This is my go to destination for macarons and other random desserts. They’ve got a ton of different flavors and at $ 2 a pop, its pretty standard pricing. Last time I went they also had ice cream sandwich macarons. Seems like every time I come in, there’s something new. Its a tiny shop attached to what looks like a baking school? The other nice thing is that it’s basically right by the back parking lot that’s right off hyland so you don’t have to meander through a million shops to get your sugar.

I’m obsessed with chocolate. I can eat it all day, every day. While eating at Taco Maria, I saw this place and knew I had to try it after lunch. As soon as I walked in, I was sidetracked when I saw that they had croissants($ 3.25) and began to salivate. Immediately, I secretly prayed for it to taste like the croissants I had in Paris. I had Eric Kayser’s croissants in Paris, at the Milan Food Expo 2015, and in New York in August. I’ve been chasing that buttery and flaky on the outside but soft on the inside croissant since I left Paris. THIS came the closest. If it was a little bit more buttery, then it would’ve been it! Regardless, this is where I’ll be getting my croissants from here on out until I find something better. I also got one of their handmade chocolate bars($ 8). It’s dark chocolate with hazelnut. It was divine. I’ll have to come back to try their gelato, macarons, and pastries.

It’s important to note that this place has a chocolatier shop inside OC Mix and then a dessert bakery(mostly macaroons) outside in the courtyard area. You know when all those basic white b*tches exclaim, «I can’t even right now!»? I said that to myself after I delicately placed a chocolate ganache on my tongue. When my teeth broke through the coated exterior, the rich salted butter poured out onto my taste buds. Some people describe good tasting food like fire works in their mouth. But this was subtle and graceful. This was a little sparks of deliciousness. At $ 2 a pop for a tiny square, it seems pricy. But you can’t get this kind of satisfaction from an entire pack of MMs. Ambiance: yes, is a good chocolate store. But you’re owned by a famous French chocolatier and surrounded by little shops going to the Nth degree to seem cuter and hipper than the next. I was craving the boutique French shop feel and it felt more like visiting Sees. It was good, but not take me away great.

I had checked in and posted some photos while I was at Surfas and my cousin, who sells chocolate, saw my posts and told me I had to go to Stéphane Tréand across the street. I was in the mood for a pastry so I decided to walk over there and check it out. It was pretty easy to find, it’s in a little courtyard right next to SusieCakes. It’s a very nice little place. They had macarons, cakes and pastries. I also noticed they have ice cream macaron sandwiches, I’ll have to try that next time. I just got a couple of desserts to take home and eat later. I got one chocolate éclair and one big raspberry macaron. The cashier boxed them both up for me and put them in a nice paper bag. While I was paying I could see a pastry chef piping out eclairs in the back, which was cool. The éclair was about $ 5 and the macaroon was about $ 7. The second I got home I cut a section of the éclair off and ate it. It was amazing, the pastry was crunchy as a I bit into it, but then as I got to the filling it was soft and fluffy. The vanilla filling was so good and very light. I liked the touch of adding the little chocolate balls on top, they added a nice crisp crunch to the pastry. Later that day I split the macaron with my Mom. It just seemed like a macaron filled with cream and raspberry, but I discovered there was some raspberry jelly inside the cream. It was a nice little surprise. The desserts here taste just as good as they look, maybe even better. I’m really happy my cousin told me about it. Glad I didn’t miss out.

For $ 2 you get a lil’ bite of heaven… and for $ 24 you get 12! Quite stellar for two reasons: 1) I’ve been spoiled by Bottega Louie for quite some time now, and 2) I’m not even a huge macaroons fan. But these are delish! The pastry class going on next door to the shop sounds fun, too. And while $ 10K might be a bit steep for someone who’s busy paying off her worthless MA degree in English Literature, I’d most def like to have a go in my next life. And if you’re wondering how on earth a pastry class could cost so much — even when considering this IS Newport Beach — please see the LA Times link below on MOF Stephane Treand.

Delicious macaroons and unique flavors! Love that some have two different flavored«buns» on either side like the green tea-hazelnut and the orange-chocolate. They are fabulously fatter than most macaroons and the fillings are delicious. They woman at the counter was so sweet as well and told me about the baking classes they have each Saturday in their kitchen at the same location. Very cool place. I’d recommend the green tea-haze it and the black currant.

