Food was ok. The service was great. But the walk to the cash to register to pay was overwhelming

When i first walked it i thought it was one of those places that just had things like burgers and hot dogs and you ordered at the counter and you can take your food somewhere to sit down but it wasn’t! :) it was a sit down café like id hoped. Dont let its rustic style turn you away, the food and service was great! I had the steak and eggs and my man had chicken fried steak the seasoning on my steak was amazing it was very delicious, and cooked just how I wanted. The menu is very large so it took me awhile to decide but the food was amazing! And our server(the girl with the pink zebra apron) was so sweet and kind always had coffee in my cup, which will make or break a place for me if I can get a refill lol! P. s. the coffee was amazing and they even had french vanilla creamer! Needless to say we’ll be back for sure!

It was a rainy day in Corning and breakfast sounded like a good plan so we headed over to the Hometown Café. Walked in the front door and the sign said to seat yourself, so we did. Waitress came over promptly with menus and took our drink order. Ambiance was café old West with signs and stuff on the walls. Restroom was unisex Cowboys and cowgirls. It passed inspection. Ordered the Chicken fried steak and eggs and the Grilled cheese BLT with tater tots. Cup of fruit. CFS hit the spot, hash browns done right, tasty gravy. The grilled Cheese BLT on sourdough was a winner. Tater tots plump and cooked just right. Fruit cup not so much. Next time a little more variety and fresh would earn that extra star. Advised the staff and they agreed. Café filled up on Sunday morning. Just right portions at a reasonable price. I’m a fan.

This place has amazing food! I had the all meat omelette with the home fries and the pancakes, they were delicious! The omelette was huge! Definitely get the most bang for your buck here, very friendly staff, nice welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a great place to satisfy your hunger. I definitely recommend swinging by here. I will be returning.

So far this place is hilariously exactly what you’d expect even with a pile of nonsense reviews left by local hicks who’ve never had anything to compare it to, I assume. All we ordered by way of drinks was a glass of water, which we had exactly one single sip of before shoving our glasses away. The combination of the waitress on break across from us shoveling food into her mouth(which she apparently doesn’t need to close in order to chew) and the sewer swill they tried to pass off as water was simply too much. Food hasn’t come yet. Okay now it has and it’s strange. It looks and smells like it should be good, but it’s weirdly all wrong. For example, the fluffiest biscuit I’ve ever seen comes and I’m thinking: I take it all back, guys. So I add butter and blackberry jam, take a bite, and: never mind. I put it all back where it was. My mouth is, inexplicably, full of sand. Did I bite into the other patrons? Omlet has decent ingredients, but it’s bland and looks like it maaaaay have been simply thawed in a microwave. Hash browns were the chef’s loose interpretation involving mainly cardboard strips and grease. On the bright side, our waitress was nice, presumably because she felt bad for us. Kind of like how you’re nice about telling someone their dog has died. Come here if you’ve only eaten canned food, it’ll blow your mind. Otherwise, Jack in the Box is down the street.

We always stop here when we’re in the area around lunch or breakfast time. Great food and very good service. Reminds us of the old days when dining out was fun. Visit here and experience how it used to be to go out for a meal in a local café.

Wonderful food, great people and awesome prices! Homemade biscuits and gravy everyday, and homemade soup. This place is great! I’m there at least 5 days a week!

Wonderful service and sassy, fun waitresses! The coffee is wonderful and the food is yummy! Cute décor also. A neat place to go meet some friends for breakfast or lunch. Bonnie, the owner, is a pip! Clean dining room and restrooms.

I would actually give this a 3.5. It is a diner in a small town. The service was good. My pancakes were terrific! And huge. The coffee could be a little better. That’s all I would change, really.

I really hate to leave poor reviews, but the Unilocal rating definitely led us astray on this one! The food was OK… nothing more. The service was TERRIBLE! We went for breakfast, and yes i do LOVE my coffee in the morning… well, after wating about 5 minutes after being seated, we were brought our drinks… my coffee was refilled ONCE mind you during the entire time we were there. I had to ask for my refill and the waitress answered sure, i will be back in a few minutes… that was the last fillup i got. It definitely was NOT busy enough to have as poor of service as it did, smiling at people does not constitute service. We wont be back :(

The food here was really great, the décor was country western, and the service was very friendly! A perfect stop for a roadtrip! And they even had clean, nice bathrooms! I would definitely come back here again :)

The food was decent. Basic breakfast options nothing extravagant. The service was seriously lacking. It was not busy enough to warrant the amount of time it too the wait staff to get around to us. They forgot our coffee until just before the food came out. Then basically rushed us out the door.

One of the two breakfasts I Would recommend paying for in Corning. Clean and safe, priced appropriately. Good service every time I’ve been there :) The food is one reason for 3 star, it’s OK but nothing to write home about, décor is outdated western.

Good food. Cute decorations. A bit rough needs to fine tune the food. My french toast was ok but had a slightly greasy bacon flavor & was hard. Hubby’s pancake was a cute flower shape but was a little doughy and under cooked, and the egg was overcooked. His hashbrowns were the little rectangles you can get from the freezer of the grocery store. The staff was friendly & gave good service. However the very loud personal discussion between staff had an inappropriate content for a working environment. Overall ok, but can get better for about two dollars more a few miles south.

While out at the Ranch for Thanksgiving– we were turkey«leftovered» out. We were standing around the fire the night before and someone said«biscuits and gravy»…mmmm… where could we get some of that in the morning? Everyone agreed that Hometown Café was just the place to go to subside that hankering for some soft fluffy biscuits. We all agreed to meet up at Hometown at around 7:30(a little early for this city girl) but very much worth it for both the food and local color. Walking in to this cozy country café locals greeted each other with friendly waves, drinking that third cup of coffee before church. I saw Hair higher than you thought possible, perfectly coiffed blow-outs and neatly ironed Wrangers. You heard the sizzling of bacon hitting the frying pan and the smell of French toast baking in the pan. Of course I had the chicken fried steak with a side of biscuits– a meal I was told– that would stay with me for the rest of the day. We all sighed in satisfaction. The bill for two was about $ 14 with tip and there was service with a smile. So if you are ever in Corning– mosey on over to Hometown and as my friend Stacey says«Get your fat kid on».
