to try it sometime. I finally made it back a couple weeks ago and have been back weekly since. I would compare this to New Leaf over Whole Foods, both locally owned and both far superior to WF. My husband would go as far to say better than New Leaf as well and I tend to agree. Customer service is #1, employees seem happy and its fun to hear them problem solve together, seems like a collaborative environment and I love that. The meat counter is the best I have ever experienced, friendly and I finally learned what a real cut of hangar steak looks like with instructions on how to cook it! AMAZING! Leaving the coast was hard, but there are so many gems of goodness here in the North Bay that I am sure in another year, the coast will be a distant memory. Thank-you Oliver’s for being one of those gems.

Oliver’s bakery is the best! Another gorgeous birthday cake that is not only beautiful but delicious! Every year we order family birthday cakes from Oliver’s, this year my husband ordered a ten inch lemon curd cake and it was outstanding!!! All I can say is, WOW!”

My love for Oliver’s is a little ridiculous. But the product selection is excellent and the sandwiches are great and shopping there just makes me happy. I also love that I can choose a non-profit to donate a portion of my purchase to… when we move out of Sonoma county because everyone from Marin has driven us out… I will miss olivers sorely.

HORRIBLYHORRIBLE(yes that bad) from Melinda in the bakery!!! Called to place an order for my Grandmas 84th Birthday… Was greeted with less then sub par attitude by this lady! She asked the name of the person on the order… Proceeded to give her the pick up name and then she abruptly interrupted and started we just needed the first name. Which is of course fine but please allow me to finish my sentence. I then asked her what size do you think would be best for 25 ppl… Her reply«I’m not sure! «Really Melinda how many people will the cake fed… Simple question or so I thought! Then I tell her what writing I want the cake the read. She of course like the entire was very short and unprofessional(definitely not the level of customer service I expect at Olivers). I then quickly remember she didn’t ask what color or if I wanted any design nothing… So I asked you never asked what color for the cake… Were you making that decision on your own! Then she says«oh yea what color» REALLY! I will not be shopping hear and I can’t wait to speak with the bakery manager tomorrow! Just horrible service!!! Melinda needs to be demoted!!!

LOVE this place!!! I only wish they had 10% discount for seniors available at all times! The store is clean and manageable and even though they recently moved things around I still find everything I need. Great wine department, good selection of French cheese [which I must have in my life]breads are perfect, and the organic and commercial veggie departments are about the same size and the produce is excellent. Meat, fish, dairy… all the BEST! This is NOT a variation of «Whole Paycheck» it is so much better and so much more! People who work at Whole Foods really know little about what they are selling and are more than happy to give you spoiled chicken or three day old fish and call it fresh. People may say that Oliver’s is expensive but it is quality and you get what you pay for. Almost everything that Oliver’s sells that is also available in Whole Foods is less expensive than WF’s and the weekly specials are really that… Special! Try and find two pounds of decent green beans in Whole Foods… Good Luck! Love the people who work here, friendly, engaging, and easy to talk to… and I am glad that the staff doesn’t change every time I shop there, like some other groceries. I actually look forward to seeing some of the employees when I shop, reminds me of why I live up north and yet I am afraid that some of our small town friendliness and good humor is starting to slip away. Keep up the good work Oliver’s! You ROCK!!!

Get a breakfast burrito from here if you know good food and you want quality ingredients. Get one from Safeway if you want diarrhea.

The Philly Cheese sandwich is one of the best quick sandwiches I’ve ordered. They usually make it on a sourdough roll, but I opt for a dutch crunch roll. If you enjoy spicy, add on some jalapenos :) The grocery store is neat and clean. The prices are in between Safeway and Whole Foods. The quality of their produce was excellent and they have a wide selection of beers and hard alcohol. The nice thing too is that you can buy individual bottles from the cold case.

