SGC Japanese Restaurant

We come here almost every other week we love it. Consistently good food. The place is a little dated on the interior I just found out it has been sold. Hopefully the new owners will update the inside.

Best all yoy can eat sushi place around I love the octopus and red clam, the staff is very friendly and they try to seat you quickly. (Good prices)

never had the teppen side of this restaurant however the sushi is probably the best one in corona, staff is attentive and friendly and they have always took care of me. I went in recently for a to go order and they completed it quickly even tho they were pretty busy good service everytime

Been coming here for a few years never had an issue until just a few minutes go. When you make your customers wait for a table and they want to order a drink while waiting and you give a response in a rude way «you’re going to have to wait man I’m busy» you’re going to lose a customers. We are driving to ZEN sushi. No need to talk like that to your paying customers. If you’re busy or under staffed and you are stressed don’t take it out on your customers hire more people!

Every dark morning taking side streets to work, I pass by this restaurant. At first with the capitalized letters SGC I didn’t think it was a Japanese Restaurant; the lighting isn’t on. I do recall seeing the parking lot packed, on previous drives through Corona. Unilocal calls out to me to look it up. Search field «SGC». Cooooool — Japanese cuisine :-D
It’s Friday and due for quality time. Nessa and I go check out what the 4 stars mean to hungry people. We enter into the Teppan section of the restaurant where already the floor is packed with anxious eaters watching the chefs work up the steam on the flat grill. Okay! I get it now. Looks awesome… But we want sushi.
Walk up some stairs to the sushi bar /​table section; but no wait. It’s packed with waiting diners. I ask Nessa to go leave our name and within 5 minutes we got called, squeezing passed the waiting diners. Oh I hope they’re not dogging us cuz we’re just sitting at the bar.
Upon being seated we were asked if we wanted any drinks, soup or salad. Their AYCE comes with miso soup and salad, but only if you want it. We requested our drinks, miso soup and edamame. Sushi chef greeted us immediately and offered baked mussels while we browsed the menu. We got the mussels first after around 7 minutes, but no miso soup or edamame yet. After a plate of Nigiri Salmon and Red Snapper as well, still no miso soup or edamame. Reminded our server.
All you can eat is done paperless here. I like that ! There’s more interaction with the sushi chefs. This way also, we’re ordering as we still feel hungry rather than guessing if we’re going to finish our food. The menu was not as extensive as our other favorite place, but we got to try some different items that we don’t usually order, like Pizza which is cooked sushi. Generally, I favor nigiri style. No regrets though. Pizza was pretty yumz! Huh wait what… why is this chick talking about Pizza for a Japanese restaurant. (huge sigh smh)
Overall experience was better than good. Four stars for what the restaurant has to offer with teppan or sushi bar. Dining areas have TV. It’s not so loud that you cannot hear your own conversation. Props to the sushi chefs for being more attentive than our server was for this first time sushi grubber experience here. Parking was not a hassle and in a preferred location, with other stores in the plaza which appeared to be family owned. Fish is fresh and food is delicious!
I recommend to come eat here — even if it’s just to hear the sushi chefs yell out your order ! That was amuzing :-)

Ate at the grill with the show. The chef was amazing, and he’s a kind gentleman. Pleasure to have, joked around, leading to an enjoying dinner.
The reason for the 3 stars due to the server we had. Server wasn’t entirely sure about the orders she was bringing to us. Even though 99% of them were right (1% wrong is because I couldn’t hear her in the loud environment; however, I advise that maybe talk a bit louder, because she is soft spoken) that fact she sounded unsure about what she was bringing us made myself and my family feel uncomfortable.

I have been coming here for years. For everything from a date night to celebrating my birthday (on multiple occasions) the sushi is always really good and the staff is just amazing. Such great personalized service from the veteran sushi chefs!

