Located inside mitsuwa to the right of santoka. Beef tongue is a slightly thicker piece. I loveeee it with the chili powder and lemon wedge. Wait will be at least 15 minutes.

Love their BBQ beef tongue! I’d only know about bbq beef tongues when I went to Japan for vacation. And i was so glad when I saw that there is a store that sells bbq beef tongue in Mitsuwa. I ordered their set A which had 8 pcs of delicious beef tongue. It came with soup and rice. It was decently priced. The taste and texture were good. Will definitely come back again for some more. NOTE: CASHONLY

Beef tongue, not a common ingredient to see on the dinner table. Most of them are prepared into thin slice before grilling and cooked with Korean BBQ. Unlike the Koreans, Japanese cut the beef tongue thicker and it’s juicier after grilling. Lucky me actually enjoying the texture and the flavor so you would only imagine how excited I was when I learned about this place. For being part of the food court inside Mitsuwa Market, the parking in the area really sucks. I have been to that plaza enough and always found it easier to park underground, even though it looks scary down there. To order food was easy. All we had to do was to pick a number and that was it. The only thing I couldn’t understand was the«eat in only» vs «to go ok». The price did not reflect to the food accordingly and it just felt like some random number on the board. On top of enjoying the tongues. watching them to cook was by far the most interesting thing to do in the food court. The smell of tongues slowly getting seared while sizzling on the grill was priceless and it made the wait for my meal more rewarding. This time, I got 1B and it was good as always. The soup that came with was surprisingly good also. Now they just need to accept credit cards other than cash only, the world would be a better place.

Love love the BBQ beef tongue! This small food vendor is located inside the super market in the food court area. We came here for lunch one day because I was craving some Japanese food. Ordered the 8 piece combo with rice and some pickled vegetables. The BBQ beef tongue were so tasty, a bit chewy but that’s to be expected. The seasoning was subtle and not too over powering. Food came out pretty quick. Easy lunch spot! Parking for the super market is difficult though.

My buddy bought me lunch here recently. I’m not a huge fan of beef tongue so didn’t know what to expect. Ordered the Volcano Bowl set which came with 4 pieces of beef tongue, ground beef tongue over rice and tongue soup. I started with tongue pieces. It slightly overcooked at it was a bit chewy. Nice, rich flavor with heat from the wasabi and pickled veggies. The ground beef tongue over rice was delicious! It was tender and complimented the rice perfectly. The tongue soup was unremarkable. Overall a unique meal that I enjoyed.

I come here way too often and get gyutan set #3. It comes with 4 pieces of charcoal grilled beef tongue, beef tongue curry with cream, a clear beef broth soup with lots of green onions, ground up mountain yam, a salad and rice. It sounds like a lot but it really isnt! The charcoal grilled tongue combined with the miso paste and dipped in the mountain yam is so good! A bit pricey, but worth it.

So good! Located inside Mitsuwa Market on the right side of the food court. There’s plenty of seating in the food court, but grab a table before you get food just to make sure. I got the Set A and a mini volcano! The Set A includes either 8 or 12 pieces of beef tongue, a bowl of rice, and a bowl of soup. The beef tongue was absolutely delicious! It was grilled perfectly and the pieces were a good size and thickness. I loved dipping it in the wasabi to get some extra flavor in there. The soup was a basic soup with a lot of green onions and then a couple pieces of beef, I don’t believe it’s tongue though, but it was very tender. If you don’t want the soup, I would recommend getting the Bento Box, it’s about $ 2 cheaper. The rice was cooked fine, and I put the mini volcano on top! The mini volcano is ground beef tongue with spices, and I really enjoyed it. It’s $ 2 for the mini! The price is a little steep in my opinon, but beef tongue is a delicacy and you can’t really get it casually like this. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area!