I think Oliver’s Market is a great store, however their bathrooms are deplorable. Walking in almost made me sick. Flies were on the toilet, floors were dirty, garbage was overflowing, soap dispenser EMPTY! An overall disgusting experience. Very disrespectful to the customers who pay TOP dollar for their groceries. I hope this bathroom is not shared with employees who handle food at the store: produce, fish/meat, deli. As I mentioned Oliver’s Market is a great store overall and the team is always friendly and helpful. I hope this bathroom issue is addressed promptly. I will take this review down once I hear back from a manager that this issue is being taken seriously.

This is a local version of whole foods. There is a great deli, taqueria bar, meat section, and also a great selection of beers and wine. It is well priced, and I always get great service when I go there. I highly recommend this for local shopping.

This should be your go-to market if you’re a student at SSU and have half a brain. You can’t go wrong with the: +salad bar: always stocked full, always sanitary. they have a variety of items which will help you craft the perfect $ 7-$ 10 salad. note: get the dressing on the side and put a rubber band on top so it doesn’t spill. +smoothie bar: get the southern comfort! always my go to for decently priced smoothies. if you add ice, it’s cheaper, also– get the emerald energy booster. it turns your smoothie green, and I swear it has magical healing powers if you’re recovering from the night before. +burrito counter: burritos. burritos. need I say more? the mini sized burrito is surprisingly standard size, so if you don’t need a chipotle sized burrito, I would go with this. all burritos come with chips on the side! you go and pay for your burrito after filling out the card, and bring back your receipt, and voila! happiness. +sushi: incredible sushi selection. SSU students will attest to this being a high point of coming here. after 9PM, all sushi is half-off. +wine and beer selection: incredible section dedicated to wine(go wine country!) and to craft beers. lagunitas anybody? You can’t go wrong shopping for your next meal here(or just buying it premade.) Cheers, Olivers!

This review is for the deli sandwiches. The bread was really hard and the sandwich itself was just OK. For the price, it is not worth it. Hope they understand that they need to create some value for the price of the sandwich and make it taste much better.

It’s like the other Oliver’s markets in Sonoma county — The locally owned version of Whole Foods. Great quality meats, deli items, bakery items made in house. Produce section usually carries tasty vegetables and fruits. Tries to source them as locally as possible. Emphasis on organic items. The salad bar is top notch for wide selection, freshness and flavor. The hot /steam table is okay, it is not epicurean cuisine. If you’re craving turkey breast with gravy and mashed potatoes on a cold winter day — This will satisfy. I like the bulk bins for granola, pop corn, etc… Cool that there’s a homeopathic remedies section always staffed by a knowledgeable person. Prices higher than a Safeway, Lucky’s, Albertson’s. But like the man sez«You get what you pay for…»

I love Olivers market. I live very close to it so it is convenient for me to shop here. When I am lazy I love that I can order a sandwich or get hot food off the buffet or go for a salad from the salad bar. I have never been disappointed. I don’t mind paying what I do for the food because I know that everything is cooked to perfection and they use The finest ingredients in all their food

This is one of my favorite places to shop! They have 6 – 7 soups to choose from daily ! Their Organic Chicken and Beef is reasonably priced. I also love their home section. My kids and I love to hang out here!

Pristine produce, great weekly sales, terrific staff, killer taqueria. Ignore the smug reviews whining about customer service. There is no pleasing these people. Seriously. The staff has the patience of saints– putting up with the entitled, rude, bourgeois bohemian clientele. Some Oliver’s highlights: the thai chicken at the hot bar, the mini burrito, the tomato soup and anything at the cheese counter.

Good prices overall in all sections of the store. same items you find at «whole paycheck» but not as expensive. I’ve compared with specific items and holds true all the time. A few weeks ago I made a large deli order and the price was far less than the other places I checked. Picked the order up right after they opened the store, checked it, exactly right and about half my budget. Success! the Sandwiches held up perfectly for the hours before they were served. Shop local! Thank you!

I have been to Oliver’s a few times while visiting my sister at Sonoma State and I like it for the most part. They have a ton of fresh produce, quality ingredients and also a juice/smoothie bar and quick lunch options inside — mini-meals, sandwiches, etc. The service is ALWAYS friendly — I have never talked to an employee who was not smiling from ear to ear. :-) There is a parking lot in front that serves other places in the plaza as well but you are never frantically searching for a spot. It’s a great place to get in and out super quickly.

