A very nice environment with Ok food and fair prices. I’d recommend another Tex-next place if you’re trying to choose one.

This is Mexican food for those who really don’t know Mexican food. Got an upset stomach as soon as I ate. Only reason why I went here was because car died nearby and I was hungry. Cheesecake was not even cheesecake it’s more like a sponge. The servers are awkward and not friendly as well. It’s a bit to dark inside but tables look clean don’t know about the floors.

Excellent chimichangas, great specials. Fabulous ambiance. Staff was delightful, particularly as we were late dining on a weeknight, 9pm. Nice crowd, seeming as everyone enjoying themselves. Many smiles all around.

Wanted to give a huge thank you to staff for helping us host our son’s graduation dinner this past weekend. The staff was incredible and the food was very tasty. See you again in a few years for our daughters dinner. Hinojosa’s de Lockhart, TX!

I’ve been to Jaime’s a few times before I joined Unilocal… I’ve never been disappointed by the service or the quality of the food. Señor Jaime’s is a little pricier, though not by much, over some of the«neighborhood» Tex-Mex joints but their quality of food is a notch above. Their staff dresses better, the bar is a full bar and the food… like said… is high quality. One thing to know: they play it very safe with the spices. The salsa that comes with your chips is a bit watery compared to just about every other joint I’ve been to. But it’s got a really good flavor with very mild spices. I ordered the beef fajitas and they were THE most tender fajitas I’ve ever enjoyed. But… they could have had a tad more flavor which suggests their marinade is playing it safe. My wife ordered the chicken enchiladas and loved them… but also agreed that her food was low in salt, could be a little more flavorful. She had leftovers and packed every bean, rice grain and chip left after we felt full. So while she thought it COULD be a little more adventurous in the spices, she still very much enjoyed it. I had no leftovers. Those fajitas were doomed from the start. The atmosphere has a slight formal vibe compared to the local places located in strip centers and old Dairy Queen buildings and the like… and the music was on just enough to provide something to fill in silence but not to overwhelm private conversation. Nice. ONE of the waitresses likes to talk REALLLLLYLOUD which is distracting and annoying… but that’s the only thing we had to complain about. Prices: good value. Service: very good in our case(not the loud waitress) and not overbearing. Food: high quality but playing it safe.

My family and I were in Corpus for a few days of R&R for the first time ever. I have 3 kids so I’m always looking for a family friendly place but where the food is good and the drinks are tasty with a good price $$. It was a Friday night and we had to circle the parking to find a spot. We did and it was right next to their drive thru window which made me a little nervous. We walked in and it wasn’t impressive. We were greeted about 1 minute after our arrival and told it would be a 25 – 30 minute wait. I couldn’t think of a reason why especially since I saw a few empty tables. Nevertheless, my kids were tired and cranky and I didn’t feel like leaving trying to find another place. I went to the bar and the guy there was super attentive. I asked for a top shelf margarita and it was good and reasonably priced for a Patron margarita($ 8.50). I made my way back to the front of the restaurant only to find that there was suddenly about 15 people that walked in after us. Good sign I thought. We were seated 10 min after we arrived and it was a bad table. The host say us down but the waitress didn’t show up for at least 5 minutes so I was glad that I had gotten a drink for my wife and I. Luckily they had wifi so the kids couldn’t think of food or drink for at least a few minutes. The waitress finally came around and was ok. We got the chips and queso which was fine but the table salsa had too much onion for my liking. The app came fast but the waitress didn’t. She finally came around and we ordered. It was Good Friday so we were celebrating Lent and so I ordered the fish tacos and my wife the cheese enchiladas. Kids got a cheeseburger(2 sliders) and the other a kid quesadilla. Not a bad price for kids meal, less than $ 5 each and it came with a drink. Food seemed to take a while but it finally came. It was alright. Nothing to brag about so I definitely wouldn’t make it a point to come back or recommend to anyone. Waitress only checked in us about every 7 – 9 minutes and I was not impressed with her service or mediocre food. I would suggest to management to visit each table for a personal touch since this is a touristy city and word probably gets around fast. I guess they weren’t concerned because I did notice large families kept coming in after we were seated. If I ever go back(probably not), I’ll go early enough for happy hour and maybe sit in the bar and have some more chips and queso. That would be it. Unilocal a better place with a nice happy hour. A friend recommended Taqueria Jalisco instead after my Facebook post of the food and service while I was here but It was too late but I will have to remember because I’m definitely bringing my family back to this town.

