The Seabury At Fieldhome

Having visited the facility– Seabird at Fieldhome prior to my need for a subacute facility post surgery, I wasn’t impressed but chose it upon recommendations and location. I provided all the necessary information to the admissions director and was told not to worry come admission time all was taken care of. The day came and there was noone available in admitting to accept me so I was stuck in the hospital longer than I should have been. The next day again they were contacted by myself, family, the doctor, the hospital etc and we were told they never started the paperwork. The admissions staff had nothing but poor excuses. I am so happy I never stayed here and would certainly look elsewhere if the need arose for a subacute facility. Sad thing is I was told this was the best around. I hope I never need these services.

This place is very beautiful on the outside and at one time provided excellent care for its residence. Not anymore. They still have old administration on the website that are no longer there. It is no longer about aging in place it is about how they can make more money by moving residence from assisted living to memory support and then to the nursing home. The insensitivity and inhumane treatment of residents and their family by the administration is appalling. Despite horrible working conditions including a patient ratio of 32 – 1 aide on the night shift. the staff tries to do their best. They live in fear of the administrator and the turn over of staff is significant as a result. Despite the lovely grounds and accomodations what really counts is how the residents are treated. I think that stray animals are treated with more compassion than the administration at this place treats the residents. Interestingly enough there is a place on the bulletin board for complaints to be posted and in the 3 years I have been going there have never been any. I know this to be untrue. Residents are bored, not stimulated and the care level is not what it should be because of the very limited staffing. BEWARE do not put your loved ones here. There are other options. Country House, in Yorktown The Kensington in White Plains, The Atria. Anywhere just not the Seabury.