My favorite grocery store in Sonoma county! Local items can be found on every isle. Excellent deli and salad bar. The deli options are better than Whole Foods. Good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. A bit expensive but you hey what you pay for these days. Staff is always friends and you can always find parking spots.

Overheard today in the aisles at Olivers by a five year old girl, «Yeaaa!, More Seaweed!». More seaweed indeed little one. Thats so awesome. Fresh, local, committed to their employees and community. Support local business.

Okay, where to start. We all love Oliver’s here in Cotati. I’ve been to the other Oliver’s only to find each one the same, but oh so very different too. Well, carry many of the same things, but like any good marketing scheme, cater to the locals. For instance, there’s a terrible price for Lagunitas IPA at the Oliver’s in Rincon Valley. It never goes on sale. And my friend who lives there just says«There’s nothing but old people out here. No one buys it!». But when pointing out, it always goes on sale at «my» Oliver’s she simply quips«Yeah, that’s because you’re in a college town where the kids drink beer.» The largest of the three Oliver’s in Sonoma County is located in Cotati. I think it generally speaking has the best prices between each location and also the best selection. Especially the bulk section. Sprouts in Petaluma rivals Oliver’s bulk section, but only by freshness/sale pricing, not by selection. The main reason I love this Oliver’s, besides being close to my house, always having affordable deals, fresh barbecue to buy that you can smell walking in(on weekends and holidays), the awesome soup and salad bars, the cheese samples throughout the store, the really fresh and obscure produce(like over 10 types of mushrooms, fresh turmeric, fresh galangal, and say … passion fruit?), the fact that there is always a good beer sale(always at least one good IPA on sale each week) — not to mention an awesome beer selection, is that … no matter which way I change my diet/lifestyle they always have an awesome selection of tasty goodness. Oh going vegan this week? Try some fresh sliced vegan bread, or some awesome frozen gourmet veggies patties(I recommend frying in coconut oil straight in a pan for best results), or meander down the dairy isle and at the end is all your dairy free wide selection of vegan«cheeze» and soy based products. They do have some good miso selections too, but if you want a really good miso selection from local companies(cheaper too) head down the street to the Asian market by Mike’s at the Crossroads. Or if you are feeling especially carnivorous, this Oliver’s has killer meat. The butchers will trim, cut, or even order/save special cuts(we once stumbled upon some pork belly for almost nothin) … but hey, don’t all the specialty gourmet grocery stores do that? There is just a HUGE selection here by the other fancy grocery store standards. Ehem, yes, even over Whole Foods in Coddingtown in Santa Rosa. Better prices too. Not that much better mind you, but we all love our grass fed beef and local fresh-never-frozen Rocky Chicken, right? And don’t get me started on the deli … great sandwiches, wraps, and salads. A complaint? The sushi bar. It’s terrible. It’s made fresh but once we had the sushi at Sprouts, couldn’t go back to the packaged sushi at Oliver’s. The rice is really bland and mushy. You can’t have mushy rice in a roll, that’s a no-no. Basically, if you shop the deals here and look to where they can be found you can get out of here with a really healthy basket of goodies at a low price. My favorite latest find? If you buy the sunflower sprouts in the salad bar, they work out to under half the price of the prepackaged sunflower sprouts in the produce section. And you get to pick out all the good ones! Oh and if you ask to buy something by the case(like if the coconut oil goes on sale for $ 7.99 from $ 18.99 or your favorite olive oil goes on sale for $ 9.99 from $ 21.99) you not only get the sale price but you get an additional ten percent off. Awesome! I could really gush about this place for days, but really, I’m sure you’ll just bump into me there tomorrow. And while you’re there, don’t forget to check out the ethnic isle. Everything from authentic Jewish, UK, Irish, and Italian imported food. I wish I could afford all the Italian stuff! Some really great olive mixes, condiments, truffle this and that … ah to be a foodie. To be a foodie, is to love this Oliver’s.
