We recently moved out to the Capay area, we had lived in Chico for many years and were very spoiled with High-Speed internet. We began our search for internet option the moment we moved into the new house. We learned all sorts of things about satellite internet, point to multi-point internet and the 4G network. We were looking for internet that would not cap us on the amount of «G’s» we used in a month. We are avid Netflix watchers and we love to stream music online for multiple hours of the day, therefore having a cap would not be cost effective. I called Dish Network(our current satellite provider), Hughesnet, DigitalPath and a local company in Chico called ACC Satellite. Each company offered us different options and I had an excel spreadsheet of the pros and cons. My cousin caught wind of my struggles and recommended that I try calling DM-Tech to see what they could offer. I discover that DM-Tech was local to Corning, which really helped seal the deal because we always try to shop local when possible. Melody was able to search my house while I was on the phone with her, and told me how many feet above sea-level our roof was opposed to how many feet above sea-level their nearest satellite was. She assured me that we would have no issues with connection and that our internet speed would be plenty fast. She also assured me that we would have no cap on how much internet we could use. She sent a tech out named Cherlynn(Spelling) and she was very knowledgeable. She set everything up for us within a few hours. I was so surprised at how fast the internet was, and Cherlynn showed us how to do a speed test to be sure we were getting what we pay for. I have already referred two friends to DM-Tech and will continue to suggestion them to all of our friends and family.

In August 2013 we moved from Yuba City CA back out to the Capay area. Although we were excited to get back out to a more rural setting, we knew that high speed internet was going to be the only asset(in our opinion) to city life that we would be leaving behind. We began our search for an alternative, which included satellite, microwave, or 4G network. Based on our research, microwave seemed to be our best option since it was uncapped and reasonably priced and Digitalpath was the only company that showed up on our radar. I contacted them and they said they would send someone out to run a signal test to see if installation would be a good option. They told us that their best option is the antenna mounted on Holly Sugar’s structure in Hamilton City and if we had line of sight of the tower we should be in good shape. Although I can see the tower on a clear day, I decided to cut down some large eucalyptus trees to increase my chances of a stronger signal, but to my dismay, the tech said that it was too weak to warrant an install. Our conclusion with Digitalpath is that while courteous and honest about a substandard signal, we had to initiate multiple calls to keep the process moving along. Based on this setback, our second option was Verizon’s 4G network Homefusion. They responded promptly, had great customer service, and was up and running within a week. This is where our first world problem became a glaring reality. Homefusion is expensive! We were forced to purchase their 30gb plan($ 120 per month) which covered online classes, email, Facebook, and occasional Youtube videos(of which you had to decide content vs. data). The bandwidth was adequate, the service was fairly constant(with many router and antenna reboots), but streaming HD video was not an option due to the data cap. We endured this for approximately six months until my neighbor stopped by and we inquired about his ISP. He told us he had been using DM-TECH in Corning CA for years and was happy with their service. Although I was cautiously optimistic, I assumed anything would be better than the current scenario so I called them. I spoke with Richard who located our property on Google Earth(I assume) since he commented on the vast amount of trees surrounding our house. I told him that I would be willing to sacrifice some trees if it that’s what stood in the way of our objective but he said that due to our proximity to their antenna, that may not be necessary. He informed me that if we were interested in a site inspection they would give us a call once they check their tech’s schedule. We were immediately contacted and told that they had a tech that was willing to come out on Memorial Day to test our signal and install if everything checked out. Cherilyn from DM-TECH arrived as planned and quickly found a good level reading. She was courteous, informative, professional, and had us up and running in a few hours. It’s been approximately two weeks since the installation, and to date we have experienced flawless service with 4Mbs down and 2Mbs up(as advertised) without the fear of the dreaded data cap hanging over our heads. Even though we had to pay an early contract termination fee of approximately $ 300, our break-even point will be in 5 months due to the reduced service fees of DM-TECH, making it an easy decision. We are now streaming Netflix without oppression and our version of country living is finally complete, thanks DM-TECH!

I did not say any of those things that Melody said. What I said was I’m glad that someone who new what they were talking about finally was able to explain why they are so slow… still. Waiting for ATT to come out here!
