We were looking for fresh strawberries today, and was too far away from our local farm we shop at. I have driven by many times when I am in the area, and just wanted to see what kind of selection they had. Payed over $ 10 for about a two larger packages of berries(around 2.5 pints), which were promptly at check out dumped out of said containers into a plastic produce bag. Cashier told us the owner likes to save them to use again. Pretty much turned to mush once we got them home. At least our cashier was a friendly guy, otherwise I would rate this lower.

I started to pull in to this store today, however, someone was spraying herbicides and I caught a good whiff before I saw them spraying. I left immediately. I tried to call them about this, but the phone number appears to be disconnected. I won’t go back because if they are so indiscriminately spraying herbicides/poisons what may be on the produce they sell? I could not call them to let them know of my concern. Although sensitive to pesticides, this just is wrong for a company selling fruits and veges that are supposed to be healthy for you. A good lawnmower or weed wacker will do the trick instead, without poisoning their property and customers.

Cute little stop to pick up some fruits and veggies. I’ve been going here for years, when I take a day trip to the coast. They have lots and lots of different things to pick from, like a store. But, the difference is that it’s fresh and local. I got some blueberries and cherries this time. The blueberries weren’t bad, and the cherries were DELICIOUS! And the blackberries were calling me too, but I had some in the fridge at home. In a small room to the side, they have local honeys, and bagged goodies. The vegetable chips are my favorites in that room. I only wish that they made a cajun mix, but oh well. :( The lady was really nice about helping us, and even let us have some samples. If you are craving some fruit on your trip to the beach, stop by. And don’t forget your flavored honey sticks on the way out.

The name is no longer Ray’s Fruit Stand — it’s Jim’s Fruit Stand. The first time I went, the service was a little rude and the selection was OK. In the spirit of buying local first, I gave it a second shot. The employee on my second visit was even more rude than the first. She didn’t seem too happy to put down her cell phone and ring up my order. Never going there again.

Great place with amazingly fresh fruits and veggies! This is a pretty sizeable fruit stand, and I love their selection. I almost hate the fact that it is so fresh and seasonal, because what I love one day will be gone in a second! I love stopping by here on my Mondays home from work so I can get some great snacks for the week!
