Pork tacos were tasty and fresh tasting, topped with raw onion, parsley, guacamole. The chorizo tacos were good at first but the oil fall from the plate to the sidewalk kinda ruined it for me. All things said, the guy was cool, the food was fresh and tasty, and my taco craving was satisfied.

This is a little food trunk serving tacos, tortas, sopes and quesadillas on the corner of 108th St and Roosevelt Ave. I only tried it once, and I don’t like to review after just one visit, but I’ll make an exception here; the Corona taco trucks need more exposure on Unilocal!Given that this is my first review, it’s probably going to a little boring — giving you fair warning. I have to admit, I thought I was rolling the dice here. The owner/cook was pretty friendly, though didn’t strike me as having great English; it helps to know Spanish in Corona. I liked that they used a blue corn tortilla for the tacos. For the benefit of those who don’t know, tacos in Mexico tend to more typically be served on two soft corn tortillas and dressed with cilantro and onions. Often times it will also be dressed with a guacamole(I say«a guacamole» because there’s more than one way to make that stuff). It tried a sampler of 3 fairly safe bets — beef, chicken and carnitas(i.e. pork). This truck is different in that they don’t grill the meat to order. All of the food is already prepared and in a steam table. This does have the benefit of getting you fed very quickly and for the meats to be prepared through braising to make them more tender and moist. Unlike other trucks, the guacamole is included on the taco(if you want it), The chicken was tasty! So was the carnitas! And I was pleased that the carnitas was more on the leaner end; a lot of times carnitas will have chunks of pork fat — not my cup of tea personally. I was surprised to find the beef on the blander end, but at least it was not gamey at all. I have to warn you, the meats were sitting in a sauce, so it will be a little messy to eat. They have some other meats to choose from — chorizo(spicy sausage), beef tongue, cecina(like a beef jerky), ear, tripe, al pastor(carnitas with a spicy pineapple sauce), bbq goat, beef milanesa and chicken milanesa(milanesa = breaded). I’d definitely go back to try out other dishes.
