My son has Down Syndrome and has been taking piano lessons from Beth for about 3 years. Beth is a very patient and talented teacher. I told her that I am not sure if he will be able to memorize the notes and she said that we’ll just take it as it happens, that we have plenty of time and there’s no rush. Believe me, my son is as stubborn as they get! He has played in various recitals incl one(VSA) for people w/special needs at a local mall and he has shown more confidence in his playing. Beth started transposing one of his favorite songs to a level that he can play and it is motivating him to practice. Everytime I attend a recital, I am always amazed by what these kids are doing(she has blind, autistic, cognitively impaired, etc students). She has integrated recitals for both her typical and special needs kids. She is in the business of helping our kids develop a love for music at their own pace.

My young child takes choir from Beth, and has just started private singing/piano lessons. I especially love Beth’s focus on finding the meaning and joy in music — the young children & teens really respond to her. As the kids learn their music, Beth incorporates interesting facts that relate to the material to really bring the message home for them. On top of all that, she has a gift for communicating technical language, teaching vocal and piano technique with just the right push to ask more from the students without offending. They gladly reach toward each bar she sets. Beth meets the kids where they are and manages to inspire them to want to practice and get better. I highly recommend her!

My 8 yr old and my 11 yr old have both been Beth’s Homeschool Choir and I observed all the rehearsals. Beth is a wonderful teacher who uses a wholistic, gentle approach to teaching music. She does not just teach the song, but she teaches the history behind the songs. My children are looking forward to upcoming choirs!