The grilled beef tongue is to die for! It comes out very tender and it’s got a great smokey grilled beef flavor that is just fantastic. The only complaint I have that it’s NOTENOUGH. In my dreams I see a plate piled high with the gyutan, where I can barely finish after an hour of eating, but alas, the reality is that $ 13 will get you a nice combo set that will allow a little sampling. The little sides are cute enough, and tasty. The bowl of soup is fairly bland but balances well with the spicy ginger scallion side sauce. One word to describe this place: MOAR!

CASHONLY! And it’s inside Mitsuwa supermarket. I don’t come here often, but my friend raves about it all the time when I lived in SF. Now that I’m back, I get to try their infamous grilled beef tongue! And I love beef tongue. I got the Volcano bowl combo, which comes with 4 pieces of tongue and this spicy ground tongue over rice, and a green onion soup. Oh man, the grilled tongue was sooooooo tender and flavorful. It just melts on your tongue! The ground tongue was good also, but not as great as the bigger pieces. The atmosphere is a food court, so you have several options to choose from. We ordered some milk tea as dessert. It was pretty quiet because we got their before dinner, then came the people rushing in for some food and groceries.

I had the Tsukasa Set, which had beef tongue soup, salad, grilled beef tongue, stewed beef tongue, mountain yam, and rice. This set is for people who can’t decide what to eat, and just want to try a little bit of everything. I enjoyed everything, and the favorite is the grilled beef tongue. It was very tender and meaty, perfect with just a dab of wasabi and marinated onion. I was very full, happy and content after cleaning every items on the tray!

Cash Only! Gyutan Tsukasa USA is located inside Mitsuwa market’s food court, specifically next door to the entrance of the restroom(don’t let that gross you out, it’s not close enough where it would affect the food or that you would smell an odor from the restrooms). My husband and I came by here last Sunday night a little before 6 pm. We got the following: Volcano Combo, $ 10.28 prior to tax– This combo comes with 4 pieces of grilled beef tongue and ground beef tongue, on top of a bed of rice and iceberg lettuce. There is also a bowl of soup served with this combo as well. Honestly, this is quite a lot of food for 1 person. I only tried a little of my husband’s beef tongue. I thought the ground beef tongue was tasty and moist. It was an easy bite to eat and I liked the sauce that was used in this dish. The grilled beef tongue was good as well, had a little bit of a chew to it but overall an interesting flavor. Side Salad, $ 2 prior to tax– Being the health nut, I opted for this salad. I wasn’t expecting much for a side salad. This salad was made with the cheap iceberg lettuce and had a few slices of cucumber and 2 grape tomatoes. Nothing fancy about this salad, I just wanted some added fiber in my dinner. — — — — — — — — — – (Total= $ 13.27 after tax… CASHONLY) Service was pretty quick and wait time for the food to be made wasn’t long. I like that they had a water dispenser at the register so you can help yourself to unlimited refills. There are plenty of tables and chairs in the food court(be sure to clean off the tables yourself). No WiFi available. The women’s restroom was clean upon visit in case you are wondering.

I loveeeeee this spot! Even with anjin right down the street. The beef tongue here is as good as the beef tongue at anjin. That is if you take into consideration the price, convenience, and also taste. This is my go-to spot at mitswsa market now. The beef tongue comes with wasabi, marinated green onions, and some little green veggies. Take a beef tongue and put a little of each on top for the perfect bite. It also comes with beef short rib green onion soup which is super light and yums. Especially compare to santouka ramen broth which is a lot heavier. The rice is mixed with little pieces of whole grain and is super soft and delicious. Take a bite of the beef tongue, followed by a bite of the steamy whole grain rice, and finish it with a spoonful of the light delicious soup for the perfect taste in your mouth!

BEEFTONGUE, sliced thick and WAY tastier than the beef tongue you get at korean bbq! there’s red pepper at the register that you can add to your food but i didn’t think it tasted like anything —set 1A with 8 pieces: the beef tongue was really good! perfectly cooked but if you’re hungry definitely go for the set with more pieces. the set comes with a bowl of rice, some pickled veggies and a bowl of broth with beef in it NOTE: Cash only like all the other stalls in the Mitsuwa foodcourt

Tender, flavorful, no after taste. Rice is fluffy and hot. Soup as impossibly salty and had a strange chunk of really gamey meat inside. I’m sure it’s good but not to my liking. Preparation is fresh and fast. Price is a bit high but it’s acceptable for what you get and the quality of the meat. I enjoy beef tongue and it’s hard to find good beef tongue, so to find it here was a happy discovery and when I’m in the mood, I’ll tolerate the insane parking and the crowded food court seating to get me some juicy tongue action.

