Amazing food, wonderful service! All around a great experience! Mussels are amazing. We ordered a bottle of Riesling. I got the day boat scallops and he got the valentines special which they had to sub the Kobe for the fillet in bc they ran out.(Not great but we had late reservations) the special was a 8oz steak, crab meat, asparagus, mashed potatoes and parsnips. My meal, the scallops, Asian veggie, and rice… was amazing! Everything was amazing! It wasn’t my first visit, they have all been equal in caliber, and we cannot wait to go again!

I’ve only ever stopped in here to get drinks or small plates, but everything I’ve ever had has been excellent. They have a large selection of wine and specialty martinis. Probably our favorite bar in Corning

I’ve now been to The Cellar several times, and it’s easily my favorite restaurant in Corning. Re-reading my old review, I wonder if I was crazy. The tapas menu is excellent and changes regularly. My favorites have been the onion rings, poutine fries, white garlic flatbread, and the various amuse bouche(always amazing). The mac and cheese, chips and dips, and regular duck fat fries are worth getting, too. The quality is consistently high, leaving me willing to try anything. The drinks are well made. The service is always fantastic. The prices are very reasonable. I look forward to a visit to The Cellar every time I’m in Corning!

This place is great! The food is absolutely excellent. One of the best in Corning, without a doubt. It is a good date place, and also good for friends(plenty of Tapas for sharing). If money were no object I’d be here all the time, but the prices are a bit steep(I would say $$$, not $$). Great ambiance. you can enter with jeans or a suit(or dress) and feel comfortable. They have some really interesting and tasty entrees(I’ve had the ramen, chicken and waffles, and the schnitzel — all were top notch and delicious). All of the tapas are great and yes they have poutine. They even bring out small tastings before your meal comes out. The bar is well stocked, and they are capable of making just about anything. The wine and beer selection is above average. The drink and wine list is on an iPad, which is pretty cool. A great addition to Market Street!

Pumpkin soup was delicious and a large portion for a cup. Onion rings were fried fresh and crisp but they were very greasy… chef should drain them on a brown paper bag before serving. Hubby had the Kobe slider which was cooked medium rare, just right. My Pad Thai was good but the noodles were overlooked and overall lacked vegetables that I’m used to. All in all a good meal and great ambience… a nice way to celebrate our 20th anniversary :)

Went to the cellar for my birthday dinner. As a busy couple with kids, this was a rare treat and I was looking forward to the meal. Unfortunately the cellar disappoints. Food was bland and service was almost non existent. Our waiter, Emmett, treated us like second class citizens. Wine menu wasn’t explained, drink orders not taken until after he had basically took care of all his other tables, even ones that came in after us. He made no eye contact the entire meal, never asked us how are dinners were, etc. I think the most irritating part was that I could visually hear and see him attending to his other tables, making small talk, asking them if they needed anything, etc. while we waited to even get our orders taken. We were dressed nicely and were very polite so I don’t know exactly why we were treated this way.

Outstanding tapas and salads but less than adequate service. That accounts for the 4 out of 5 stars. Smoked chicken spring rolls, lamb lollipops, pad Thai and jerk chicken skewers were absolutely delicious. Same for the kale salad and the felafel salad. Very tasty Cosmopolitan and and IPA beer started us off. Can’t say enough about the quality of the food and drink. However… Dining out is also about service and this was disappointing. When we arrived, we were told that out table had just been mistakenly given away to another party. Nothing was done to make up for this and we were put at a booth instead of a preferred window table. The waiter took quite awhile to stop by and take our drink order. Once he served our food, he never stopped back to inquire if everything was to our liking or if we needed anything. The place was not crowded yet we seemed to be an afterthought all evening. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend The Cellar because the food was absolutely fantastic.

In town for the weekend and had dinner here on Saturday. Sat at the bar, great service. The menu offers a wide selection of tapas/small plates. We had the hummus special(chipotle lime), potstickers, Brussels sprouts, lamb lollipops and a tempura salmon sushi roll. All of the items were delicious, perfect actually. Reasonably priced with a great atmosphere. Highly recommended. we will return when in area!!!

