Jen at salon rouge does amazing color. I often will come in with a desire for change, and no ideas and she’ll whip up something new for me that I love. She’s very busy, and often multi-​tasks several clients at once, so I have learned to see my haircuts as opportunities to relax. I usually get a glass of wine (or two!) and catch up on emails or have a little snooze under the dryer. Jen is really easy to book with (I just send her a text) and she’s good about getting me in within a few weeks. No need to book appointments months in advance. She really works for me and my busy schedule!

I was very nervous about getting my hair done by anyone because I didn’t want to spend money on something I didn’t like. Before I came here I looked as some of their previous clients, liked their results and gave it a shot! Everyone is so nice and welcoming. I got the bayalage look done by Jennifer Smith, I was very satisfied at first, my hair was not as light as I thought it would be so i might have to get it done again, however that could have been partly my fault for not making it clear enough.
The only thing I would think twice about was getting a trim they charged me 65 $ for a trim which I thought was a little too over priced.

Absolutely love Jen Smith (owner) for both my cut and color! She creates such a natural look with a fabulous blend of highlights and low lights and is very kind hearted as well. I look forward to chatting and catching up at each appointment. If she happens to be running behind at all (not often) she will give a quick call or send a text giving me a heads up which I very much appreciate. I’ve been a very happy customer of Jen’s for nearly 6 years and would HIGHLY recommend her.

How lucky am I, and will you be too, if you visit Jen at Salon Rouge! She really knows her stuff! I came in with a copper haired mess and she hooked me up! Because she had to do a full color correction I had a pretty heavy tab but It was totally worth it because my hair was and still is totally healthy even without a cut! The products she used were high quality and left my hair smooth. Initially I was very nervous because I have dark hair, wanted to go blonde and had already been super processed but I can say that Jen, like she said, knew what she was doing! My blonde looks great and I think she was very fair with her pricing considering what my previous color was. I get compliments almost every day! I highly recommend Jen and can’t wait to see her again! PS I love her assistants, very professional and courteous!

Could not get into my normal barber for a haircut so I walked into this salon. Glad I did!!! Best haircut I have had in ages. My stylist, Jeniffer nailed it. Found my new favorite spot. Be back in 3 weeks. Chad P

I believe I made my 3^rd visit to Jen and I always leave happy. She’s done my extensions, hair cut and color before. Yesterday she was able to squeeze me in the day of and I ended up with very beautiful violet ombré hair and a hair cut I much needed.

From the moment Jennifer Smith met me — she knew exactly what needed to be done with my hair! She did such an amazing job! She’s professional, has a great eye, is honest and takes pride in her work. Amazing.

The stylists here are the absolute best. My hair stylist’s name is Jessica Shannon and she always does a great job with my hair. She is very honest and informative with me when I have ideas for color that just aren’t realistic (and has probably saved me from ruining my hair on many occasions). I always walk out of this salon feeling great and in love with my hair. I had gone from dark brown to all over platinum blonde when I first met Jessica and she was able to nurse my hair back to health and give me a color now that I love and is low maintenance.
Also, everyone here is so nice and it’s such a comfortable environment, not to mention the prices are very reasonable. The owner is great too and takes calls from clients personally.
Can’t say enough good things. My favorite salon ever.

Pure vision. Jen’s the bomb. She’s been chopping my mop for years; and trust me it’s no easy feat. We all want that little pep of confidence to our step when we leave the chair. You’ll never walk out of Salon Rouge disappointed. .unless you turn down a glass of wine, water, beer or champagne she offers you. Enjoy!

I moved to orange county two years ago and it took me a year until I finally found my awesome stylist, Jen Smith! Not only is she stunning and amazing at what she does, but she’s extremely confident and knows and understands exactly what you want. She somehow makes my color last way longer than it ever has and my cut is always on point and looks fresh even after weeks. She’s super flexible with her schedule and her team is so friendly and warm. I highly recommend!

I still make the trip from Long Beach to Costa Mesa to get my hair done because it is well worth the trip.

Haircuts. Women have it complicated — their look always matters, it takes planning, it takes time. I’m not a chauvinist, just a realist. A woman who is beautiful can start and end conflicts, wars. Beautiful matters. And men, on the other hand, have it fairly easy. You want minimalist power with attitude = completely, smoothly bald. You want care free, loose, suave if not with a touch of feminity = you go long with the locks. You want fast, focused, raw, take no shit, give no care but the mission = you go with that #2 clipper straight through. You want in between conservative, business like, throw it around to be a little messy. a little wild (but not too much) = a short haircut. I always let the stylist do their thing. And today I am good. I am more than satisfied. I’m damn well proud. Now i can throw it from left to right and be that little bad boy.;)
And fellow gentlemen did i mention they serve adult beverages (me just a glass of a smooth red) and attractive stylists. That’s 2 out of 3 in my book, and i could go without watching some game on a wall mounted flat screen. This is a time to relax, let it sink in, and yes a little pampered, in the delightful conversation that women have. So go gentlemen and get thy hair cuts at this place.

