We tried a new mexican restaurant tonight. This is by far the best Mexican food we have found in Corpus Christi! They have some different ways of making some menu items but for the most part are really good. We will definitely come back here.

The fajitas are amazing! Only thing I ever get from here because they are so good. Super fun place, they have live music every now and then which makes it even better.

They have a vast menu and when I asked about gluten free options I was promptly told there was nothing. So avoid if need gluten free options because apparently nothing can be made gf. And the people I was with that we’re able to eat said the food was only okay and probably would suggest to others.

Went for lunch with some friends. Very loud — couldn’t carry a conversation with them without yelling. Food was good. Green sauce was great. Decent price.

The mid-week excursion for Mexican food brought us to La Playa on Saratoga. The place was busy for mid-week. My wife and I were seated right away. The dining experience was mixed bag. The upside– The Taco Al Pastor plate. Juicy, tender meat mixed together with queso makes this one tough to pass up the next time. My wife’s sour cream enchiladas were creamy and well balanced in spice and filling. Kitchen crew has good control on the grease factor that can make or break a good Mexican dish. Andrea was our server. Friendly and helpful. When the iced tea tasted weak, Andrea promptly replaced with a fresh batch. If a product runs out, be honest about it. Andrea came out and told us the previous daily rushes caused the green salsa to run out. She apologized and the spicy red salsa made up for the shortcoming. Clean. The dining area was well taken care of. No clutter on the tables or floor. The floor did not have the moist, waxy buildup that required extra caution to walk. No issues with nauseous oder or cleaning spray in the bathroom. The downside– Restaurant’s servers could have made better use of time by following up on other customers, restocking or checking up on the remaining dining area. Time was passing by and some of servers were standing around the bar, talking with other employees and watching the games. There were lapses in time because our table was not asked if we wanted more chips, salsa or if we were enjoying our evening. The star ratings don’t include adding half stars. I am limited to 3 stars yet La Playa-Saratoga gets a 3.5 for good food, a friendly server and cleanliness.

The food here is excellent. Especially the queso dip! Unfortunately, the service is not so great… We waited about 5 minutes for anyone to greet our table to get our drinks, and another 10 for the drinks… we never got refills either! We got our food in a good amount of time, but then waited for another 20 minutes for the check. If the service would improve, this would be my «go to» place.

I’ve been in search of decent Mexican food and finally found it. I made my own burrito with just fajita meat, guacamole, pico, and cheese. It was just like Roberto’s of San Diego ca. Make sure u tell them not to use queso cheese but shredded cheese and NO gravy. You’ll come back for more

DONOTRISKIT. NOSERVICE. We got chips and drinks and the server disappeared. The place was empty and there was no soap in bathrooms. There were people trying to pay but couldn’t get helped. Left after 30 minuets.

When we walked in we were greeted quickly and sat within a few minutes, however the waitress didn’t show up for at least 5 min. We were given chips and salsa before a drink order was ever taken. The server then brought only my tea and took the order. The rest of the drinks came out, except for my husband’s beer. The food arrived and he still had not gotten his beer. Ridiculous! The food had no flavor, was cold, and the tortillas were raw. Our sever never checked on us once. She didn’t write the order down, so 2 of our plates were wrong. My tea went empty 3 times and every time our server messed up, she blamed it on some man that was in a mood. Needless to say we won’t be back, EVER!

Yesterday my husband and I went to la playa for dinner. The service was horrible and the food came out cold after specifically asking for it to be hot. We then asked for extra sauce and was charged an extra $ 2. Several hours later I was sick and up all night. I would not recommend la playa.

Don’t bother wasting your time here, been the rev3 Times and all 3 experiences where bad food was not fresh my salsa literally had a rotten tomato taste!

La playa is a great place to grub on some Mexican cuisine. Seafood enchiladas, OMG. They are delish! The queso with ground beef is also a fav of mine. The atmosphere is kinda dull, but they do have a full bar and a delish margarita. So you can liven the place up with a few drinks :) definitely stop here next time you need your daily dose of Mexican food.

The chips and salsa were awesome, especially the green salsa. They are very addicting. I had the fried avocado with chicken, not something I normally would eat, but so glad that I did, it was so delicious! But… The service is less than to be desired. The waiter never checked on us, glasses were left empty, and a waitress who happened to be walking by hot us more chips and salsa. The service knocked them down to a 3 for me.

Big place. Good food. That’s all that matters. I would rather go here than a chain Tex-Mex joint. They do have some original menu ideas, so give them a try. Other places may be cheaper, but the seafood chimi doesn’t disappoint.

My husband and I really enjoy this spot. New-ish to Corpus, we’ve noticed a lot of Mexican food here is a bit on the Americanized side but not this place. Great tasting, authentic dishes, with friendly staff and some sweet Latin jams to sing along to. This will continue to be one of our go-to spots here.

We had a dinner Sat night that was so delicious we decided to return for Sun. Breakfast and we’re not disappointed! Service was a bit uneven but the food more than made up for it. Enjoy!!!

So far so good! Is a little pricey and the service so far has been okay. We got our food in about 20 min. I ordered the La Playa Chimichanga with chicken. It was really good! The hubs ordered the Chicken Jalisco, he ate it all up in about 3min. I didn’t even get to taste it!

Okay food, okay environment. coming from Houston, TX lately I’ve had my share of good Mexican restaurants. This place is always packed, and it was great service except the food for me was lacking of flavor. It was all just mediocre food for me. The margarita was pure sweet and sour and had no tequila flavor and came in a plastic glass, it was top shelf as well. As many places there are in Corpus Christi I have yet to find a truely authentic tasting of Mexican food. Houston just blew me out of the water in this area. Would go back as my family loves this place, or the La Playa chain of restaurants.