Amazing vegetarian selection. Clear labels and well informed staff. The flatbread was very nice as was bruschetta. What was spectacular was the best and ginger soup and the chews board with the home made chutney — what a delight!

In a small town like Corning … I was deifnitely not expecting a fantastic restaurant like this ! Fantastic selection of wines and a wide selection for vegeterians ! We had the tempeh samosa and the fried artichokes for the appitizers and they were both were good. The fried artichokes seemed a bit tooo oily … but the sweet spicy sauce that comes with it was soo good that I ignored the oiliness ! For the entrée i tried the exceptional vegeterian paella! They added a little bit of kale to it and it added an awesome crunch to and blended it very well with the other flavours. the only con for me at this place was that it is pricy …

Had the Irish Salmon along with Kale and White Bean soup… DEEELLISHHHHH! I will be coming back AGAIN! Great service and relaxed wine vibe. Local spot where all the after 5 crowd hangs out but not too busy – just a steady flow of ppl. Free parking after 5pm up there corner behind a building across the street, mega plus! Located in downtown Corning which has cute shops.

What a cute restaurant in the heart of the Gaffer District! It’s a tapas place, so come prepared to order 1 – 2 dishes per person to share. The wine/drink menu is on a tablet. You can sort the wines by region and read comments(aka tasting notes) left by others. We ordered the lamb lollipops, half a portion of scallops, half a portion of the steak, a clam chowder, and the salmon sushi. We originally wanted to get the duck wings, but they were already out(at 6:30pm on a Wednesday?!?). The kitchen sent out a complimentary dish to start(three bites of waffles topped with beets and syrup). Clam chowder — Manhattan style. Big chunks of salmon. Lamb lollipops — Yum! Steak — I usually go for medium rare, but compromised and got the medium because my family doesn’t do rare too well. This was one of our favorites… Super juicy. The roasted red peppers the steak was topped with blended so well. I just wish it had been a bit larger than 4oz… Which was basically one bite for each of us. I wasn’t to big on the fries that came with these… Duck fat is good, but these were drenched in it and somewhat too salty. Salmon sushi — definitely not the best thing we ordered. The sushi was warm, the salmon was cooked, the rice was not seasoned and was too soggy. Would not recommend. Scallops — super tender and delicious. Came on a bed of pasta. Note: half portion is only two scallops! Service and environment both excellent.

After a full day of Museum, shopping and site seeing we finish our day with a late dinner at The Cellar. Strolling in just before our 9P reservation we were quickly seated and welcomed by Emmet. The Entrée menu although concise was full of interesting choice; the Tapas menu had a diverse selection of everything from Duck Fat Fries to Lamb Lollipops. We began with the Brussels & Walnuts and(3) Lamb Lollipops. Undecided on which wine, I ordered the«Blackbird» a Bourbon cocktail that paired very well with our selected appetizers. The Lollipops were a treat and the Sprouts wonderfully rich and flavorful with figs, walnuts and balsamic reduction. Next we enjoyed the Scallops and the Falafel Salad. The Scallops were perfectly pan seared and served over a bed of spaetzle; wonderful. The Falafel were perfect and well complemented by the mixed greens. After a few moments to rest and relax, we finished with French Press Coffee, Poached Pear and Cellar S’mores. The Coffee was rich, not too bold. The Pear beautifully presented and delicious, but the S’mores was the best closing act. To the table came a platter of Grahams, skewered marshmallows, chocolate ganache with a small table top campfire. Emmet lit the fire, we roasted the marshmallows and assembled the S’mores; what fun. Our evening complete, we could not have had a better end to a beautiful day in Corning.

