I was very surprised that this library was as nice as it is having come from Multnomah County where we’re always told about how great are libraries are(and they are) which made me, incorrectly, assume that a singular library in a relatively small town wouldn’t be up-to-snuff. I was wrong and the building is beautiful, the staff very helpful in locating things, and a nice cool place during the summer. Haven’t yet needed/wanted a book they didn’t have a copy of.

I love story time at the Corvallis Library, they read lots of books and in between each book they do a song and get the kids moving. The library is well laid out — something i usually cannot say about most library’s. The kids area has furniture just the right size and a reference desk that is perfect for children to come to for help. I love that we can borrow the board books for as long as we want, though I did stand there like a dork for 5 minutes figuring out how to check them out the first time! There are plenty of places to read or to plug in a laptop. Wifi is kind of spotty, lots of short disconnects but still more than usable. If you’re just doing something quick I recommend the library’s computers rather than your own. We love how quick things arrive when we put them on hold and the one day grace period combined with e-mail reminders for due dates has made it so easy to get things back on time. I love the self checkout, no lines and easy to use! There is limited free parking but the meters don’t cost much either so we use whatever is available. Good location too, right downtown but off busy streets like Hwy 99. We frequently go across the street to play in the park after we’ve gotten our books too!

CB Public Library — great book collection, I read around the serials room each month, staff knowledgeable and friendly and library is newly reorganized. After(or before) library time, go to the farmer’s market, Sunnyside Up, Central Park, the Mayor’s Office(he loves to meet people) or Riverfront Commemorative Park. #CorvSMB

If you like libraries, you’ll love this one. Many city libraries that have expanded over the years look hodge podge. I think that is why so many cities tear them down and build new ones. Fortunately the Corvallis library hired good architects and have done a great job across several major remodels to create a fantastic space to read and learn. Located across the street from Central Park and Corvallis’ Artcentric Gallery and just 2 blocks from the beautiful county courthouse. When you think of great small college towns and their wonderful libraries, it doesn’t get much better than this one.