We tried their AYCE sushi for the first time.
The fish is fresh. They have a fair selection of rolls. Be sure to ask what are other off-​the-​menu rolls are included.
One we enjoyed is Red rock and shooting star — both off the menu.
Service was ok – could have been a little better. Took about 5 minutes after we were seated to be asked if we wanted something to drink.
The chefs started us with Green muscles — delicious.
Big plus is they’ll make half rolls, we even heard a customer ask for one piece of a roll.
Overall we enjoyed our dinner.

Met here last night for a Birthday Celebration.
Here for the Teppan Grill. Trying something new as we have been going to Ooka for awhile now.
First of all the service here was very good. We never needed to ask for any drink refills or flag anyone down for anything really. Very attentive and friendly.
The food was good and the portions are really generous.
Our chef was skilled, entertaining, witty and most of all delivered tasty food.
Prices are even a bit lower than similar restaurants.
Not the most visually appealing décor but I wouldn’t let that stop me from returning.

I went on a saturday night, which was busy.
Usually everything is on point, but not this night.
I was given the wrong order 3 times and didnt even recieve 1 of my sons’ orders.
Usually everything is great, but last night sucked.

Been here four times now. Good value good food nice staff. I’m sure I’ll be coming here for a long time to come. Sushi bar, tables and tepan so it’s easy to mix it up and keep it interesting. Try it you’ll like it.

Went in with my family after reviewing Unilocal.They had multiple five star ratings so I decided to give it a try… wasn’t disappointed. Food was good/​fresh and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Service was awesome! Even my nine-​year-​old son mentioned «wow…they are really nice here». We usually go to another Teppan Grill down the freeway but decided that we wanted to try a new place. We will be back for sure to try the sushi. A review of that will follow.

The sushi here is amazing! Besides Asahi in Corona this is my next favorite spot to go to. I’ve only sat at the sushi bar and have enjoyed it everytime because the chefs there are super friendly and polite. My favorite chef is Iggy, he always writes funny messages on you plates when you order from him. He also recommends rolls based on what you like.
The sushi is very good and they have a variety of rolls that are not on menu so make sure you ask your neighbor or chef what’s a good choice!
A side note on how great they are. My girlfriend and I went there on a Sunday at 9 bc we thought they closed at 10 (it said so online). When we walked in there were no more customers in there and the staff were all cleaning up. The owner was nice enough to still seat us and let us do all you can eat. Our chef let us know that we can order whatever we wanted, take how ever long we needed a snd it was not a problem. Of course we ate as fast as we could despite their hospitality but knowing they let us come in after hours to eat really said alot about the service you get from the is place.

This place is fab! Eggie is an awesome sushi chef. He will make «whatever you like.» The salmon crunch roll is quite possibly the best thing I’ve ever ate. Definitely my favorite sushi roll. It is a bit pricey though. I haven’t been to the teppan side yet.

Considering the fact that it’s in the middle of nowhere (Norco/​Corona), I’d say this place is great. I love the AYCE sushi, but for lunch or when I’m not all that hungry, I’ll order the sushi or rolls off of their regular menu and I save money and leave full, but not bursting. As someone else mentioned, you cannot pass up trying the baked green mussels. They are amazingly delicious.
Oh, and of course, if you’re going for the AYCE/​sushi bar, sit on the left side, closest to the door. I don’t remember the sushi chef’s name but he is a hoot and makes the experience all the more entertaining.

Very attentive staff, the food is good with a clean simple sushi menu and they accommodate special requests, nice waitresses.

I gave got to give SGC a full 5 stars, no idea why I didn’t in the first place?!!
Service is fantastic, the food amazing and the prices so cheap!
$ 8 a meal at lunch, I go with the chicken and fried rice, perfect every time.
The tempura veggies is an excellent app at $ 4.50 a great value and too tasty.
My husband loves the tempura shrimp and we are both obsessed with their ginger salad dressing, I always take one home to go, a huge bowl for $ 5.
The show is nice, the place super clean and the staff is always fast and on point.
No need to go back to Benihana’s this is SO much better and you are supporting local businesses, win win!