The staff was nice enough to allow us to sample some of the gelato & sorbet before purchasing. The passion fruit sorbet was really refreshing. I ended up getting a macron ice cream sandwich for $ 5, with the carmel gelato. Overall, the gelato & macrons are OK. I’m sad that Nice Cream is closed — they had awesome gelato. Although I didn’t get to try them, there are also chocolates, macrons & little desserts for sale here that look amazing.

The chocolates and pastries look quite yummy but are a bit onthe pricey side, which is why I haven’t bought any yet. I am also curious in the classes that they teach but again on the pricey side. Did get their pistachio gelato, which is pretty dinky and comes with a flimsy spoon, which isn’t very effective to eating. Tasty gelato but waaay overpriced for how little you get. Also hopefully you’re not there when folks with Asian fetishes are there. Some customer an «Asian expert» was attempting to hit on the staff, trying to figure out her ethnicity and doing the stereotypical«I knew it» when he finally got her ethnicity. Seriously, major eye roll.

Came in on a Sunday evening about an hour before closing. Thought they’d be out of everything but I was pleasantly surprised. There was a large variety of macarons, a smattering of pastries, and can’t forget their gelato and sorbets. Ordered 6 macarons… passion fruit, earl grey, lemon, coconut, orange chocolate and salted caramel. The cookies were light in texture and the filling was more like a frosting type. $ 2 each which is the average price for macarons. Nice flavor but not spectacular. And I’m searching for spectacular… We also had a ice cream cone with two scoops($ 6, a single is $ 3.50). Banana gelato was a winner, and the strawberry sorbet was ok. The pastries looked beautiful, next time I’d try a few. Nice addition to the mix, I’d pop in to get a dessert or two if I was dining in the area but wouldn’t make a special trip for it.

Love this place! If you ever see the pear tart I would highly recommend ordering it!(I think it’s only made if the pear is in season). That being said, all the desserts are made in-house using the freshest ingredients! I have also tried the Raspberry Macaron(sweetest and freshest raspberries ever. with a lychee surprise in the middle!!), Coffee Éclair(SODELICIOUS!!), and the Passion fruit dessert(forgot what it was called). Everything was très bien!

This place doubles as a school in one half of their leased space and as a retail shop in the other half. This place also doubles as part patisserie and part chocolate shop. Everything is made to perfection and could compete with the best of them in France. Or anywhere else. To be honest, I have no idea how the pastries or chocolates taste as we only tried the macarons, but… if how they look is ANY indication, then I am quite certain they are spectacularly outstanding. The pastries are so beautiful that I’m not even sure I could bite into one if I bought one. I’d be so distraught to destroy such beauty. However, I did buy macarons, and along with my husband, we devoured them. They were top notch. Fabulous representation of flavors and perfect texture. I’d expect nothing less from a place of this caliber. Tucked in the middle of the OC Mix, kind of an oddity to be here with so many stores for the home… but then again, the OC Mix is an eclectic gathering of pretty much everything under the sun, so why not a patisserie/chocolate shop? There are a number of eateries, actually, and this isn’t the only sweet shop. We noticed that Susie Cakes is next door, come to think of it. However, ST Patisserie is a stand-out for what they offer. Give them a try. You won’t be sorry.

The shop has a kitchen next door, and I believe they do lessons there. The patisserie itself is pretty small, but the pastry case had so many beautiful treats. Not cheap, but their presentation and quality is top notch. I ended up getting some macarons for $ 2 each, no tax. The cassis one was great. I love the flavor of cassis, something I rarely find in the U.S.

Highly recommended by a local. These delicious pastries are all created by master chef Stephane. The creativity and finesse in which these pastries were made is incredible. We got canele, croissant, macarons, eclaire, exotic, and chocolates. Our favorites were the canele and exotic. The canele has a sugary crust and the inside is soft and fluffy. The exotic had a jelly like taste and interesting texture with coconut crunch. Everything was delicious! I love the atmosphere of the store and surrounding mall and how you can see into the pastry school and see the students at work. I would definitely make an effort to attend the school if I lived here. The sugar sculptures are unbelievable pieces of art.

Cute little shop that has ~5 flavors of chocolates, ~10 flavors of macarons, some croissants, and some other pastries. I got 4 macarons($ 2 each) — pistachio, salted butter caramel, green tea, and vanilla. The prices are pretty steep. The macarons are quite chunky. My favorite was the pistachio, perfect texture and flavor. My least favorite was the vanilla; the shell broke into pieces and was crunchy. The salted butter caramel was more salty than I like, and the green tea was a bit on the creamy side. Overall, I expect more consistency for the price I paid. The shop and macarons have much more potential and I hope it gets better.

