My favorite dinner restaurant in Corpus! Ginger Café is unique in that it has Mediterranean and South Asian food. Everything on the menu is very well thought out and after trying four different plates, it is all excellent. The owners bring the spices from Jordan, which makes it that much more authentic. Bring a bottle of wine from home for a great night.

Originally Kuzina’s on Saratoga, now Ginger Café on Staples. Different name and location but the same amazing food and a great atmosphere. This is my go-to restaurant because I know whatever I order, it will be delicious. I have a really hard time passing up their kefta sandwiches and their gyros is the best I’ve tasted. My niece orders something different every time and she has not been disappointed yet. But what really blew us away was their steak. My husband likes his medium rare. Not only did they actually cook a medium rare steak, a challenge for even steak houses, but it was deliciously seasoned. my husband said it is the best steak he’s had in years. It’s his favourite item on the menu and it’s perfect every time. This is a restaurant worth going back to often.

Staff is not very friendly and food is mediocre at best. Not true middle eastern cuisine. Use the same names but the taste is off.

Phenomenal! The staff is courteous, the food is fantastic, but the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. We went here on a couple of occasions: once for our wedding anniversary and another to bring my wife’s parents. Both times were great. They have wonderfully cooked lamb along with hummus and tabouli; the best I think I’ve ever had. However, it felt as though this was eaten in an Italian restaurant or at least a repurposed one. Call me petty, but the atmosphere of this place left something to be desired, even though the food did not.

Incredibly tasty and aromatic dishes. I had the butter chicken and my wife the lamb shank. The butter Chicken was tender with wonderful spices. It was marked with one chili pepper to denote a mild spice level. The butter chicken was less than mild, but I appreciate the notification for spice as people’s tolerance will vary. The entrée came with a side of basmati rice and a small portion of yogurt sauce. All three items complimented one another. A great dish that I will get again on the next visit. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked with only a mild«gamey» taste. If you’ve never had lamb, this would be a good introduction. The spice paste on the shank was not over powering, working harmoniously with the side of basmati rice and yogurt sauce. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional. I appreciated they were savvy enough to ask for a positive Unilocal review and to like them on Facebook. Will return again. This is a wonderful curio for Corpus and deserves your support.

I love this place! Since I relocated here, I have been here three times and never have been disappointed! The lamb chops are divine, the lamb steak is amazing and so is their chicken. I love the staff here, they are so sincere and sweet! This place never fails!

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in all of the state. The food is so delicious and satisfying. It always hits the spot. The service is tge best I have ever had. Everytime you walk in they make you feel like a VIP. I have not had anything I didn’t like on the menu; from their fattoush salad to the lamb burger to the butter chicken.

Had the lamb shank– OUTSTANDINGMARINE! With this quality of food we need more of it. The family run business is serious about keeping you happy and all the food is excellent. Live entertainment on Saturday but you need to plan because it’s not that big. Summer time is very busy. I’m a happy camper tonight.

Greeted by the Chef himself at the door. The food was extremely tasty. Very unique choices. We will definitely try again to try a different entrée.

Best Mediterranean /middle Eastern /German /Italian /amazing mix of foods I’ve found since Paris last summer. Wonderful selection. Wonderful service. Open on Christmas awesome! Nothing says Christmas like eating the foods the baby Jesus would have loved. Really good music and atmosphere. The lamb is so tender & the flavor amazing. Highly recommended. Love this place a new fav in Corpus.

Never had Mediterranean cuisine like at Ginger Café. Asked Zach who attended my gf and I. He said he would take care of us and his recommendations did not fail! Falafel appetizer was amazing! And was brought well in advance to our main dish which made enjoying the ambiance of this cozy restaurant worth it. The meal I had was a combination plate with chicken, beef, and lamb. The food was very tender perfectly seasoned and cooked! My gf was served lamb chops which smelled and tasted excellent! Zach was very personable and attentive as well as the other staff who attended to their tables with just as much care. Amazing place definitely a must try for anyone seeking a great variety of food!

I had heard this is a great place to dine and the fact I could bring my own bottle of wine made it a plus to want to try. Late Saturday afternoon lunch, bottle of wine in hand and ready for a food adventure we enter Ginger Café. Zach greeted us and place us in a nice cozy booth. As we explained neither one of us knew anything about anything on the menu(we just drooled over the picture menu on the tele) Zach told us he would take care of us and recommended the falafel, tabuli with hummus… which was so flavorful and a meal on its own. I was brought the lamb shanks which melted in my mouth and the garlic sauce that accompanied was very rich. My bf was served a meat tray with chicken and lamb over a bed of saffron rice(of which I preferred over the fries that came with my dish). The meats were full of spice and so very tender! We finished the wine and meal with turkish coffee and baklava! The ambiance was like being in someone’s home while they cooked a holiday spread and family and friends coming and going after stopping in for a meal. Great! Great! Great! We will be back… and soon I hope!

