Went here and asked for a simple fade on the sides and a trim on top as my hair has grown to quite some length. Somehow they sent me away with a bowl cut! Do not go there if you want a quality cut.

Was out having lunch and decided I needed a cut. Saw this shop and decided to give it a try. Saw some of the negative reviews but decided to try anyway. Disappointed, all I wanted was it slicked back with short fade on the sides and what I got was choppy and uneven. Won’t be going back and will have to fix it myself at home. Waste of $ 20 :(

I went in today for a quick haircut. I’m almost a barber’s dream. I get a half fade, high and tight, leave the top long. Basically, pull out your clippers and cut around what’s already there. She did ok. Not very high Not very tight. She seemed like she was ready to call it a day (to be fair, I got there at 445 and she closes at 5) It looks ok. Not worth $ 16 though.

I have been going her for a while now. Several times Monica refused to cut my hair and passed me of to her revolving assistant. No biggie.
I’ve finally given up. Monica is one strange bird. Recently I saw the open sign on the door and the place was empty. GREAT I thought. Went in, said «hi» to Monica who was sitting in the back eating with another woman. Took off my jacket and sat in her chair. She looked up and said «10 — 15 min.»
Not sure WHERE she was coming from other than a while back and after several years my partner & I showed up at the same time. Maybe she is a staunch homofobe don’t know. Will NEVER go there again. I can be abused elsewhere without paying for it.
Stay away from this place.

My poor husband. He got his hair cut here over the weekend and she BUTCHERED it. I’m not really sure HOW someone can mess up so badly, but they managed. His hair is multiple different lengths… the top looks atrocious. How hard is it to cut the top the same length??? I told him he really should go back and let them know or have them fix it, but he doesn’t want to return to a place that has given him such a bad cut. I DO NOT recommend this place. For what it’s worth, he said it was an older Asian lady who cut his hair. Avoid!

This place is great. $ 13 for a quality cut is always a good thing. I am a bit picky when it comes to hair cuts and this place has not let me down. Monica is the korean owner and she is awesome. I have shaggier hair and she keeps it looking good, but I think most of her clientele has shorter hair cuts (she’s a surgeon with the clippers). This place is no frills and all business. Don’t expect to be offered a beer and unfortunately there are no leather-​clad dudes with tats cutting hair, unlike most of Newport. This place is next to a laundromat and right near Hi-​Times. Give it a shot.