A world class Patisserie is now in our backyard. ST Pâtisserie Chocolat is the new pastry & confection shop of Masterchef Stéphane Tréand that employs traditional and modern techniques with palate destroying results. I recently showed up to a party with 2 boxes of ST Macarons in tow and was ravaged by sweet toothed women at the door. It was horrifying. I was able to try a Coffee Mac and must admit, these are on par with the venerable DTLA powerhouse Bottega Louie. Yes, I said it. From tarts to chocolate sculptures, ST Patisserie has your Parisian sweets covered and can be found at The OC MIx.

Cute Chocolate and Pastry shop near Greenleaf Chop house. After eating a healthy salad, we wandered into this mouth watering delectable establishment. A lady must balance out a healthy diet by eating a salad then stuffing ones face with tarts and macarons haha. We ordered several pastries and macarons to share. All so decadent and the presentation of the tarts were so beautifully hand crafted. Macarons run $ 2 pp and the tarts run around $ 4.50-$ 8 You can even sneak a peek and watch the pastry chefs create this magnificent wonders or even sign ip for a cooking class. Great place for the sweet tooth. Enjoyed every bite.

If you are looking for pastry that doesn’t suck this is the only place to go. From apple tarts to macaroons to chocolate bars of the highest quality, you can’t go wrong here. Consider leaving your credit card at home because everything here is so addicting you will surely bankrupt yourself. I did so twice already.

«I tawt I taw a puddy tat!» Or shall I say another bakery with some noteworthy MACARONS!!! After dining at Pueblo, we strolled around OC Mart’s courtyard and stumbled across this fancy schmancy bakery led by Chef Stephane Treand(located near SusieCakes). The presentation of the pastries were on par with Bottega Louie in LA and I couldn’t resist buying a few macarons to test the waters. MACARONS are $ 2 a piece. –packaged in brown box; nothing too eye catching. Maybe you can request a bow/ribbon on it to enhance the presentation. –macaron shell had a slight chewiness to it; not crisp/hard and didnt’ crumble all over. We actually«milked» them for a week and took a little bite each day. Flavors and texture of the shell stayed intact and didn’t harden. SCORE! –fillings flavors were mild, but you can taste the natural ingredients; no artificial. Especially in the strawberry macaron. PASSIONFRUIT: mild flavors; not as tangy as I hoped STRAWBERRY: fresh strawberry flavors popped out PISTACHIO: least favorite; kinda blah surprisingly. SALTEDCARAMEL: BEST salted caramel I’ve had. I enjoyed the aromatic caramel taste. Not too sweet compared to most places. COFFEE: decent, but nothing too exciting. Overall, the macarons were pretty good, but not quite Bottega Louie good. I have high hopes they can improve those babies a little more and we can have our very own top rated macarons in the OC. Will come back to try the other flavors and a few of their pastries. BTW: if you don’t want to buy anything… just stop by for a sample; take a look at the pastry chefs baking/designing these masterpieces OR simply just to take a whiff of buttery goodness going onside.

I didn’t realize until after I had left this new addition to The Mix just opened a week or so ago. Minimalist displays with works of art disguised as desserts(or the other way around?), and I was drawn to the beautiful fresh strawberry tart. Funny that I, generally not much of a dessert fan, is the 2nd one to review this soon to be very popular shop. But after dinner at The Arc a few steps away, where we were reminded they don’t make desserts(?), we were primed to stumble in. A mighty fine, and not too sweet tart was my prize. As tasty as it looked, and that is saying a lot. Not only a high-end dessert purveyor, but also a pastry school too. Per their website they recently relocated the school from San Clemente, so maybe many of you wise Unilocalers are aware of this M.O.F.,(Meilleur Ouvrier de France) Stephane Treand already. He was busy creating behind the glassed in kitchen while we were there, and a very dashing gent he is. And of course he is an authentic Frenchman. He holds not only pastry making classes, but also dessert classes as well. Sign up, and write a review so I can find out if the MOF’er knows his craft. I am almost certain he does, as per their website the man has some impressive credentials from the pastry world. And this savory over sweets guy is surely to stumble on in for future treats, especially as long as The Arc can’t figure out how to make desserts to their standards. Hey, perfect! Send their chefs here for some obviously needed schooling.