Upon being seated at Ginger Café, we asked the server to recommend something and she instantly recommended the lamb shank and the combo appetizer. She explained that if you like lamb, the lamb shank is a must, but that there are killer items in every category on the menu. After reading the menu, we feel like she is probably right. There it was, on the menu: Braised lamb shank with onions, carrots, celery, thyme and rosemary. Cooked slowly until tender topped with Jordanian yogurt sauce Served with grilled fresh vegetables over basmati rice. Our meal began with the house salad, sliced just right to fit a bite neatly into your mouth without making a mess, and topped with perfectly crisp crunchy bits of toasted pita. It had a drizzle of a spicy dressing with a slight tang and was accented with a light dusting of seasoning. Love that none of the leaves are huge — all fit nicely into a bite. Total flavor bomb opener to get your pallet ready for the main course. The lamb shank arrived looking amazing. Topped with a fragrant light green sauce, the aroma makes you start salivating before you’ve even had the first bit. As a side, perfectly cooked, aromatic yellow rice, accompanied by sautéed squash. The shank is all lamb, tender and forkable. The sauce is cool and vibrant and offsets the deep lamb flavor. The shank was deep and dark and the fats melted into butter… Mmmmm… This was a lot of fun to eat and the spices take you away. Take your time and enjoy the flavors. You’ll be back for more… For more dishes that will make your drool, check us out on drooldish!

This place is pretty awesome. I came here after work, dying of hunger, and read up on its reviews on Unilocal.Since it got fairly good to excellent reviews, I decided to give it a shot, mostly because I was craving halal type food. I got to the restaurant, and the workers were polite and efficient. I was able to choose where to sit and they attended to me quickly. I ordered the gyro plate, and waiting time was about 10 minutes, which was fairly good waiting time. I didn’t know a salad came with the entrees, so when they brought out my food, they also gave me a salad aside from the gyro plate, which was a pleasant surprise — seeing that I was super hungry and could eat anything and everything lol I think the restaurant is run by a family, and while I was eating, three or four of them individually came up to check on how I liked the food, which was really nice. They are a sweet bunch of workers and owners. I had a nice conversation with one of the waiters as well. Overall, even though I was eating alone, the restaurant ambience and workers really made me feel at home and comfortable. The food was fantastic as well. I’ll be going there again very soon.

This place is packed every time we go and for very good reason, the food is amazing and the service is even better. Can’t say enough about the friendly staff. The food is homemade, perfectly seasoned, and delish to the last bite. I almost licked the plate of tiramisu.

Got some Ginger to-go the other night since I’ve been out of town and craving it. Every time I take that first bite of my trio-kabob mixed in with the sauce it is like heaven on earth! This place has some of the best food in TEXAS I’ve tried. If you are use to the amazing food quality/service of huge metro cities, this place would fit right in and make you feel welcomed. If you love GOOD food, and want to try a new restaurant that you normally wouldn’t… Ginger it is! Great job again guys, so good. Be back soon! Probably the best restaurant in town.

This place has got it going! You can tell it’s a family run business, servers are young and VERY attentive and personal, we had the hummus for appetizer, it was delicious but only complaint is that they could bring up the quality of pita to match their amazing food. I ordered the falafel sandwich with sweet potato fries and fell in love! My business partner ordered the chicken Marsala, and waiter recommend the chicken tikka, which he ended up loving! Great atmosphere and food, will come back again if in town. Mediterranean food may not be the most popular, but this place will make you fall in love, so give it a try!

***** Hummus and Tabbouleh and Falafel– OHMY! Thank you, Unilocalers, for turning me on to this 5-star GEM tucked away in a small strip off South Staples! When I relocated to the Coastal Bend from the culinary mecca of DC, I never expected to find such authentic Middle Eastern flavors outside the Beltway(with the exception of Michigan…). Imagine my surprise when I walked into the Ginger Café & Grill and my olfactory senses were gobsmacked with a heavenly wallop of simmering spice wafting out from the small kitchen into the dining area! Casually decorated in booths and melamine tables, the GC&G boasts a HUGE menu of Levantine, Persian, Moroccan and Indian offerings. Many of the appetizers come mezza-style with fresh and toasted pita bread as dippers. I highly recommend the hummus topped with chicken shawarma – creamy, tangy, and balanced with just the right amount of tahini and a splash of lemon to brighten the palate! Baba ghanoush is packed with creamy, smoky eggplant goodness – and none of the stringy bits or seeds that sometimes plague the dish in other small Mediterranean cafes. The lamb is unctuously delicious and just melts in your mouth like butter. The service is friendly and welcoming —and authentically Middle Eastern.(In other words«expect warm hospitality but don’t expect them to move with a sense of urgency and rush to take orders or bring the check») This is a family-owned establishment where the owners treat you like one of their own and remember your face and what you like to eat every time. What a treat! ***Ginger Café and Grill is a BYOB establishment. Don’t forget to grab a bottle of what you like and bring it with you! If you should forget, there is a little«Bottle Shop» just a two minute walk across the parking lot where you can find a limited but decent selection of wine to pair with your meal.
