I hate to give a low rating to a small business but I wasn’t impressed :( My apartment was flyered their ads and I was intrigued by the«Buy 2, get 1 free» promo. My boyfriend and I realized we lived right next to this place and decided to just drop by and pick up some quick dinner instead of having it delivered(which is $ 30 minimum). We ordered inside and there was a nice lady who assisted us. She was super sweet and we had a good experience ordering our food. Unfortunately, what came afterwards fell short. We ordered 4 rolls and they took FOREVER to come out. The restaurant was completely empty yet we waited a good 20 minutes. When we got our food, it was just ugh. I got a tempura spicy tuna roll and the whole roll was cold. It tasted old, like it had been fried and was sitting there for a good hour before it was served to us. Each bite made me feel more and more disgusted before I gave the rest to my bf. We also shared a salmon skin roll($ 7) and they put artificial crab meat inside the roll. Worst, the crab meat was freezing cold, like straight-out-of-the-fridge cold. It was such a bad pairing with the fried salmon skin and I hated it. My bf got another roll and we shared another one but honestly, I can’t even remember what it was because it just wasn’t memorable. We split the tab and it was approximately $ 15 each person, which really wasn’t worth the cold sushi(that was supposed to be hot) and the ridiculously long wait. Basically, the service is great and I’m sure delivery is a plus if you don’t want to leave the house, but don’t expect much. Would have loved to make this a frequent sushi spot. Very disappointed.

Reasonable price, decent food, quick delivery. It was exactly what we wanted for dinner. I wouldn’t order the unagi bowl again, but the rolls were excellent.

So delicious, and fairly inexpensive given its quality! The staff is also very nice. I highly recommend the salmon tempura rolls! So on point.

I love the service I got here they are very welcoming and friendly and have a great selection of food, I enjoyed my mango avocado chicken salad w/miso soup and the lady refilled my drink without being asked. You can tell they care for their customers here.

My go to sushi restaurant while on lunch from work! Great prices, good sizes(don’t need to overstuff myself), and they have buy 2 get one free(take one to go each time) all the time. Super friendly service!

My favorite little sushi place! I always order to-go and either pick it up or have it delivered. I’ve never been disappointed! They give you a ton of food and it is delicious. You can’t beat 3 rolls for the price of 2! I love the Baked Salmon roll and the Korean tacos. I don’t know that I would come here if I wanted the restaurant experience, but if you want sushi delivered to your door, this is definitely the place to go.

Within 30 minutes of putting up my review a manager called me to rectify a pricing situation. He was super polite and very caring. So glad to not have to lose my corner sushi restaraunt!

I Order from here all the time. Buy 2 rolls get one free. For $ 20.00 I get 3 good rolls of sushi! Easy and healthier then fast food when I don’t feel like cooking. Plus, family owned business! Love them! Been there a bunch of times and never had a bad meal!

This had to be the most nicely plated take-out I have ever had! Everything was fresh and tasty, especially the sashimi plate which had 3 – 4 slices of seared tuna, raw tuna, salmon, mackerel, and some kind of crunchy shredded radish«noodles» under it. The mackerel was layered with very thin lemon slices. The Avocado Mango salad was a little heavy on the iceberg lettuce, which I feel is a cop out when you think about all the other great greens there are out there, but nobody goes to sushi for the salads, I get that. It was that generic«bagged salad mix» with the little confetti of purple cabbage and carrot slices that had about a half a mango, a half an Avo, and the kind of unripe tomatoes you’d expect this time of year, sliced and fanned out over the top and garnished with horseradish sprouts. The creamy sesame dressing was the best part. If I eat here again, I will forgo the salad and get one of the yummy looking rolls instead.(I am a visitor to Costa Mesa is why I say«if») The edamame and miso were good, but it’s kind of hard to mess those up. Actually, that’s not true, edamame can be over or undercooked and of the two, slightly under is better than mushy and the former was how these tended. Over all, I rate Maki Yaki as passable, with bonus points for presentation and delivering it to my hotel room for me.

I have to say that this place is just awesome. They are always always super sweet to me. I still have never gone in there, but Ive ordered a bunch of times. The lady who picks up the phone is so nice and the guy that delivers is cool. They have the best customer service. Whenever I’m hungry, i always check out their menu first to see if Im craving their food, just because they’re always so good to me. I love them! Oh and i’ve tried their sushi, and it is good. Their pork is the best though!

