If you are looking for a great easy to moderate hike, this is the place. They area is quite large and there are parking lots and areas where you can set up a picnic, relax, etc. I went hiking/jogging a few months back. I believe there are trails for bikers as well. The trails were trimmed and no over grown shrubs or bushes to make your way out from. Plus– it’s only 15 mins away from campus!

Peavy Arboretum is top notch and by far my favorite place for trail running. Corvallis is spoiled with having Mac Forest. This place is perfect for a day hike, a nice jaunt, or for picnicking. There are several options for parking but limited rest room facilities. There are several hikes within this area that connect with other areas of Mac forest throughout Corvallis. I prefer coming here after a nice ran or during the winter — views are lovely and the smells are perfect. Plus, trails tend to be used less often by others. Please be mindful, there are designated trails that do not allow bikers nor horseback riders — sometimes you’ll find piles of horse poo which is always a bummer, however those instances are few and far between.

MCDONALDFOREST! Sun was up. It’s free. And 15 min drive from my friend’s place. Be one with nature right? We certainly had fun with it. We snuck a peek at the abandoned cabin(being the nosy self I am) and ran around hugging trees. I was hoping some of the college students were in the middle of their arbor class in the forest so that I could crash it.

I am so happy that my 500th review gets to be something as amazing as Peavy Arboretum! I was first introduced to McDonald forest when my friend Stove and I went hiking in February and actually got lost, had to run through people’s backyards, and were eventually picked up by a nice man with his kids. I was recently introduced to Peavy Arboretum over the summer and have found it one of the most relaxing places to go for a run. The trails are endless, but make sure you remember your path, as I know a few friends(other than myself) who have gotten lost! The sights are beautiful, with all the trees, the lake, the farmhouse, and a place where they do some logging competitions. Perfect place to get away when you just want to escape the everyday world!
