Great authentic Italian meals. The meals are a little pricey, but you get big portions. Staff have been very friendly, I have had DJ serve my table several times, very nice guy! The ambiance of the restaurant is very authentic and romantic. They also have tvs throughout the restaurant playing sports games.

Came here today 2÷18÷16 at exactly 9:20 when one of the employees told me they stopped serving food. I have NEVER been turned away before and not only is this an inconvenience for me as I obviously don’t get my food but also that I drive 30 miles just for this place. I’ve came before 10 minutes before they close and ordered food with no problem. I’m not sure why the kitchen«closed early» but that is complete bullshit. I will no longer be coming to this establishment.

This is mine and my boyfriend’s go to italian spot! Cucina Roma never disappoints in food and service. The starter bread is always hot and fresh and amazingly delish. We came in last Friday around 7PM and no wait, bonus! I got the fetuccini with a meatball and sausage in the traditional red sauce with a side of ricotta(get the side of ricotta, well worth the extra charge). It was great and the portions are huge. I was able to enjoy it for dinner as well as lunch the next day. It is really just a great gem in Newport.

This place is great! I came here for dinner on Valentine’s Day. It was pretty crowded but we were seated within just a few minutes. The waiter brought us free bread pretty quickly. The waiter was a very friendly person. He and other staff members came to our table to ask if we wanted refills several times. In most restaurants, I’d be lucky if the waiter came by more than once, and this time, we never had our cups empty! The food was delicious! It was at a really hot temperature and tasted fresh. It was really full of flavor(lemon garlic shrimp pasta). The interior is kind of small. It’s still quiet enough that you feel some privacy though. It’s nicely decorated. It definitely has a «ma and pa» feel to it. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for an Italian dinner at a quiet restaurant.

Come here on Tuesdays to get BOGO50% off pasta dishes! The first time we came, my husband and I split the pesto pasta special and the lasagna(both came with a salad to start). Generous portions and highly recommended! We’ve also had the pasta primavera(see photo) with marinara sauce which is amazing too. We really enjoyed our experience and I’m happy to announce that we found our new go-to Italian spot.

Very good Italian food. They also have lots of gluten free options. I like the atmosphere with the lighting. The staff is super nice and helpful, as is the owner. We go here for Italian food.

In town for work and my friend and I decided to try this place based on reviews. The atmosphere is very welcoming. We got seated right away. We ordered the calamari appetizer and absolutely loved the sauce! So good! I ordered the chicken parmigiana on penne pasta with rosa sauce… It was so dang delicious y’all! The portions are huge. Our waitress was super friendly. Definitely will be coming back!

My first time here. My best friends took me to this gem. Phenomenal food. I ordered the pasta with meatballs and chose fettuccine(spaghetti is an option as well). Plate was beautiful with the pasta covered with their wonderful house made marinara sauce. Topped with 2 huge, delicious meatballs. It was moderately busy around 6pm on this Friday night but became busy, yet still not overwhelming when we left around 730. Service was excellent. Got our drinks ordered immediately and brought to our table with fresh baked bread promptly. Ordered the calimari appetizer which is plenty or 2 — 3, maybe 4 people. We placed our dinner orders and our food was to us within 15 minutes after ordering. Our server was a beautiful girl named Cindy. Made us feel right at home and so welcome at this establishment. I hope the owner reads this as I’m always straightforward with my reviews. In this case, being straightforward was especially gratifying because Cindy is the kind of person any business owner would want working for them. Friendly, very attentive and extremely efficient. This will be our go-to place whenever I’m in Costa Mesa. I’m not even a huge fan of Italian food but this was probably my best Italian meal over. Thanks to Cindy and the rest of the staff who made our evening a wonderful experience. Cindy: We were at the 4 seater table surrounded by the booths and you walked up when my female blond friend(who ordered the grey goose martini) was making an «inappropriate» dinner joke and I said, «Aren’t you just so happy you walked up when you did?» We think you’re swell. Thank you again.

I came here as a group of four couples to eat dinner before a winter formal dance!(We’re just a bunch of high school seniors) We had a reservation here for 5:15 and we came 15 minutes late because of traffic. While we were waiting, i got to take a look at the ambiance and furniture and all and it was really great. The only complaint is that its a tad too dark. Luckily, they still sat us down pretty promptly. Really grateful for that. After we all sat down, out waitress came to us and gave us great service. She was very professional. The food that we bought was good. I had the stomach flu so I couldn’t eat a lot :(I shared a lobster alfredo with a friend. I also tried a pasta that was more lemony that was very good, maybe even better than the alfredo. On top of this, the bread we got in the beginning was really good too. The portions are large. With the side salad, it can feed two small Asians to satisfaction! Overall, it was a great place to eat. I will go back when I’m in the area!