I blame Gyutan and lengua tacos for making me love the part of an animal that some people would refuse to eat. Whenever Ken and I are lazy and cannot decide what we want to eat, Mituswa is always our fall back and go to choice. I’m at the Mitsuwa market a lot because I work down the street and live 3 miles away and Gyutan is my absolute favorite out of all the food options there. Santouka is a close second. The tongue is grilled on a charcoal grill and it comes out perfect every time I have gotten it. I have tried the bento set, which comes with the grilled tongue, rice, pickled veggies and a miso veggie type paste. I have also gotten the Gyutan porridge and the volcano bowl and both of which were mighty tasty. I could easily eat here all the time and never get sick of it. The beef tongue has a great flavor and it is incredibly tender and not super chewy or fatty. I love the sides that come with it, but then again I am a fan of pickled sides, although I hate pickles, which I always found odd. It is cash only and they do to go, but only on certain order items. I really recommend Gyutan. The prices are great and the food is even better. Only downside is that it can get pretty hard to find parking when it gets super busy and sometimes it is difficult to get a table.

Another great restaurant located in the Mitsuwa Market. They advertise Gyutan(tongue over charcoal grill) as the perfect complement to beer. They aren’t kidding. And it just so happens that their is a beer location here directly across the market. Though honestly, If I wanted gyutan + beer i’d probably go to a yakitori spot. Overall its a great place, with great flavors. A little on the expensive side, with their basic combo of Rice + Sides + Soup + 8 Pieces for around $ 12. It’s roughly the same amount you’d get at a yakitori spot for that same price. All in all in terms of flavor, this place has got it down. Not sure this would be my first choice inside Mitsuwa, but as a standalone, I can’t deny this place 4 stars.

Sometimes when I’m craving something meaty, and I’m all alone, I come to Gyutan to order their beef tongue to eat by myself :3 … But honestly, their beef tongue is the best. You wouldn’t expect much because it’s in a grocery store food court, but Mitsuwa food court has some of the best japanese dishes all in one area. I usually opt for the bento box set since I normally don’t eat that big of portions anyways. Their meat is flavorful, tender, and so much amazingness in small little cut pieces. It honestly does not look like a lot of meat when you get it… however! After each bite, it just leaves you with a feeling of content and happiness. I personally like adding a little bit of heat to the dish, so I add a small dab of wasabi on each piece of meat; they give you a small serving of wasabi. Their rice is really good too! It’s just standard rice with small beans inside. I could eat this dish all the time. It’s a great place to go to if you’re looking for a quick delicious meal.

If you’re getting the grilled tongue here, YOUHAVETOGETITMEDIUM-RARE, YOUMUST!!! Otherwise, it may be too dry, tough, and overcooked for most of you. The problem is, they don’t ask you how you would like to have it cooked. So most first timers will get it medium, which is the default. I enjoyed it way more during my subsequent visits when I requested medium-rare. I loved how much softer and more tender the tongue pieces were. I would avoid the spicy miso tongue. That one is cooked to medium and they won’t do it medium-rare. It was hella tough, chewy, and dry from being overcooked. I like to order the regular tongue and get the spicy miso dip on the side for a $ 1, which really isn’t spicy at all. The curry comes with very tender soft chunks of tongue and the portion is huge. The set that comes with the volcano and 4 pieces of grilled tongue is not a bad deal either. The regular sets aren’t as good of a deal imo, but that’s what most first timers order. The soup that comes out with the sets are good if you dump your rice in there. If you’re into beef tongue, you should definitely check this place out.