We went to Señor Jaime’s for the first time tonight. It was … OK. My mom thought the enchiladas were decent, but the waiter explained that they were made with American cheese and that took some of the wind out of our sails.(Seriously? American cheese?) The menu stated that the fish tacos were made from local fish, but when I asked for more information about the fish the waiter told me they were made from tilapia that was not local. That’s false advertising. My husband ordered the tropical fajitas, which were served on a regular ceramic plate and were average at best. People near us got sizzling fajitas on a metal skillet. All in all, the food was OK but it was nothing to write home about. We’ll try somewhere else the next time.

Fantastic Mexican! We went to about 5 different Mexican restaurants while in the Corpus area and this was by far our favorite! The guacamole was delish and the sopaipillas were made exactly how they should be… how you canNOT get them in the Midwest apparently. My entrees each time I went here were always fantastic. Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it.

AMAZING!!! Food is absolutely amazing and service phenomenal. I’d recommend getting the fajitas, with fresh made tortillas straight from their tortilleria. Table side guacamole is a must and if you’re feeling a little crazy try the top shelf margarita. 100% would recommend this restaurant to anybody in the area!

Just finished a family meal at Señor Jaime’s(Monday, September 21st, 2015). I have to admit I’m bit of a Mexican food junkie and wherever I travel(which is quite a bit) I try to seek out good Mexican food. Looks don’t matter much to me and the more authentic the better. We even sought out Mexican, and found some good food in Washington DC, which has quite a food scene. So we had high hopes for Mexican in Corpus Christi — we grew up in Southern California and left in the mid-70’s … and have been seeking good Mexican ever since. We’re now from the pacify northwest and were hoping for a good me/tex-mex meal while we are in town. The reviews looked good and we headed off to Jaime’s. We arrived just before 7 and found plenty of space. As a previous reviewer mentioned — the place is quite spacious inside and well decorated. The tortillas are made fresh on a viewable machine. They have a full bar and we noticed quite a few regulars that the staff greeted personally when they arrived. Our meal was capped by good bookends. The hostess was friendly and accommodating for our daughter’s wheelchair. Angel, our server, was very polite and prompt. The margaritas arrived without salt, the chips were plain and unfortunately they matched the salsa. We ordered table side guacamole, which was prepared well — and«yes sir» was the response when we asked for peppers in the guac. When there was no heat, we asked and were told they were out of serrano peppers. What did that«yes sir» mean? Angel brought out a «hot» green salsa and some jalapeños(that were not diced). We added a generous portion of green salsa to the guac — it was still not hot. The food was good, but as a 2* rating is «I’ve experienced better» we couldn’t quite get to a 3* «A-OK». My chile relleno was OK — but the breading and potato/ground beef stuffing(kind of unusual) overpowered a bland poblano — added green sauce to help it out. My daughter’s cheese enchiladas were good — seemed like a Mexican cheese inside, not classic american stuff(a plus). My wife said the seafood tacos were good but not outstanding. Her second margarita did come with salt. To close we had the strawberry nachos — the portion was large and they were tasty. A good bookend. So, not a bad meal, just not above average. Prices were quite affordable. I’m glad my wife choose Jaime’s so I didn’t have to take the heat for a choice I made.

We recently discovered this place after an acquaintance raved about. This area is awash with«Mexican» and Tex-Mex restaurants and one quickly tires of the same type of food, but my husband and I are always ready to try a new restaurant. We are so glad we did! Señor Jaime’s is not like any of the other of the«Mexican» or Tex-Mex restaurants we’ve tried. It was clean(cloth napkins and table cloths), the service was fast, attentive and great, food was flavorful and delicious(portions were large-we had take home for lunch the next day) and the huge margarita(made with Patron) almost knocked my socks off. We will be taking visitors to this restaurant for sure. The negative reviews on here make me question if the reviewers were at the same restaurant.

Outstanding!!! The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. We had guacamole made fresh at the table. The food portions are huge so order wisely. Service was quick and easy. The place Is a lot larger than it looks on the outside. In fact, don’t judge the outside at all. It’s beautiful and elegant, very welcoming. So glad we stopped!

The food is top notch, my personal fave is cheese enchiladas and the lemonade. The environment is very nice, better than the Taqueria. I honestly disagree with the negative comments when it comes to their service, however I did visit the restaurant a few weeks ago and they were busy and seemed to be lacking staff but other than that I see no problems. I will definitely revisit.

Since moving to CC8 weeks ago, I have eaten here at least once a week. So I definitely like it! Love the queso, the caldo, the margaritas, the taco plato, the pollo monterey, pretty much everything! They stay busy but the service is quick and they have the perfect back wall to sit us so my 3 year old doesn’t bother other diners.