Great food, good service. I had the seafood pasta, she had the pasta less shrimp plate. Both were great. Love the ambience. That being said, I’m taking off a star due to the annoying sound system. All we heard was the beating of the bass — couldn’t even really hear the words, just BASS. Please fix and I’ll add a star!

Love this place. Baked Zitti and the Dimitri Salad are enough for two with leftovers for lunch the next day. I’m pretty sure Wine Wednesday is the best deal in Orange County. I love no corkage.

Cucina Roma’s food is wonderfully presented in a romantically lit setting and served by very attentive and professional waiters. I’ve been here several times with my boyfriend and my girlfriends, and we always enjoy our meals. All the pasta dishes are great, but I particularly recommend the Italian wedding soup and the chicken parmigiana.

Regardless of when they actually close, pretend it’s an hour earlier because they won’t seat you after that, even if you called ahead to make sure it was ok. I’m a big Italian food fan and was excited to celebrate at this place on my birthday. We had some plans that would leave us only able to arrive here right at 9. Wanting to be considerate of the restaurant we called during the day to ask and make sure this would be ok and were told yes, we’d be seated. When we arrived the servers were packing up the patio seating and said they’d ask the manager if it’d be ok to seat us. The manager came out and said, nope, the kitchen was closed. We drove very far for nothing and weren’t offered any compensation but a door to the face. Glad to dodge this bullet.

Amazing ambiance and amazing food! Came here with my boyfriend around 9pm on a Saturday night and was seated without any wait. The waiters are charming and very attentive. I love the dim lighting and décor of the restaurant! Very romantic yet casual. We both ordered the pasta Gianni, except one was served with ground beef and one with seafood. Go for the seafood! It tastes so fresh and is so complimentary with the slightly spicy Gianni sauce. Our pastas also came with complimentary salads tossed in red wine vinaigrette. For an appetizer we ordered the calamari fritti, which was served with a hot marinara sauce and lime wedges. These were perfectly breaded and seasoned! Delicious. I highly recommend the pasta gianni and the calamari. Hope to come back and try more items off their menu. TIP: in downtown Fullerton, no private parking

I don’t leave Unilocal reviews, but this place was special. Came here for dinner at 6:30pm and the place was almost empty. Décor somehow blends a classic, down-home Italian vibe with a modern, stone-and-black-leather, hipster feel that I can’t put my finger on — it just feels right to be here. Music ranges from classic rock to Mumford and that somehow works too. Food was 8.5 out of 10. My wife loved that she could add chicken milanese to her fettuccine alfredo for only $ 4, and I had the baked sausage mozzarella(and ricotta) appetizer as dinner. It filled me right up, and the ricotta was delicious with the sausage! The calamari fritti we shared were also on point, a good size. Everything was hot and well-cooked. Service was attentive but not overwhelming — exactly what I need in a dinner date.

I really like the atmosphere of Cucina Roma. I have been eating here for a long time and I am a huge fan. The menu isn’t overwhelming and the food, prices and portions are perfect. I usually end up taking a little something home. I would say that a must try at Cucina Roma would be the calamari appetizer because it’s phenomenal. I also like the fact that most of the time the owner is there and you can say hi because he is a really friendly guy who obviously takes pride in his restaurant. The staff that work there are all equally as friendly and accommodating. I would recommend Cucina Roma to anybody who want’s a great Itallian dining experience.

Really nice yet a little noisy Italian restaurant. The décor reminded me of an 80’s pizza parlor with a lot of random stuff on the walls, mostly pictures of famous celebrities from the 50’s. My party sat at a giant booth which was very comfy and each booth had their own mini chandelier, yeah the décor was interesting. We started with calamari and it came with a nice tasty marinara sauce but the calamari really didn’t have any flavor, I kept drowning it in lemon juice just to get some flavor so I wasn’t a fan of their calamari. My pasta Gianni was a different story, you get to choose the type of pasta so I went with the fettuccine. It comes with a salad or soup for an extra $ 1 so I went with the salad. The salad was a really good size, it was simple with only lettuce, cucumbers and onion but the vinaigrette was really tasty so I was happy. I tried my boyfriends Italian wedding soup and it was also really good. But my pasta was simply delicious. The sauce had a nice spicy rich flavor and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. I couldn’t stop eating but the portions are huge its pretty much two meals in one so I decided to save some pasta to take home. My boyfriends lasagna was not that bad either and he couldn’t finish it all in one sitting either.

So sad to revise this review because I really enjoyed the first experience we had at Cucina Roma in October. Boyfriend and I decided to order a carry out chicken Alfredo pasta last night to share for dinner because we were too lazy after the holidays to prep more food.(Translation I was too lazy to prep more food, ha!) And while it was pretty yummy going down, we both woke up early in the morning feeling awfully ill, unfortunately. Something was definitely off and I can only point a finger to the commonality of what we ate for dinner. Not sure we’ll be able to stomach coming back here after this experience. Bummer.