5 stars for the results. Jenn is awesome at what she does. If you’re a brunette like me, and you want to get a balayage done w/​haircut, expect to pay more than you’re typical highlights. You will also be there for a very long time (at LEAST 3 hours she said).
If you’re blonde you’ll be out an hour, dudes were out of there in 20 minutes. I’m not complaining about the service I just wish I came more prepared knowing I’m spending over 200 and had something healthy to eat before I sat there for 6 hours. Overall, I’m just concerned with the hair results and the cut/​color was flawless. Thank you Jenn for making sure it was perfect!

Need color? Thao is amazing! She is seriously a hair goddess! My first experience with her was sometime last year (maybe even before that). After growing out my hair and finally having all virgin hair — I got bored. Really really fast. So, I decided to make a subtle change and go a little lighter. I absolutely loved it! She gave me a medium brown ombré, it was low maintenance — which I love and needed.
**Fast forward to a couple weeks ago**
After not doing anything with my hair for a year or so, I wanted a drastic change. I wanted an ash blonde ombré — of course still low maintenance on the top. I loved it! However, my toner washed out within a week and I sent her pictures and I went back as soon as I could so she could correct it. After toning it again, it was even lighter which I LOVED even more!
Thao is super sweet, easy-​going and definitely cares and listens to your needs. If you need to get some coloring done, I would definitely recommend her!

Looking for a nice balayage mixed with some ombré? Thao will do a good job for you.
My friend in SF got her hair done by Tee and I wanted to book with Tee but she was packed and I asked her for a recommendation in Socal, she said Thao in OC at Salon Rouge. Of course I scoped out her Unilocal reviews and was able to text her and get a response and set up an appointment. My friend wanted to tag along and get her hair done too. We were trying to set her up with someone and she got Jen (the owner). I just showed Thao a picture of what my friend’s looked like and I had complete confidence in Thao.
She did a wonderful job! I love my hair and everybody loved it as well. I gotten so many compliments, especially when it’s curled. It looks so naturally and flowy. Thao also charges a very good price, she doesn’t over charge like a lot of stylist who does ombré/​balayage. And that’s what I appreciate, she does a great job with a good value. I would recommend her to everyone and anyone that I know. I drove all the way from SD to see her and I’ll do it over and over again! She’s the best! I also had a great conversation with her assistant. I forgot her name but she was really cool. She blew dry my hair and we were talking about relationships. She was really cool. Everyone here is cool.

I can’t rave enough about how amazing Thao is!
My first trip (End of Oct.) here was disappointing (didn’t get to go really light like I had wanted) BUT I still left super happy with my hair. So the story goes like this ~ I came in expecting to get my roots done, hair blonde, and toned. But due to my hair being a hot mess and damaged Thao wouldn’t allow me to dye my hair lighter unless A) I cut a good couple inches that day or B) Start repairing my hair at home with hair masks and no heat for the next 1 – 2 months. I opted for the latter haha. So for the time being she fixed my roots and toned out my hair turning it into a really ashy grey which I still loved !
** Fast forward a few months **
Came in today and I thankfully took such good care of my hair the last couple months I was able to go full blonde like I wanted ! Thao is seriously a miracle worker, she gets rid of the brassiness but she also blends in your roots well with the rest of your hair so even though I’m blonde it looks natural. This time she also recommended that I go lighter the Olaplex way (which I also recommend) it does take longer for it to process your hair and become lighter but it’s also way less damaging and it also comes with a bottle of take home treatment ! Plus it’s only an extra $ 25, SO WORTH. This whole process took me a long 4 hours but I was beyond ecstatic of the results.
I really appreciate how Thao always gives you multiple options and how she doesn’t just do whatever she is told when they want their hair done a certain way (in a good way). She always figures out a way for you to get what you want the healthier way so you don’t damage your hair further or as much. Even if it’ll take you to come back 2 or 3 more times. A trip here can range anywhere from $ 80−200+ depending on what you get done but trust me when I say every single penny is worth it. You won’t regret it!