Well we didn’t get any sushi here… But, we did get a lot of other stuff: VEGETABLETEMPURAROLL — was good but really only had fried vegetables in it, no other greens. Good but not great. But since it was less than $ 6, decent. UDONCOMBOPLATE — Ridiculous amount of food — including a huge bowl of undo noodles with meat, vegetable and shrimp tempura on the side with 4 pc roll on the side as well. Waaaaay too much food for one person. The tempura and rolls alone could have been a whole plate and would have been worth about the same price. Bonus that it came with udon. It was about $ 8 — $ 9. VEGETABLEEGGROLLS — not on the menu, but if you ask they will make them. These probably changed my whole opinion of this place… they reminded me of something you would eat at Panda Express or something like that — mushy on the inside and ingredients were nearly unidentifiable. Service was decent, but not really friendly. However, we didn’t have to ask for our water glasses to be refilled which is a nice plus. Not a lot of space for people to eat — Maybe maybe maybe 7 tables total inside. If you get here after noon, expect to have to take your food to go. If a big party gets there before you, there probably won’t be room for you to sit anywhere! Overall: Don’t get the eggrolls. Anything else you should be good with :)

So upon entrance, I was disappointed in the fact that this place had no A/C or fan, and I didn’t get water until awhile later. I was dying. The place was stuffy and I was actually pretty hungover from going drinking the night before. I’m not sure if there was only 1 or 2 persons working, but dude, this place is kind of slow. Anyway, when the water finally came out, that’s when things started coming out faster, along with the service. As for the food, they got specials(listed on the wall) as well as on the menu where you buy 2 rolls and get 1 free. My friend got the noodle salad, and we all shared the garlic edamame(this was delicious!), Jessica roll(bomb!), calamari roll(it was good although I am not a huge fan of calamari), and the green dragon roll(a some name similar to it that contained avocado, eel, crab, etc… this one was pretty plain; I’d avoid this next time. The sriracha helped with the flavor though). As we waited, the lady who appeared to be the owner, served us their new appetizer… tacos! On the house too! This was pretty good. It was an Asian version of a taco lol. Oh yea, we got the egg rolls too; they tasted like they should. Love egg rolls. Overall, the only thing I hated about this place was the temperature control. There was none! Other than that, everything was good to great(esp. the free tacos lol). I like the deals they had here too. When I come here next time, I’ll get the deal that was on the wall. It was a combo plate. Until next time…

This is my favorite sushi place and I happen to live down the street. I just discovered this place a couple weeks ago and it is now mandatory for me to go here at least once a week. Their rolls are the best I have had in a long time and the price is perfect. Very authentic and very friendly staff. I have yet to try all their food, but that is on my to do list.

A-MA-ZING! Someone came by my work office today with a flyer for Maki Yaki and I was excited that they had Poke Tuna Salad. I went by and picked up food for lunch. I could not be more surprised and delighted by the food here. So fresh and flavors blended perfectly(see my photo). I also tried the new Korean Beef Taco and was amazed again. It is a little pricey for lunch but sooooooo worth the money. I will be back over and over again.

I started coming here because it was walking distance from home. Now I come back often because I have been treated very well by the staff. I am new to the sushi scene but haven’t found a place that is more friendly. Good people deserve good reviews! Jon Taffer would approve.

Maki Yaki is great. Service is nice, food is good and they gave us complementary miso soup. I had the pot stickers egg rolls and crunch rolls all super yummy. Will recommend and definitely return. The only thing that I didn’t like is during lunch time parking sucks.

I saw that somebody wrote a pretty nasty review on this place. I can tell you 100% this is not true, that guy is just… idk weird. Everybody who works here is so nice and friendly, you will feel like you are family here(no lie) I’ve been coming here since I was in high school and I love it I’ve tried so many things on here and can tell you that they are all great. The sushi chef is pro status straight up! The nice lady in front is super great also, she makes the best food. My personal favorites would have to be spicy chicken, and the rainbow roll, never once has my food tasted weird and the fish was always fresh and tasty.

Kalbi BBQ Short Ribs:4/5 Spicy Pork: 4⁄5 Chicken Cutlet: 4⁄5 One of my co worker found this place and brought a menu back so we tried it out for lunch. When I went to pick up the order, they were still making it which means that they make it fresh and that the food was not pre-cooked. Everything was good but the price was a little high for lunch. Will probably come back.