Went there Tuesday after traveling with three kids. Waited to be seated for about ten+ minutes, even waiters saw us and didn’t take the initiative to get us a table. Other people came in behind us, and a waitress saw us then said, «you can go ahead and seat yourselves.» We took a seat, and then saw the couple behind us getting chips and salsa. We looked at each other and said ‘let’s wait a few minutes.’ STILL not one person came over to take our order. We got up and left. Looked like they were understaffed. A real disappointment, and waste of our time. Thanks for nothing.

What happened!!! This place used to be so good. The food and staff used to be great. Now… not so much. The first time I came here was several years ago. My parents brought me here while I was living in Houston. I distinctively remember the server being friendly and attentive. I remember the food being bursting with flavor. Now that I moved back to Corpus, I’ve come to the restaurant hoping for the same experience, but have come back more and more disappointed each time. Last visit was the last straw and I will no longer be returning. Restaurant Impossible should come save this place. Where are you Robert Irvine?! Each time I’ve come back, something else has disappointed me. All together: 1) the chicken fajitas lack flavor. They used to be so tasty, but they have really gone down in seasoning or something. 2) The portion of the fajitas is outrageously small for the price. They bring you three tortillas, which is a good amount… but you can basically put 1, maybe 1.5 strips of fajitas in each tortilla to last you all three tortillas. 3) They ALWAYS, and I do mean ALWAYS, forget to bring my tortillas after bringing my food. Even though I always make sure to mention what kind of tortillas I want when I order my food, they must never write it down, b/c whenever they bring my food, they ask what kind of tortillas I want, and do not return for a few minutes… just enough time to make my food cool down. 4) I used to LOVE the table-side guacamole. I thought you couldn’t go wrong with fresh guacamole. Last time they made it, they didn’t add enough salt, lime juice, and added WAY too many vegetables for the amount of avocado they added. I get that I can add salt myself, but isn’t the point of getting«table-side guacamole» so I don’t have to add anything to it myself? Don’t get me wrong, I prefer my guacamole(but not my women) a little bit chunky. The guacamole was beyond a little chunky. Every time I dipped my chip into the guac, I felt like I was getting a chip full of onion, tomato, and a tiny bit of avocado. 5) Oh the wait staff. They are neither friendly nor attentive. They seem to not care about their jobs. Last time, our waitress asked us what we wanted to order to drink, my wife started answering her. The waitress just turned her head around and started talking to someone else! Come on now, show a little respect. Other times, our waitress never checked how we were doing or never brought us refills or asked if we wanted another drink. 6) The margaritas used to be great, fresh tasting authentic margaritas. Now, they just seem like any other margarita that could be served at any bar. They seem to be watered down and contain very little tequila. The margarita I usually order is the one with fresh OJ and fresh lime juice. Last time, my drink just basically tasted like minute maid with a splash of tequila… it did not taste like a margarita at all. It was closer to a tequila sunrise than anything else. Sadly, I do not think I will be returning to Sr. Jaime’s.

we went here while on Vacay around 2 or 3 pm on a Tuesday. The place was dead with only one other couple in the dining room so I got a bit worried. Luckily the food turned out to be absolutely awesome! The salsa is great, the queso is just ok. We ordered the first soup listed that had chicken, avocado, rice, and other stuff and it was absolutely awesome! I am not a huge soup fan, I mean it’s 95 degrees out side but this stuff I could eat every day. I had the Fajitas which tasted wonderful. They were tender and flavored well. Tortillas were homemade I believe. My wife had that dish that comes with meat in a big pepper and she enjoyed it. I only have two complaints. One, the fajitas did not come with the side plate of goodies like guac, sour cream, and pico. I thought the waiter forgot it so I asked and he said it did not come with it and that they could make one but it would be like $ 5. Luckily I had queso and i just used the salsa. The other complaint was about the waiter Jorge. He just wasn’t very nice… not mean, just not very nice. He kinda acted like robot or as if he didn’t enjoy his job. Despite that, the really bad part was that he was so slow. Everything took forever. Refill forever. When my fajitas came out I had to wait like 4 minutes for him to bring out my rice and beans because he was refilling someone elses drink. I totally get that he has other tables but I would like my meal to come out in one piece. Then when it came time to check out we waited another 10 minutes for him to take our card. Overall, great food!!! Maybe a different waiter could help the experience but the food is worth it even with the worst waiter. Advice to the restaurant would be charge a couple extra dollars and include the plate of goodies with the fajitas.