Had dinner at The Cellar with a friend. Made our reservation online via Open and all went well. Ended up sitting where I’d hoped we’d be, right in a front window. We like to linger over drinks and our waiter didn’t rush us. The place was busy but not packed. Love the high tin ceilings. Two big rooms. We were in the one without the bar, so noise level was lower. Saw several families with small children and the kids all seemed to be enjoyed trying out tapas choices. I checked out The Cellar’s menus on my computer and decided on my order before leaving the house. Wrote it on a small piece of paper and stuck it in my pocket. Nice to know ahead of time and not struggle through menus on site. Three small Pot Stickers with Napa Cabbage, star anise, organic apricots and Chili Oil from the Tapas menu. $ 6. Just the right size serving as far as I was concerned and delicious. A house salad comes in small and large. I took small and had them add Smoked Chicken. The salad consisted of mixed greens, caramelized walnuts, tart cherries and a balsamic vinaigrette. $ 7 for the salad. $ 4 for the chicken. Tasty and filling! Walnuts didn’t seem very caramelized and there were way too many of them. Our decaf coffee was served via French Press and because it was a Heavenly Cup brand(HC is a local coffee roaster and café – wonderful place, wonderful coffee), it was excellent. Such fun taking occasional peaks at other tables and their tapas orders. I’ve got to go back there with a larger group that orders only tapas so that we can share multiple dishes. Yes, I want to go back. I definitely like The Cellar.

They had me at the vino pad. It’s such a fun way to browse the wine menu and to get a preview of what to expect, especially if you’re a casual drinker. The dining is tapas style and it’s modern fusion. Things that stood out to me that I ordered are the curry popcorn, lamb lollipops, duck fat fries(they have poutine too!), tandoori chicken skewers, and bruschetta fresca. Oh, and that’s a sweet sparkling red called Rosa Regale.

After visiting a few apartments, I want to find a great place to eat and, well, this place hit every spot. It was probably one of the best dinners I have had in a VERY long time. I would come back here when I have friends visiting or on date nights. I started off with the daily soup, I wish I could remember what it was but it was very good. It was light and refreshing, it didn’t hit you with too much flavor but it was so light and it was perfect for an appetizer. My +1 ordered the tempura sushi, difficult to eat but great taste. For our entrees, sea scallops for me and OH. MY. GOODNESS. I fell in love… with a meal! It was over the spring pea spatzle and I LOVED that, it was so full of flavor and texture, the mushrooms were a perfect compliment to it all. The sea scallops were cooked to perfection– I couldn’t have asked for a better way to cook it. +1 ordered the Korean Fried Chicken and Waffles and he loved it. He said the syrup was spicy but it was cooked perfectly, the chicken was crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside. I didn’t want to stop eating it was so perfect. I loved the small«tastings» the kitchen sent out in the beginning and for dessert. The idea is so awesome. We loved our meal and service so much, we decided to «buy a round for the kitchen.» Spending $ 8 to show our appreciation to the wonderful meal the cooks made? Yes, yes please. We loved it there. I will definitely be back and I can’t wait to try their Summer, Fall, and Winter menu!

We went in a group of 15 yesterday for a team dinner. Enjoyed thoroughly. They have great options for vegetarians as well. I liked samosas and Bruschetta. Paella was superb. Non vegetarians also were happy with their choices. Good wine selection . Will visit again.

I love this place! I have been here twice when in town on business. It has a great selection of tapas, and lots of great local wines(i.e., we had the Dr. Frank Riesling from the Finger Lakes, NY region). Top notch!!! I had the(3) Kobe sliders, which were tasty, though the blue cheese was so sparse, I could hardly taste it. They were good, but more blue cheese would make them soar! I had the Duck Fat Fries, too, that everyone raves about. The fries are hot, crispy and delicious. I just found the Duck Fat Aioli dipping sauce odd. It seemed redundant, to dip fries — fried in duck fat — into a duck fat sauce. So I asked the waitress for some ketchup, which was the smartest move of the night. The sweet and acidic ketchup was a perfect counterpoint to the fries. The waitress told me, it’s not unusual for people to ask for ketchup! My daughter had samosa and Tandori chicken skewers and loved them! My wife had the fish special, and the ½ order was plenty. It was a GORGEOUS presentation, and the bowl was soon empty! Well done at, «The Cellar!» The dark, dimly lit booth was a real treat, too!
