Chicken Joe’s

Quality has significantly declined over the years. Do not confuse «Chicken Joe’s» with its former affiliate, «Garden Catering», which has a very similar menu but the ingredients are of a much higher quality. Last meal I had was a grilled chicken wrap, which was rubbery and tasteless. Won’t be going back to any of their locations. If you want to have the «High School Special» experience, go to Garden Catering on Sound Beach Ave in Old Greenwich.

I used to visit Cos Cob to work on my car with some friends. It became a tradition for us to visit Chicken Joe’s. Now I live in Florida. I have cravings for nuggets and fries with seasoning, they’re that good! I wish they’d decide to move to warmer climates and order one here in the Orlando area!

Excellent food, great variety. Have many ways to vary similar dishes to great affect. Fair prices and very nice people. Frequently, go there for lunch.

I love coming back home and going to Chicken Joe’s! I grew up going here (when they were still Garden Catering) and still continue to go every time I’m in town. I love getting their Baby or High School special because their chicken and cones are amazing. I hope they never change!

This is a must visit anytime I come to this area. They have great breakfast sandwiches served on a roll, would have taken a picture but it was eaten too quickly :).
The High School Special, Bad Boy, and Godfather all come in a bag with a side and its a bag of happiness. The potato cones are a standout with the nice seasoned crisp on the outside and soft potato on the inside. The chicken is always soft, hot, and very fresh fresh.

It was pretty clear that we were from out of town, but the owner was quick to help us out. We had the chicken nuggets and they were the amazing — made fresh. Whatever preconceived notion you have about chicken nuggets… forget about it. They are delicious!

Every summer we visit family, and my son insists on getting Chicken Joe’s at least once!
Chicken is all he eats, and this is one of his favorites!
We will back next summer!

This place is the best place to get chicken nuggets and french fries and the high school special the bad boy anyone of their magnificent combos and you will not be sorry.
Parking can be tricky but it is so worth it having to wait for a parking spot for this magnificent food.
I live in North Carolina right now but I will come back here and eat every time I visit Connecticut.

I’ve loved Chicken Joe’s and Garden Catering for years, but the quality of Chicken Joe’s ingredients has gone way down. My brother and I each ordered a grilled chicken wrap and the chicken tasted like rubber. I’m saying this and I have been ordering the same wrap from Chicken Joe’s/ Garden Catering locations since they first opened (I want to say around 1998?). They probably have had some success deep frying the chicken so you can’t taste it.
My family has stopped eating here in general because the quality has really been disappointing. The service and everything else here is fine, but I strongly feel that the ingredients are so sub par. Chicken Joe’s really used to be great (especially this location which has been open for years), but somewhere along the way during the franchising process, they lost what has made them great in the past: cheap, quality, fast food.
If you’re looking for a deli or a good sandwich, I would try Garden Catering in OG, Firehouse Deli in Byram, Burgers, Shakes, Fries in Byram, or Rye Ridge Deli in Stamford.

Good place, Unilocal directions sent us in the wrong direction and we ended up finding it by accident. :(
It has fast service, decent prices and solid food. Was I blown away? no. the fries in particular were nothing special, just warmed over. The chicken had a nice seasoning, but was a bit dry…

WONDERFUL YUMMY cones and fries and nuggets. Yes, service/​delivery guy could be «rude» and a bit annoying, but they must be so tired and under a lot of pressure each day. It’s understandable. Don’t be alarmed if during lunch time the guy behind the counter yells «NEXT» instead of saying «hello» first.

forever the original and best. the memories/​nostalgia are just as good as the food. who remembers walking from GHS, trying to convince upperclassmen to give you a ride back, then hunkering down in the student center, and being swarmed with friends asking «can i have a fry?» They always remember my mom and ask about her. Feels like home.

I have been coming here for years. The people are assholes and they are stingy with the sauces, but the food is delicious. I have never come across anything like the high school special anywhere else.

This place was a total surprise. Was in the area doing sales calls and needed lunch, saw this place and it looked interesting, so I stopped in. Glad I did.
The nuggets were really good — much better than I thought they’d be (ok, McD nuggets are a pretty low bar). The cones are awesome. I could have eaten a whole bag of those things. Didn’t try anything else on the menu, but I will the next time around. The guys that run this place are friendly and do a good job.

Staff is very New York — know your order when you get to the counter, then step aside. It’s a bit cramped inside, but it’s a shack after all.
I got the High School Special… didn’t think it was going to be enough food for lunch but it was. Chicken nuggets and mashed potato cones were great!

Small place but there are two stools if you want to eat indoors. However when I entered the place (around 12.30 pm) it was pretty busy and the workers weren’t that relaxed or smiling. I do understand it’s hard working under pressure but they still could have said Hello to me instead of saying «Next!».
I ordered a daily special — the Bushwick Swag with a soda (for 8.50 $ excl. Tax) and it took around 10 min. getting prepared which was ok.
The sandwich was big! My first bite of the sandwich was great but after that it wasn’t that much fun. …greasy chicken, hardly any mac bits and the taste was a bit bland!
However I was hungry and ate it, ha!

LOVE this place! Whatever else you get, be sure to try the «cones» — they are fried bites of creamy mashed potatoes, and they are better than any other form of fried potato. Just remarkable.
Oh and the chicken was delicious too.

Was just there this afternoon. Cheap imitation of garden catering. Chechen tasted awful. To make matters worse, workers are not that nice.
