Quick and easy coffee on the go as you’re walking down the street. Decent service. Tried raspberry cheese cake coffee i think it was. Really good so rich i couldn’t finish.(But I’m not much for really sweet coffee). Nice it uss right in front of the book store! Love it!

This is not a coffee shop … it is a coffee stand and all the 5 star reviews are a joke. I love espresso so I went with a Con Panna; I got a double. My wife order a medium chai latte; our total was $ 7.00. I was surprised when I was told they do not accept cards and are cash only. The barista told me there is a BofA down the street … Ok on to the coffee. My wife’s chai was ok. However, when I saw my con panna was in a large paper cup I asked for a mug and was informed they don’t have anything but paper cups. For me this is not how you enjoy espresso … and I personally would never order a con panna if a mug was not available(to me it should never be served this way and it ruins the drink.). We drove out of our way to try this place and left extremely disappointed … As I said before all these 5 star reviews have to be a joke.

I like supporting local businesses, especially coffee shops. Why go to Starbucks when you can get better coffee? Their coffee is good, and they use Café Calabria beans. Only $ 1 for an iced coffee, and if you go after 3pm, pastries are $ 1 each. You can grab a drink and enjoy by the beach! They are cash only.

This little coffee stand was the perfect mid-afternoon pickup. There were no lines and the barista was very friendly. My boyfriend is more of a coffee aficionado than I am and he loved his espresso con panna. My Mexicali Mocha was yummy too. It was warm and chocolaty, just what I needed for a stroll along the beach.

My favorite coffee stop. Im here usually 6 – 7 days a week. Not sure whats up with the one star reviews, either they are use to 7 – 11 sugar loaded drinks or just unhappy bitter people. The staff here is super cool, well priced and delicious drinks. For sure where the locals come to chit chat and hangout. Easy to pull up in the car and get back on the road, pretty quick service. Wifi is with the bookstore, a separate business… Bonus: they use Caffe Calabria coffee. Cash only, but they are cool if you just need your fix and pay later, where else can you find that.

Gas station quality coffee. I had a cappuccino– the proportions were way off. My husband had an iced coffee which was equally bad. He uses a cheap push-button espresso machine… I suspect there are a few bogus reviews here.

Best deal in town! $ 1 for an 8oz. not many places even offer that size any more. +$ 0.50 for each size. up to $ 2.50 for a 20oz. + ONLY $ 0.50 refills. SCORE! I frequent this place often. it’s like a little corner Cheers for me and many regulars(locals and non locals alike) I bring my own container each time and the coffee is only $ 1! Saving the earth and my pocket book one cup at a time ;) Coffee is great, they sell the locally roasted«Café Calabria» in North Park(that’s high ends stuff. Those guys really know their stuff). so everything is very recently roasted. Makes a big difference! But my absolute fav is their espresso. hard to find nice, quality and smooth espresso these days. Looking for a more european shot. this is your place! ** The little corner café/coffee cart is located in front of Bay Books who has wifi and can be accessed from outside. you just have to purchase something there to get the PW on the bottom of your receipt. Works out great.

Mediocre, pricey coffee and no wifi. FYI, this a coffee stand, not a coffee shop. That being said, there is no wifi. There are a couple chairs and tables next to the stand, which are nice when the sun is shining on a beautiful day. Another Unilocaler said Café Madrid has the best coffee on Coronado, so I simply HAD to try it. I was disappointed. First of all, my cup of plain coffee cost $ 2.50, and as you could probably guess, there was no gold in it. The coffee is weak and lacks flavor. The coffee wasn’t ‘bad’ like some I’ve tried at other places, but it simply wasn’t good either. The gentleman working at the time of my visit was very friendly, but not friendly enough for me to revisit Café Madrid. If you’re a coffee lover, don’t waste your time on this place. I’m not a latte, cappuccino, or other type of drink person, so I cannot say if the other drinks offered on the menu here are good or not, but actual coffee is less than admirable.

The machiato was great and the barista pleasant. The outdoor and only seating is great but somewhat limited but who can beat the location of Coronado? Great people watching and would go back!

Best coffee in town(especially when made by Jason)!!! I’ve tried all the cafes in Coronado and by far this one is the best. It helps to give Coronado a small town feel since they remembered my name and what I drink. AWESOME!

Love this place! Jason always there with a smile. I like this place, I’d be a regular if I lived back in coronado. The chance to slow down in your life, sit around and say hi to friendly people, enjoy the morning paper, and just relax in the morning air. The other nice part, is if you’re in a bit of a time crunch pulling up to the curb and grabbing a quick cup of joe is def possible.

Piping HOT coffee and coffee drinks, It’s great that you can pull up to the curb and grab a much better, waaay better quality frothy customized drink here than Starbucks across the street. No parking stress, no lines, very friendly owner, and a better drink than ANY other coffee shop or cart in SD. It’s a no-brainier where to get pre-work warm caffeine in the morning.

A quaint little walk-up window that accepts cash only… and that makes a lovely«Mexicali Mocha» with a dollop of what I believe is homemade whipped cream. Suited my stroll along the beach on an overcast morning just fine. My only gripe is that there wasn’t more… perhaps I should have ordered a large…

As a resident of Coronado I have to say that there is no better place for coffee than Café Madrid. I like driving by on my way to school or work and stopping in the loading zone right in front. My favorite for summer days is the Blended Soy Latte and for the warmer days a Hazelnut Cappuchino. Beats Starbucks that’s for sure and I am a fan of supporting local businesses. Next time you’re in Coronado be sure to stop at the little Green Tent next to the bookstore on Orange Avenue. You will not be disappointed :)

I’m ashamed to say it took me four years of living on the island to come to the Café Madrid kiosk in front of Bay Books on «Main Street, USA». I was on a caramel latte kick… and, I had a gift certificate that was about 3−½ years old. How lame is that? The CM guy offered me caramel flavor or real caramel… pretty nice for the semi-charity case I was. Surprise… I opted for the real thing. OK, on the first try, you could barely taste the caramel… but, he told me to come back for more if I needed it. So I did… three times… and, he didn’t even get one bit snarky.(He assured me that you need more of the real thing to equal one splash of the fake stuff.) In the end, it was pretty close to perfect… especially considering it was a stunning day and I could sit down and soak up the sun with my dog in tow.

My favorite place for coffee on Coronado and the perfect hangout on a cool, sunny day. When the sun beckons me outside, but it’s a bit too chilly just to sit around, I head to Café Madrid for some of their excellent coffee and to bask in the sun in front of Bay Books, slightly sheltered from the wind. … as I did this afternoon!

If you go here, you have to get a frozen drink! My personal fave is the Frozen Mocha! Great spot for locals and tourists. Sometimes I will come here with friends before school, or on the weekends with family. Once you get your delicious espresso, you can peruse through the book store. PS. Way better than Starbucks :)

As you are enjoying a beautiful sunny day strolling around Coronado Island, I highly suggest stopping off at Café Madrid instead of giving Starbucks more money. Apparently, this is a locals spot for the perfectly blended«MexiCali» Mocha which contains the most precise amount of chocolate, cinnamon and coffee. To my knowledge there are other small Café Madrid pop up coffee huts, one by the library and another by the landing. Nevertheless, screw the corporation– opt for mom and pop, Café Madrid is located just outside the Bay Bookstore(forest green tarp) on Orange. You wont regret it! Oh ya, cash only but the bank is just across the street :)
