Must try! Hot, juicy, and crispy. The trifecta in action! Very friendly as well. :}

The food is always great. My husband works close to there, and when we have lunch with him, a favorite choice is chicken shack. My son loves the fried ochre, I love fried pickles, and the chicken is always crispy good.

I have seen the Chicken Shack many times driving out of Corpus Christi to our ranch. I have never stopped in because I thought it was like a Good-n-Crisp. However, much to my surprise it is a full fledged restaurant, not fast food as I had thought. They have a drive thru and I found this convenient for the day I stopped by for a late lunch. They were very helpful with the menu and even told us we got a free drink with our meals, as it was the special of the day. The staff were all very nice and friendly and didn’t treat you like the typical fast food patron in Corpus. Now for the reason I give 3 stars, and that might change as I will visit them again, is for the food. I ordered a four piece chicken strip meal with fried okra and mac and cheese. The chicken strips were cold, hard to chew, and really had no flavor. The breading was thin and soggy, not crispy as I had hoped. The okra was delicious however, and the mac and cheese was actually shells and cheese, which tasted like Velvetta shells and cheese I make at home. The biscuit that came with the meal was tasteless and a bit sour. I don’t know how you can mess up biscuits, but they did this day. I had also ordered fried pickle spears, and they were amazing and pretty much what I ate as the meal. I had to give up on the tenders after the first one. The okra and shells and cheese is what I filled up on. The sweet tea was a bit strong, but I have found that is common down here. I will return again for sure and try eating in house. The deserts sound delicious and maybe the chicken will be better if it is not to go.

i like chicken shack its good food in a nice clean place of business. the only reason its not 5 stars is because it is a bit pricy, 3 $+ for a little slice of pie? its good but dayum. but the food is great and so is everything else its like Disney land of fried food«BRINGMONEY!» LOL

This has got to be the best chicken joint i have ever been to. Bush’s, Bill Millers and any chicken spot out there cannot compare. The chicken tenders are lightly breaded with an abundance of flavor. They are also some of the largest tenders I have consistently received. Mac n cheese is amazing! I also tasted the chocolate buttermilk pie and I was very surprised with the rich creamy flavor. If you have not been here, you will not be disappointed.

Pleasantly surprised! Had chicken tender special. $ 7.99 for four large freshly battered breast tenders with two sides and bread(chose mashed potatoes with good cream gravy and fried okra) and 20 oz. drink from the drive-thru. Food was flavorful and tasty. I did ask for hot sauce(Louisiana hot sauce) for the chicken and honey for the cornbread(which was sweet). The plate was pretty big. Wish I had tried some pie. Maybe next time! :)

If your looking for large portions of friend chicken and sides, this is the place to be. If not, your at the wrong place. My family and I recieved three large plates of greasy chicken. The server warned us the chicken was hot, right out of the«greaser». He was definitely right. The first thigh my grandpa was eating was still smoking a few minutes after the kid left. Too hot to eat. Not being fried chicken fan, I tried the«safe route» with chicken fingers. I some enormous chicken fingers with homemade batter and fried. Similar look to their fried legs and thighs. My chicken was equivalent to two giant chicken breasts sliced in two strips and fried. Honestly, I am certain on that’s what they did. Definitely fresh chicken fingers. None of us finished our plates overloaded with chicken and sides. We agreed splitting one plate would of been sufficient for three of us. If your looking for large amounts of hot fried chicken and sides, you’ll be in «hog heaven» as this chicken joint.

I think the chicken is very bland and it was a little overcooked. Macaroni and cheese was overcooked 10.00 for 3 pcs combo a little much. Folks must come back for the pie. waitstaff very nice. very clean restrooms I have been working in Corpus for over a month and living in Calallen best fried chicken so far has been at Bill Millers BBQ

Wonderful family owned restaurant! Love everything on the menu. Don’t leave w/o getting a slice of one of their homemade pies! Always have a great daily special. Fridays are King Ranch Chicken(get there early or call ahead, it’s so good they sell out!) YUM

Pretty decent chicken. I love their mac & cheese. It’s a little mom and pop place and they usually have a great staff
